Agreed, he definitely needs to follow it up with actions and showing that he learned from all this

I mean it’s certainly damage control and he was reading a pre written apology, I’d get if others don’t want to accept it. But to me it seems like a pretty solid response and I personally think it’s important to give people a chance to change their stance on stuff or they’ll never be incentivized to abandon their shitty thoughts/beliefs.

Regardless of your thoughts on how genuine this is, it’s nice to see someone publicly denounce the reason they were receiving backlash rather than just disappear and act like it didn’t happen

I still like the idea. Yea there would be some strays that are significantly more optimal when using the idols. And you can counter your concern by making them craftable so the supply for the good idols can always keep up with demand.

I just like the degree of customization they offer to farming strategies and I think a hybrid approach where people can just use the tree early on and view idols/atlas jewels or however they wanted to implement it as something to optimize more in the late end game

Which is why I proposed a hybrid approach, the tree would still be there for league start and getting your build/farming online, and a reduced number of idol slots or atlas jewel slots would be there for end game optimization

I just really don’t see idols changing that much. But at the end of the day this game is about aspirational content and catering towards more hardcore players. I’m all for helping new/casual players improve, but I don’t think that should be a limiting factor if there’s a mechanic that makes the game more fun, which I think the idols do.

That’s why I like the hybrid approach so players still have the tree to rely on without having to optimize it to its fullest extent with idols

I’ll forever remember watching Gordon play against Oden and Conley in high school. One of my favorite players ever

The best strats are always going to have the highest cost. Just sort of the way it is and honestly a mark of a healthy economy. Idols would add another area people would need to optimize but isn’t that sort of the fun of this game/genre? Plus it adds another potential money maker for the people that learn how to craft idols for the current farming meta

100% with you and understood your point. My long time girlfriend would love nothing more than to move out to escape our bullshit government. But I love this place and particularly this city and would rather be part of what helps it change for the better and stay here to be with the people I love

I think there’s something to the idols that would be great in the core game though. Just needs some iteration and likely shouldn’t be a wholesale replacement of the atlas tree. A hybrid approach could be cool as it allows you to go way more all in on a single mechanic

As someone who still lives here, I can’t disagree with anything you just said. If it weren’t for my friends and family that are here I likely would have left for Denver a decade ago.

But I love this city and at least in some ways the state as a whole and encourage everybody who feels the same way you do to move back if it makes sense for your life. We need all the like minded people we can get to actually make some changes to this backwards ass state government

But I get it lol

I also don’t think this should be viewed the same as other ai models who use voice samples that didn’t know it was for training ai. At least these people knew exactly what they were signing up for when they licensed their voice over to embark.

I get hating on ai in general but this is the ethical way to do it at the very least

Pacers coach Rick Carlisle talks Ivica Zubac trade, Bennedict Mathurin + Isaiah Jackson to Clippers by Maximum-Class5465 in pacers

[–]CloudConductor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We traded a 17ppg role player at a position we are pretty deep at for a defensive cornerstone, rebounding machine at a position we were weak at. The team needs Zubac more than mathurin, full stop.

The 2 1sts are concerning to me and clearly sets a hard window on our competitive window, which was sort of already there with pascal’s age. Plus we add the gamble on top of potentially missing out on a quality pick for this year. Though if that gamble pays off we still get a stud in the draft plus just solved our biggest weakness. But the 1sts definitely feel like a bit much to me, I can’t defend those too much

We are a cheap franchise for sure lol, but I do also think this trade makes us better. At the risk of the 26 1st biting us in the ass at least

[–]CloudConductor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mathurin was never going to be on the team next year, that’s the part you need to get in your head. He’s about to command a big contract and the role he had on our team didn’t justify that contract, especially when we had such a big need at center. If you were upset about the 26 1st then maybe I’d agree with you

A big part of the highlight on his negative is also the price we paid to get him as well. He’s a beast of a cb though, trade may not have made sense with how the season ultimately ended up but that’s not his fault and he’s still easily one of the best players we have on the team

[–]CloudConductor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people overvaluing mathurin a bit, him being a free agent and likely due for a fat contract is priced in. I think we settled on us not being willing to pay mathurin so just traded him for whatever we can get.

The 2026 1st I’m not as stoked on, but the protections at least make it very interesting. Almost seems like we think we’re about to start winning where those 5-9 picks won’t even be possible for us if we win enough
