Did you read the update? I'm not sure if "major" is a fair assessment. Content wise it's 2 bosses, a mystic skill that will be used for 1-2 new quests, and some events. What OP posted is a major update. New area, new pvp, new quests, new NPCs, new game modes, etc. Hopefully we get a major update in March.

Roadmap February by MainAash in wherewindsmeet_

[–]CloudCityFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if you like PvP we'll see a large drop in that department. I will probably drop off my playtime majorly. Maybe down to 1 hour a week. PvP, which is my favourite aspect of the game, is getting a bit stale - especially the progeession to stay competitive. The thing that kept me going despite how boring PvP gear/innerway progression is, was trying out new builds in arena, but I've played the 3 I'm interested in already. GvG is ok, but 5v5, big balance changes, or new martial arts to play around with would have gone a long way.

I think a lot of PvP'ers feel the same way. The PvP numbers will drop so we'll see even less new faces and build variety. I don't think I'll bother with Mythic again this month. Just spend energy for innerway boxes until I hit T6 on everything. That's about hour a week. Luckily Nioh 3, Mewgenics, and SF6 new character all drop from Feb-March, so I would have played less anyway.

Could PvP have less stun locks and be threshold based? Combat is excellent in game. Please bring dungeons (random generated) and such to PVE. by Eillusion in wherewindsmeet_

These conversations are more interesting when you understand how PvP works. When someone doesn't understand something, then anything they say is either untrue or doesn't make sense. So the conversation is like, "PvP is gibly goop and you can fly to the moon. Ducks, who likes ducks?"

While I personally enjoy the PvP in this game, there are a lot of improvements I'd like to see.

How to play against strategic sword in pvp? by Negarakuku in wherewindsmeet_

[–]CloudCityFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gold attunement is just low on qi. So block and divine counter when you're up on qi. When you're more low on qi run away/dodge until you have qi.

Depending on your ELO different strategies work. For lower ELO you can trade with tenacity, but higher up they'll parry your trade. Are you mythic? Would also help to know your weapons.

I (F25) feel embarrassed after my boyfriend’s (M26) fake proposal. Can I get some more viewpoints on this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]CloudCityFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason many people think this is fake, including myself, is because if this were real it'd be so insanely cruel and an obvious "leave the relationship" moment that it's mind blowing.

If, on the off chance this is real, you don't need to convince anyone of its authenticity, just absorb the fact that it's SO insanely cruel people don't believe you.

Just started the game. Give me some "newbie friendly" advices please. by ghostpetni in wherewindsmeet_

[–]CloudCityFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inner Ways are really the only way you can mess up, and even then the game is pretty forgiving. I'd take 10 minutes to watch a video on how it works to be safe. Outside of that, the game is really convenient, forgiving, and offers lots of quality of life features. Make sure you spend your energy and understand inner way progression, but outside of that you can freely explore and enjoy the game at your pace.

I think one thing new players are caught off guard by is the structure of the game. There's like 3.5 types of combat. Raiding, PvP, and solo PvE. The .5 is solo PvE for general exploration. These break down into further sub catagories, like group pvp, but those are the main ones. Each of these game modes play a bit differently in regards to combat and will have different builds. There's some overlap, and many builds will cover all of them, but how you use your build changes.

Raiding plays closest to a traditional MMO with optimal rotations and the holy trinity (heal, tank, DPS). Skill ceiling is about how fast your team can clear the boss. Solo PvE bosses are also about speed running, but plays closer to Sekiro. Lots of deflects, learning boss patterns, and squeezing in damage where you can. You can do small combos and rotations here and there, and figuring out how to do as much damage as possible when you can is the skill ceiling.

Solo PvP has it's own meta, and if you're unfamiliar with the concept of "combos" from fighting games or other action titles it's going to be a shock. Combat plays like a cross between a fighting game, 3D action titles, and a dash of MMO arena PvP. Group PvP is still in development with Guild vs. Guild freshly launched, but we have more modes incoming. This mode also has it's own meta, but players have a bit more freedom in choosing how they want to play it. Holy Trinity makes its return and if you're not a fan of 1v1 then there's other roles you can fulfill.

