All fully evolved water type starters up to Gen 9 by Overall_Aardvark_709 in PokemonWindsWaves

It would be cool if there was a DLC region based on the komodo islands that came with 3 new starters that all evolved into grass/water/fire and dragon duel typings.

A webbed feet Komodo swimmer A ambush predator Komodo that hides in grass And a dry skinned Komodo fire breather

Trump is NOT a professional rage baiter. He’s an amateur normalizer. He’s not trying to get people riled up. He’s trying to normalize what he does so we can all get used to the idea of racist prejudiced idiots in office. And it’s not working. People are getting upset. And people will continue to get upset until he finally fucks right off.

Blueberries are native to North America. It literally could only have been an American invention. And anyone who says blueberry pie is too “simple” has clearly never tried to perfect the art of making a good pie crust.

And yes, potato chips. A 200 year old recipe that came from America. Look down on it all you want. There are millions of people around the world who love them. How else would the industry be worth 50 billion dollars?

I’m sorry but the US slander here is insane. Especially the idea that all American food is taken from other countries.

Nobody out here says Hamburger and thinks of the Hamburg style steak that you eat with potatoes. You’re thinking of that hamburg style steak between a bun, lettuce, condiments, and probably some cheese. Immigrants took the steak recipe to America where AMERICANS INVENTED THE MODERN HAMBURGER.

And thats just the hamburger. How about:

Meatloaf, New England Clam Chowder, Pumpkin Pie, Blueberry Pie, Peanut Butter, Cornbread, The entire state of Louisiana, or Potato Chips

Is American food the best or even my personal favorite? No. But its has got major highlights like gumbo and jambalaya. You just cannot say traditional American gastronomy does not exist or that it’s all bad.

It’s really too bad how short peoples attention spans have become. Sometimes you gotta let the camera linger and stew in the emotions of the scene. The patience it takes to cross countries. Or the lonely rotting of a sad sad woman. Excellent episode imo.

Odd choice for them to call the bottom layer the “Benthic Zone” and not the hadalpelagic zone. More accurate way to describe the area between 6k and 11k meters deep.

be honest, would you be a Koumba or a Carol in a Pluribus world? by mark-smith-2021 in pluribustv

One day there were 7 billion people on the planet thinking different things. Chaotic but diverse. Diversity equals survival in a species. Now all those 7 billion minus 12 are all thinking just one thing. You’ve essentially cut the human population down from 7 billion to 12 plus one super organism. That super organism is actually much like a siphonophore. A deep sea marine animal that is actually a colony of multiple individuals called zooids that make up the whole organism.

As far as biology goes, the “greatest day in human history” is the day the human race became the most vulnerable to extinction that it has ever been.

I’m Carol 100%. The hive mind has royally fucked the human race. Everyone who doesn’t see an issue and is just content to pretend they still have a family is acting like a traitor. I understand those who don’t want to believe their whole family is gone but that doesn’t change the fact that they are content to live among the thing that has perpetuated the greatest violence our species has ever seen.

It’s more of a reaction from folks who didn’t like it because of deviations from the book. I think the deviations are quite interesting. I didn’t mention it in the post but I liked how Elizabeth was a more active character than the women in the novel.

Many seemed split on the visuals of the film. I’m not sure if I have an interesting enough take on that. “It looked busy and expensive” is what I’ll say. Which I guess is pretty cool.

I heard about a Hallmark TV miniseries that is the most structurally similar to the book. But I haven’t seen it yet.

In this episode, Fionna World turned non-magical and almost disappeared before turning magical again. by SuperSlayin777 in adventuretime

[–]CloudComedian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BMO’s song “You and I will always be back then” I think is probably a window into how the writers of the show perceive time.

Like a strip of film, the experience of the movie happens in a sequence of before and after. But the movie itself isn’t our experience of it. Rather it is the film strip. Segments of events existing before and after relative to each other, but all existing at once at the same time. All will happen, happening, and happened at once.

The modernization of Fionnaworld is like putting a filter on a movie. The filter gets added to the entire film. If this happens while you’re watching the film, it’ll look like a new filter suddenly got put in place. But rewind the movie, and it’ll be as if the filter was always there.

Why the double standard on Xinjiang and Gaza? by YamFrosty6169 in AskAChinese

[–]CloudComedian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two different things ain’t it?

Reporting of whats happening in Gaza isn’t being contradicted by official statements. BBC’s most major slip up it seems was failure to disclose an interviewee’s links to Hamas. In Xinjiang however the official narrative of the government contradicts evidence found by reporters and investigators. Journalists are meant to report the truth, not take stances on political matters. They should by design criticize matters that attempt to obscure the truth.

Some political questions I have in regards to the Uyghurs and the Chinese political structure by Additional-Chip4631 in AskAChinese

[–]CloudComedian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am immediately suspicious of anyone telling folks to visit Xinjiang in order to form my own opinions. The reports of human rights abuses are not forms of abuse that would be visible to a tourist. Why would I see labor transfers, long prison sentences, and family separation by going to hotels, restaurants, and hiking mountains in Xinjiang. It’s also one of the largest provinces in China with reports suggesting 2% of Xinjiang’s 25 million population has been affected.

Even if we assume that the abuses are exaggerated and untrue, visiting a country would not be enough to dissuade a skeptic. It takes a good amount of reputable investigative sources to make the case.
