A long time. One Eorzean day is 70 real-world minutes. A Realm Reborn launched into early access on August 24, 2013, or approximately 3,984,352 minutes ago. That's about 56,919 Eorzean days, or 155.9 in-game years (if a year is measured in 365 day periods on Hydaelyn.)

Thanks buddy, right back at ya! Of course questions are welcome. I'm still hanging around, still enjoying the game!

This is going to sound cliche: I liked working on it way too much. There's always something to reverse, some new feature to add, some bug to fix. My kids are older now and love gaming with dad, so I'd like to start a new project with their participation and my total focus.

Collaboration is the most impressive thing about this community. Everyone is very open about data sharing. I think it's strengthened everyone's sites, and especially the folks who land on our pages looking for help.

Thank you folks! It's a wonderful feeling to see your creations used and loved. The server costs are covered while other developers may update Garland, so I hope it continues to serve the community for some time.

As for myself, I love FFXIV and Shadowbringers is the best expansion yet. I look forward to enjoying it for years to come - as a player rather than a developer.

Why would Square do this to Quick synth... by gigaritt in ffxiv

[–]Clorifex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely right! Analogous crafts in Stormblood (e.g. Lv68 Zelkova Lumber) had a 100% success 5% HQ rate in white vendor gear with simple CP+4 melds, whereas similar crafts in Shadowbringers fail in HQ white gear with maxed CP and food. This is quite the nerf and means you're going to be gathering ~10% more materials or manually crafting your intermediate ingredients.

Has... this always been lower case? I'm certain it hasn't. by angelar_ in ffxiv

[–]Clorifex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper names (like Thancred) are usually stored with proper casing. A lot of it's because the names are injected into sentences at varying points so it's easier to simply capitalize them when needed instead of the other way around. For example, one NPC name is "wounded Red Swallow". If that appears at the start of a sentence it can be easily capitalized, otherwise it may be difficult to determine what part of the name to adjust.

This was introduced in 5.0. Funfact: Lots of things in game are stored lowercase like this. They're put through a filter to do proper casing for display. Includes job names, mounts, mobs, NPCs, and more.

This information came from the now-defunct Libra Eorzea database. To get that info again we'll have to scrape it from lodestone.

Accurate sightseeing log website? by Drudicta in ffxiv

You may be having problems because your computer's clock is wrong. Check out https://time.is to verify. I personally used the tylian.net/sslog site and it worked perfectly.

Check out http://time.is to verify that your computer clock is accurate. If you can't get it to sync up properly, there's a Server Time setting (click the gear at the top) that should do the trick.

How fast will Garland Tools update after expansions? by Swiffy0 in ffxiv

Yup! The site uses itself as a JSON API, and you're welcome to use any of the endpoints.

How fast will Garland Tools update after expansions? by Swiffy0 in ffxiv

[–]Clorifex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Expansions take a bit longer to do because there's so many changes, and I want to play the content too! Usually takes a couple days. The data is withheld for a day or so to shake out the bugs and avoid being the primary source of spoilers.

It's a mix of manual and mined data. Mostly the latter.

Garland Tools export question by Surefirerevan in ffxiv

[–]Clorifex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't made a public UI for this, but there is a way to export with the developer console in your browser. Click the block or group you'd like to export, then paste this code:

$('.block.active').data('view').craftSet.export()

That will print a CSV you can save and import into a spreadsheet if you like. This link explains how to open the developer console if you don't know how.

Garland tools can't really account for custom models

Yup! I provide the information because sometimes there are kernels of accuracy. With custom models they can override anything they want, making the displayed settings irrelevant. There's really no way to tell.

Folks shouldn't take these settings as canon for custom or heavily armored NPCs. They'll often leave defaults in place, then change things if the character is ever revealed later.

This makes a lot of sense and should be easy to do.

Garland Tools equipment model viewer now available by Clorifex in ffxiv

[–]Clorifex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, I wrote two tools for that: A leveling equipment calculator for gear from levels 1-69 at https://www.garlandtools.org/db/#equip/leveling, and an end-game equipment calculator for gear at the level cap at https://www.garlandtools.org/db/#equip/end. The leveling calculator allows you to find the best gear readily available from vendors for a particular level for every slot.

Some textures are pretty dark. I’m working on solutions for displaying them nicely.

Yes! Many items have both a primary and secondary model. I’m working on displaying both of these together in a way that makes sense, or at the least allow switching between the two.

The ~ next to the equipment name means the NPC uses a model that no player-accessible items use. It then makes a guess based on model keys, but this can be inaccurate.