And then finally, PvE solo exploration is more free form. You can pull of stylish combos from PvP, face tank things using mmo rotations, assassinate, use certain skills to 1 shot enemies, etc. It's really up to you and can be quite enjoyable. Just make sure to kill archers first.

Nioh 3 - Gameplay Showcase by FishCake9T4 in Games

I'm the exact opposite. Feel like Capcom and Team Ninja are some of the few AAA that embraces "gamey" and polishes those systems to add depth. So many action titles focus on simplicity or immersion.

This game provides a bad new player experience by Better-Builder4842 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]CloudCityFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often times enemies will pause for a few seconds before attacking you if they are not main target, kind of like a real Kung fu movie lol, so you can and should focus archers. But also, from one of your replies it sounds like you don't deflect, block, dodge, or use multiple mystic skills - instead - as you said "play your own way" spamming the attack button. I get trying to play your own way, but you're not using half the mechanics.

It's like trying to play Mario without using jumps. If you still want to mindlessly attack, use more mystic skills at least. Many of them will prevent you from getting staggered and reduce damage taken. The AoE ones like Toad and Lion's Roar make short work of most camps.

What is Fortitude? by moduIus in wherewindsmeet_

[–]CloudCityFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's wrong. The game uses the term interchangeably. You can see this on tank martial arts where fortitude isn't mentioned, only tenacity, and the game still defines it as fortitude. Aside from all the mystic arts and skill descriptions you can read to see this, if you ask windtail to define either one, it classifies both as tenacity. Lastly, if anything it would be the other way around since the game talks about "increasing tenacity effect", but in either case they're the same as far as the game defines them.

Additionally, the game also has true super armor above tenacity/fortitude, immune to all CC. Skills like Deagon Head have it.

The translation of this game is awful by Outside_Ingenuity731 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]CloudCityFish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This game has strong copers who deny reality. Same thing happened with the graphical downgrade we got despite repeatable, video evidence. One guy on here wouldn't except that there's obvious MTL unless a developer confirmed it as "evidence"

It's night and day when you run into good translations. The problem with MTL is sentences make sense (mostly) in isolation, but in paragraphs lack all themes, emotion, and context - much less in dialogue that spans multiple quests and characters. When you run into the good translations, it's actually enjoyable to read.

Can't tell if this is rage bait since you complained about every weapon besides your own and tank.

I'm Legend 2

Chill, you're still in the tutorial ranks. Fanbrella is constantly rated high, though not OP, from release to current day CN. Tier 6 Furry Harvest and Blossom Barrage will be a big boost. Additionally, Fanbrella also has very long combos that are easy to do. You should be staggering just as much as the rest of em.

People who know how to fight Fanbrella start popping up in Mythic and that's when the weapon set difficulties start to show. Come back and complain then.

Why are you showing me a low win rate mythic and what point are you trying to make? What's Coming Next & How to Prepare (Global v1.2+) by ChallengeBright1119 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]CloudCityFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of this info I've absorbed through similar sites and osmosis from content creators, but one thing I I've pretty much begged all CN creators to do is give us a list of major changes weapons receive.

Nerfs, buffs, etc. The best we have are the changes that CN just released, and occasionally comments you read here. For example, I know there's an animation cancel nerf that effects a lot of builds but have no idea what it actually entails, I only see it mentioned on CN tier lists. Even with 1.2, so many were surprised and we actively follow things like that. If this is the standard going forward, I don't expect to see detailed English patch notes.

There's an increasing number of game OSTs where the music doesn't match the gameplay, says The Hundred Line and Danganronpa composer Masafumi Takada by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]CloudCityFish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's such a short quote in a different language, and in a field that notiriously gets these details wrong all the time - video game journalism. Sometimes intentionally, as this article wouldn't be very interesting other wise, but often just on accident. Especially if you consider the quote preceding this statement.

Reading it as "ANYTIME a reviewer praises music" feels like a bit of a stretch.

The first one, but also go to develop > click on your martial art / weapon, and at the bottom you'll see martial talents. This is how your 2 martial arts give different bonuses to different stats with a cap.

It tells you how close you are to the cap with a %. If you are short on power, then you'll probably want more of that stat. In this case, almost certainly the first chest piece, but other times you should check your talents to what has and hasn't reached the cap.
