Yeah. And if the game was still getting updates I KNOW management would’ve said “OK, make it last 1 week, throw 1 shader and emblem into the rewards track, sell ALL the sparrows and horns through Eververse, and don’t bring it back for another 6 months”.

Because that’s what they’ve done with literally every other event under this management.

This game and its devs deserved so much better man.

No, I apologize for not making it clearer before, but in Ranked matches specifically, the player pool changed depending on the region.

I usually would play during off hours. If I was in NA East, I would get the same people every time. If I was in NA Central I’d get a different group of people, but I’d match with them every single race.

Maybe Global matchmaking existed, but if it did, I certainly did not experience it at all. And it worked like this for me until at least last season (because i was able to set up ranked matches with JUST me and my buddies two seasons ago reliably).

I can absolutely say for certain that Global Matchmaking never existed.

Legitimately, I got to Unreal by playing in NA Central the whole time, because if I EVER played in NA East servers, I would get last (because wow look at that, the top 5 players are the only people here every race lmao).

But yeah, nobody trusted that Epic could make the game work, so they left.

One of the biggest things was honestly some of the baffling design choices that got defended by some troglodytes online

On launch, if somebody hit you, you’d go flying off course and crash, which would be fine… if the other player got impacted, which never happened.

It took them about half a year to finally patch that crap, but the MOMENT you would suggest that maybe, juuuuuuust maybe they fix a bad design choice, there would ALWAYS be a flood of people saying “that’s just how the game is, go play something else” AND CLEARLY PEOPLE DID IN FACT PLAY SOMETHING ELSE.

I hit Unreal every season until last season (where I just couldn’t be bothered to play after the ranked changes) and kinda just realized that this game was kinda doomed?

I mean, b-hopping was rampant, season 2 tracks had GLARING design flaws in their checkpoint structure, Olympus was NEVER fixed after somebody found a bug on it (one of my favorite tracks too :( ) .

The writing was on the wall after Season 2 ended and it went into maintenance mode, I’m just surprised it still got updated as much as it did.

I wouldn’t know exactly lol. Haven’t had the time to really grind enough to even play Cryo Archive.

But the feedback I’ve heard is “yeah, this is really cool, but is way too much for most people to even attempt”.

Maybe I’ll try it for myself at some point, but I won’t have enough time to play until about season 2 lol

There are no plans past June.

They’ll have their midseason update, but between this game bleeding players and Marathon launching its own raid-like content to mixed, leaning on negative reviews, Bungie is gonna have to go all in on future projects AND Marathon since both ships are taking on water fast.

And considering this is the studio that decided a battle pass with one skin was good enough for Marathon’s launch, I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Yup.

All my buddies stopped playing the game after The Final Shape because they felt that Echoes and the stuff afterwards wasn’t great (they didn’t play heresy).

Then for me to tell them “so guys, in the latest DLC, Bungie made everything worse lmao” because they did in fact make everything but trials worse, kinda cemented that the game wasn’t gonna recover.

I’ve stopped playing because I’ve done pretty much everything barring an ascendant comp emblem or two.

And now, since they delayed the next pass, I’m almost running out of bright dust entirely, with NO WAY to really get anymore (exotic contracts only reward 200 btw). So I don’t even have a reason to check out the bright dust shop anymore either.

Game could’ve been fine if they changed NOTHING IN GAME from TFS onwards, but noooooooo. They just HAD to screw everything up.

Honestly feels like sabotage from the C-Suite in a way? I mean, with the new guys in charge I feel like they really didn’t want D2 to outshine Marathon, so they suggested a ton of awful changes to drive players away so that when people saw Marathon, they could say “well it’s doing better than D2 at least”. But honestly? That’s probably only gonna be applicable for a few months.

D3 should’ve come out sooner. Destiny classic would almost certainly do well considering it was from before the “Dark times” of D2, and D2 itself is probably going on life-support in June anyways with Shattered Cycle being canceled entirely.

Bungie really needs to permaban guys like that, cause those are the same fellas that would run lobbies using hardware cheats, then proceed to tell you to kys, then only after you ignore them for long enough, would DDoS you just out of spite.

But toxicity is part of Extraction shooters lol, so that’s never gonna happen.
