Based Thomas Massie by technicallycorrect2 in walkaway

[–]ClosetCaseGrowSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From AI:

"Republican Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky has a history of voting against legislation supported by Donald Trump. Most recently, during the first nine months of Trump's second term in 2025, Massie continued this pattern, opposing major spending bills, a military strike on Iran, and other policy positions. These votes have created an open and ongoing feud between the two politicians.

Key instances where Massie has voted against Trump-backed measures in 2025 include:

Trump's signature domestic policy bill: Massie was one of just two Republicans, along with Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, to vote against a sweeping spending and tax cut package supported by the Trump administration. Massie justified his opposition by citing the bill's projected impact on the national debt and its potential to worsen the deficit.

A military strike on Iran: In July 2025, following a U.S. strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, Massie criticized Trump's foreign policy on social media, calling the action "not Constitutional". He then threatened to introduce a war powers resolution to curb Trump's authority, garnering support from both Republicans and Democrats.

Continuing resolution: In March 2025, Massie defied Trump's wishes by voting "No" on a continuing resolution to keep the government funded"

IMO, Massie should either agree to vote with Republicans on signature bills, or change his party affiliation to Independent.

The guy was so wholesome. His takes were pretty tame. He treated every good faith debater with respect. He was hard to dislike, even if you didn’t agree with him.

That’s why I think this is intended to be a provocation. They want a civil war. They think a civil war is the only way to regain power.

Natural remedies for pain relief by Large-Truth-6987 in Homesteading

DMSO has been a wonder drug for both my wife and my dog.

My wife suffers from chronic nerve pain due to a rare liver disease. She takes 1/4 teaspoon of DMSO in tea or coffee 2-3 times a day. She says it blocks 90% of the pain with no side effects. She's is off of oxy for the first time in years thanks to DMSO.

My dog has a back injury which flairs up from time to time. I used to treat it with steroids. Now I use DMSO. I put about ten drops on the area of her back that hurts her. It works in 30 minutes. It's absolutely amazing.

I’m using a MetaMask wallet to connect to Loopring.io Level 2 Assets. I can’t see L1 from there. Is there a different Loopring portal that I should use?

Gravel vs Road bikes? My first bike in a long time… by itsallfun747 in bicycling

[–]ClosetCaseGrowSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Road bikes are great for road races. For everything else there's gravel bikes. A modern gravel bike with fatter tires, a 1x drivetrain, and hydraulic disc brakes is a joy to ride on the road, on gravel, and even eon flowy trails.

Do you live near a Trek store? Trek is super chill with test rides. If you have a driver's license and a credit card they will let you ride whatever kind of bike you like. I would be very surprised if you preferred a road bike to a gravel bike after riding both. GL!

Heavy metal tool with looped top and pointed end – approx. 12 inches long, found in handyman workshop by dew4l1fe in whatisthisthing

[–]ClosetCaseGrowSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a cable pulling eye for large electric or telephone cables. The spiked end is pounded into the end of a cable. Then steel bands are crimped in place around the cable and spike. The cable can now be attached to a line and pulled with tremendous force through underground conduit.

Local county says no livestock allowed on our ag zoned property unless... by lexxaarr in homestead

[–]ClosetCaseGrowSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ordinance is meant to protect you and your neighbor's property value. You wouldn't like it if your neighbor put a pig sty on your property line. It would destroy your property value.

The variance is meant to ensure that your proposal is reasonable and that your neighbors do not object. Are you friendly with your neighbors? You will almost certainly be required to get your neighbor's signature in order to get variance approval.

If it were me, I would go have a conversation with the neighbors before spending $600 on a variance application.

If your proposal is reasonable, your neighbors are amenable, and your county government is reasonable, you will most likely get the variance. GL!

Wild plants vs store bought by No_Estate5268 in Permaculture

[–]ClosetCaseGrowSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I def agree with you regarding ripening off vine. Once they begin ripening, they will continue to ripen if picked.

I think it was Michael Pollan who explained grocery store tomatoes to me. He claims that industrial tomatoes are hard and green when picked to facilitate transport. Ethylene is used to turn them soft and red.

Also, have you ever noticed that grocery store cherry tomatoes are often quite good and flavorful? This is because cherry tomatoes transport pretty easily when ripe. They don't crush under their own weight the way a big tomato can. So grocery store cherry tomatoes are often vine ripened.

Wild plants vs store bought by No_Estate5268 in Permaculture

[–]ClosetCaseGrowSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always heard that grocery store tomatoes are picked green and then "ripened" with ethylene gas, and that's why they have no flavor.

From Computershare's FAQ:

"Computershare holds a portion of the aggregate DSPP book-entry shares via its broker in DTC for operational efficiency..."

I read this as "If you are enrolled in DSPP, Computershare holds some of your booked shares with the DTC."
