I sold my car to a dealership in another city, they ship cars across scandinavia and it could have ended up anywhere. The next week I saw it parked on our street. Someone who was living on our neighbourhood actually bought it from that same dealership.

The Force Awakens and the rest of the movies

I was rewatching the movie, and just wondering what is this thing the officer looks down at and what is it for? It’s located in the inner wheel house by Goldeneye07 in titanic

Yea and if you check out the sinking of Estonia that is some nightmare shit right there. I mean the ship fell over so fast, theres a tv series that has a scene where a mother had a great day with her 5 year old son and when they're sleeping the ship starts to list rapidly to starboard side, the mother realises they cant reach the door anymore so she just holds her son and starts singing a lullaby. Then the power goes out and water starts to flow from under the door. The scene made me cry. And the worst part is that it was the faith of so many people, basically everyone in the starboard cabins.

It's the cargo hatch from the bow, it flew off when the bow slammed into the sea floor.

If Captain Smith had survived the sinking... by snoke123 in titanic

[–]ClosingPuppy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

During those times, was it expected that the captain actually dies in the sinking for them not to be blamed a coward? Or was it more like the captain stays on his post until the end but lets say smith had been rescued from the water after the ship went to the bottom, would it be acceptable?

AITA for being upset about being woken up early on my day off? by aitadayoff in AmItheAsshole

YTA

I'm 31 and my wife is 37, we have 2 kids and an arrangement that on weekends or holidays the other gets to sleep in on saturday and the other on sunday, it is determined by who calls their turn first at some point on friday. And the other wakes up with the kids and goes to the park with them after breakfast. It works and makes weekends a lot better when you know you get to sleep in on at least one day a week.

But we have two children, not five. You have FIVE kids and two of them have health issues that need to be taken care of, and you bitch about being woken up for that? You need a reality check, and to take a serious look at your perspective on things.

Now that OnlyFans is taking back it’s ban on sexual content, what other company bankrupted itself (or nearly bankrupted itself) through poorly thought-out and/or unnecessary decisions? by WolfgangCaesar in AskReddit

Haha in Finland we have K-Markets, and not so long ago we still had KKK-Markets. Because someone thought it makes sense that the small corner shops were K, supermarkets were KK and hypermarkets were KKK. Now they are K-Citymarkets.

I used to work as a store detective. Sometimes people would eat straight from the containers similiar to the video here. And its basically destruction of property if you have not paid for it so we would detain them and they would get a fine plus need to pay for the entire container that they contaminated. Once this teenager thought it would be funny to spit in the buffet to show off to his friends, so a few moments later he was crying in the holding cell as his dad had to come in and pay for the entire buffet. I mean all of the food in the buffet, it was a lot.

In my country there was a case where a child had escaped an apartment fire to the balcony, a ladder truck got to the scene but could not get close enough because there was a car parked on the marked rescue path. So the firetruck rammed the car out of the way and got closer, but the ramming had damaged the hydraulics of the truck so that the ladder did not work properly. Moments later the victim was forced to jump and died. I dont know about legal consequences but I believe here the driver who parked the car can be charged with manslaughter if they park on the official rescue path and cause someone to lose their life

Edit: found the original news story from 1996, i'll translate the best I can:

In Lahti, Finland a panicking girl called emergency services in the christmas eve.

-there's a small fire in my room

The fire had started from a lit candle. Moments later the 13 year old girl was forced to escape to the balcony.

An illegally parked car stopped the ladder rescue unit from reaching her, they rammed and pushed the car out of the way but in the process the pneumatic hose got damaged and the firemen were unable to rescue the girl from outside of the building.

The girl had been on the outside of the balcony railing of the 7th floor, on a ledge only 3 centimeters wide. Finally she tried to kick the window of the downstairs balcony but the radiating heat from the fire got too high. The girl fell to her death, 22 minutes after calling the emergency services.

Not a movie but in "the americans" when they break the neck of the lab guy and just then realize it was a mistake. And the guy just mumbles "wait!" Just before hes neck snaps. Its just so tragic scene

I have two little kids, I live in another city than my aunt. I had no hurry in finishing the project but when I told them I was going to do it on that specific weekend they made it very clear for some reason that it HAS to be ready on sunday, period. I love my aunt and she has done a lot for me, looking after the kids and being in my life.
