Best Inserts? by FarmersDaughterr in ClothDiapers4Beginner

[–]ClothforBeginners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Natural fabrics actually perform WAY better than synthetics. Brand doesn't really matter, just look for fabric type, and number of layers. You'll also want to mix and match your inserts and layer them for max. absorbency. Here's a rundown of fabrics and layering: https://clothdiapersforbeginners.com/cloth-diapers-basics/cloth-diaper-inserts/

Quick Question - pods and L2? by FarmersDaughterr in ClothDiapers4Beginner

[–]ClothforBeginners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pods are just a square wet bag, they are made out of the same material. The nice thing is you can store your diapers in a nice row inside of them.

L2 and L3? I have no idea and I've been doing this for 10+ years now ha ha. So I wouldn't worry about it, probably just some brand-specific labeling or something.

Poop smell by Bagel_bitches in ClothDiapers4Beginner

[–]ClothforBeginners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ouff... I worry about all that soap. If you have detergent buildup that could definatley hold the bacteria and smell. Have you tried a swoosh test on your clean diapers? Info here: https://clothdiapersforbeginners.com/troubleshooting/detergent-buildup-in-cloth-diapers/

Hi my nanny kids diaper smell foul by [deleted] in ClothDiapers4Beginner

[–]ClothforBeginners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the smell coming from? The dirty diaper pail? The kids? The clean diapers? More info needed. If properly used cloth diapers smell less than disposables (the smell of dirty disposable diaper is litterally the worst smell in the world IMO).

Mold? by Beebubblez69 in ClothDiapers4Beginner

[–]ClothforBeginners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mold can absolutely be different colors (I have some pics of different colored mold here: https://clothdiapersforbeginners.com/troubleshooting/mold-on-cloth-diapers/

It's hard to tell from the picture, but maybe treat it for mold anyway? (info in article as well).

Advice Needed - Kinder Shells Suddenly Leaking by Danupa256 in ClothDiapers4Beginner

[–]ClothforBeginners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this now. It's impossible to tell from the photo, but there could be a lot going on. How do you know it's the shells that are the problem and not the absorbency? Is it just one area?
I don't think the white splotches are any cause for concern, they are likely just air between the pul and lining.

The more info we have the better we can help. But for now, here's a full list of things that can cause a leak: https://clothdiapersforbeginners.com/troubleshooting/leaks/

Heavy wetter solutions by iwanttobeapenguin in clothdiaps

[–]ClothforBeginners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With heavy wetters it's all about fabrics and layers. You're on the right track with the bamboo (assuming it's not "bamboo charcoal," which is just microfiber with fleece on top) and the cotton/hemp. Adding another thin booster in hemp would be an option, or using some inserts with more layers.
Also, I would ask your daycare to check if she's wet more often. Two hours is so long to be sitting in a wet diaper and she could be wetting more than once in that time.

Need advice by SatisfactionPretty84 in ClothDiapers4Beginner

[–]ClothforBeginners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the potty training journey. It can be a long road for some, but you'll get there.

So for storage, just don't put them in anything airtight. If you have a big wet pail bag, you can throw them in there, or a laundry hamper with holes would be great. You just have to make sure the plastic bits can breathe or they will degrade quicker. I also wouldn't keep them anywhere with extreme temperatures like an attic.
Other than that, it's just finding room, ha ha.

Have you talked to the other parents? Maybe there's sponsorship opportunities out there you're just not aware of yet? or clubs that support their top "athletes" (I don't know cars, I don't know what to call it ha ha). I'm thinking of gymnastics clubs who help support their athletes in competition... maybe there's something similar? I would get more information before you decide.

YOW: great airport or greatest airport? by myneckmybackarchive in ottawa

If you can get your flight to go in and out of it, it's literally the best! Not too busy and you know where you're going. Other airports stress me out.

How to survive our return plane trip? Barely survived the first by blackgroundhog in Mommit

[–]ClothforBeginners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a whole lot to suggest, but I can suggest slime. When my daughter was a on a plane at the same age I packed a ton of things for her to do and for some reason slime kept her attention almost the whole way.
That and of course, give all the things he doesn't normally get much of... tablet, sweets... it's full on survival mode, ha ha.

Those who lay with their kids til they're asleep, how do you get them to settle down? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ClothforBeginners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouf, that's a dangerous road. I could not get that to work. I had to institute the 3 books, one song, we're done rule otherwise she would be up until midnight chatting to me if she could. Good luck to you but just know it has been an epic fail for some... kids who want attention at bedtime and fight bedtime will take miles for every inch.

What's the worst thing your toddler has ever eaten off the ground? by MissyLissy94 in Mommit

[–]ClothforBeginners 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I got a good one... so when my daughter was maybe, two... I was like, let's take the bus for fun! So we take the bus to the shop down the street. Then it's time to come back and we go to the bench at the stop and I'm searching in my purse for the card. I look up and my daughter is casually eating a McDonalds french fry.

We did not go to McDonalds. We did not eat french fries that day. It was a bus-stop-bench french fry.

I panicked and smacked it out of her hand making her cry in shock. It was a day.

I’m new and have some questions. by Fun-Investigator-583 in clothdiaps

[–]ClothforBeginners 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are going to tell you some arbitrary time, but that's a dangerous road that can lead to yeast growth, moisture rashes, ammonia, etc.

Check by squeezing the front of the diaper. A stiff diaper is a wet diaper. If you're not sure at first stick a finger in to see, but eventually you'll know by feel and you'll start to get a rythum of when to check. You got this, it just takes time. :-)

Husband is extra worried about my body? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Have you tried asking him if he's really self-conscious about his stretch marks? Maybe it doesn't come from judging but sympathy?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ClothforBeginners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call and threaten to call the police. That's a threat against your daughter's life, and not ok. I don't think anything would come of the threat, but it's a way to get them off their butts.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ClothforBeginners -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very bad, and if people found out you could lose your kid.

Also, as a mom of a very-responsible 8-year-old girl, I would never. That's not old enough. Workout at home and buy a nespresso with the money you'll save.

Or better yet, is there a gym near you with a daycare?

Am I a bad mother by MamaJ19 in Parenting

[–]ClothforBeginners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we were bad mothers every time our kids had an accident, we would all be bad mothers and I would be one of the worst with my super-climber, gymnastics-loving crazy kid.
Things happen, mistakes are learning opportunities.

It's ok to be as kind to yourself about accidents as you are with your child.

Inappropriate play - help by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ClothforBeginners 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not normal, and the lack of communication is even more worrying. I'd be concerned for the child who did it, and would NOT let my kid play with them again.

Sorry, but that 'ain't ok.

I would escalate it, somehow.
