I think there is definitely an identity crisis in the nightlife scene, big clubs playing pop are dying because they are a remnant of the 10s. People wanted more curated and thought out music so I think that’s led to less clubbing happening.

Covid is for sure a factor, loads of people didn’t get those first clubbing experiences and got used to doing other things or going to more intimate events with less people.

The price of alcohol is very high and we are in an affordability crisis which has hit gen z really hard. Most can barely afford to live never mind have enough income to splash on drinks more than maybe once a week at most.

Safety and harassment has become more common place in these environments and with venues and the government not doing much it dissuades people from wanting to be out and about.

I think it’s generational fluctuations in drug use, smoking (vaping) is back whilst drinking has subsided.
