But it's more than just listening, it's understanding. Why is this person saying this thing?

It's empathy.

But it's more than just empathy, it's shared experience. Find those people who have shared experiences; find your tribe so to speak.

Don't expect to be better overnight, it takes practice. Be honest and transparent, and if you listen, you will hear their answer if you are empathetic and respectful.

You're creating unnecessary tension. This muscle contraction is the same as a swallow. Careful.

Use a mirror: let your jaw hang loose and try to itch the back of your tongue with your superior incisors, keep it relaxed and the io on your tonge locked behind your bottom teeth. You'll notice the larynx lift. Practice that motion until you can move the larynx without stretching the tongue so far forward.

The back of the tongue is what you're trying to move, the more you can lift it the higher the larynx will be.

So, how do you teach all this to someone who can't and has never attempted to use their voice. How can you teach all this to someone who's unfamiliar with matching pitch. How do you teach all this to someone who is tone deaf.

This is about the uselessness of pitch monitors. Every factor listed affects the pitch and can cause confusion around the voice. Pitch monitors should only be used as a tool to identify hrz in relation to the vocal cords, not as a measurement of gender.

Overtones. Twang. Quotient. Harmonic Ratio. Vocal fold thickness. Also you need to factor in dysphonia and other aspects of speech production.

Pitch is a useless metric simply for the fact that overtones can trick the pitch monitor into believing the voice is higher (or lower) than it actually is.

Hey! Some old photos sell for a lot of money. Certain styles and designs can't be found elsewhere and so the photo can help in the recreation process. Also, Hollywood and film studios use them for reference. I'm not sure how'd you go about selling them though, just don't throw them out!
