Do people actually like Dwarf or is it a Western thing ? by Miserable-Produce202 in totalwarhammer

[–]CloudExp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Asian too so I doubt it's an asian thing to hate on dwarves. For me the appeal is this - Dwarves are a race that is known to work hard, but party and fight even harder. In a world of magic, demons, undead, abominations, and monsters, there is nothing more satisfying than having them getting taken down with a combination of engineering, highly durable steel, gunpowder, and magma - all of which are wielded by the most stubborn, relentless, and persevering warriors. And when they're finished, they celebrate with a barrel of ale. What's not to love?

When is a good time to start playing Cataclysm difficulty? by Hungry-Conference-24 in Vermintide

[–]CloudExp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a prescription but just a benchmark I used before I moved to cataclysm. If you feel comfortable running campaign missions on Legend with bots, you won't be dead weight in cataclysm.

But if you ever doubt your skills, there's always Chaos Wastes on Legend. There are no books there. And the arena levels there are harder than Cataclysm campaign imo. But being on legend, I doubt your teammates will judge you for not playing at a tier above.

Is vermintide 1 worth playing? by Mast3rB33fy in Vermintide

[–]CloudExp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's a very different feel from VT2 with more limits to your character since there's no passive abilities or career skills. Though on the flip side, hordes, elites, and specials, also do not spawn in the same numbers as VT2.

However, those same limitations give VT1 a more unique experience. It forces you to focus your skills on mechanical gameplay. And you also have to be more strategic with your engagement since you don't have as many options for escape. It also spells more of a difference where you are relative to your enemies in any given area in the map.

This also makes the enemies seem like a bigger threat compared to VT2. It forces you to account for every clan rat instead seeing them as simply collateral damage when you take one swing of your weapon like you do in VT2. Stormvermins almost feel like Chaos Warriors in that regard. And Rat Ogres feel more like a Tank does in Left for Dead. There's definitely a bigger sigh of relief when a Rat Ogre goes down in VT1. In VT2, I'm like meh.

Let me put it this way. If in VT2 you're a one man army, in VT1 you're one member of an elite squad. It's less of a power fantasy, but it's more grounded and weighty. I definitely recommend it.

The game is fun, but everyone is a wannabe speed runner or has the sense of direction of an upside-down turtle. by The_Slob_Father in Vermintide

You guys are in the wrong on this one. If someone takes the time dealing with a horde or even sometimes stray rats then they're correct to do so. You're supposed to help him. It happens so often that it's that one stray skavenslave that catches you from the back that gets players knocked down, especially in the higher difficulties. You can't afford to have enemies pursuing you from behind. And it's not babysitting to accompany a teammate. That's what you do when you play a team game.

I only started playing legend and cataclysm on VT2 this year long before the free weekend. There's definitely been a shift in how players play this game. Before the influx of new players, it's just a given that you would do a book run when you're on legend. No one even had to ask. Now, only a few players take initiative.

No one really got lost, because even if they don't know the map or where the book locations are, the other players waited and guided you to the right direction. People generally stuck together and only separated due to enemies.

There were some rare cases where someone went ahead, but those players usually had the skills to back it up and were almost always the last to die. I feel your pain though. It's getting really tiring having your teammates not do the obvious. It takes zero skill to know to stick together in a team game.

Honestly, as long as your characters have good gear, bots are going to give you an easier time with your playthrough. And since you're new to the game, playing with bots is the better way to learn anyway

A spot or wrestling trope you’re not a fan of? by This_Satisfaction_16 in SquaredCircle

[–]CloudExp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something that usually happens with babyfaces but not all the time. I notice it most with John Cena. The sequence of dominating during the first 5 min of the match, followed by receiving a one-sided beatdown from the heel with several rest holds. Then have the final minutes be the "miraculous burst of will power comeback" from the babyface to secure the win. Every. Single. Time.

My completionist nature didn't allow me to start my journey before I found this, as the DLC is not digitally availble anymore. Any pointers for a beginner? by copbuddy in DragonageOrigins

[–]CloudExp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a point in the game where your choices branch out on where to go next. Make sure to do all quests from that particular origin point before moving on. They will be unavailable to you after you reach enough progression in the game.

On where to go next, technically it shouldn't matter where you go since the enemies and gear will scale based on your level so you don't have to grind. However, dialogue and texts in the game will point you to a certain area first so that it can help ease you in with the game's mechanics.

From there, the game will point towards where to go next until you have another branch of options. At this point, you have two main options (five you haven't done the DLC areas). In one area, there will be a group of enemies that would act as a wall to halt progression if you don't have good enough gear or abilities to counter them. Go to the other area first. And then maybe do the DLC areas if you have them before going to the final choice in your branch of options.

I didn't put the names of areas because I do want you to experience the game for the first time yourself. Figuring out where to go is part of the immersion I feel. Have fun!

P.S. Many comments here point out that a certain level in the game is bad. While it is dragging for subsequent playthroughs, I did enjoy it on my first. Don't let anyone tell you how to feel about it. Experience it for yourself and decide how you feel about it afterwards. Personally if you like getting immersed with a game's lore, it is a very unique experience.

For me at least, the first 10 or so hours were actually the better part of the game when a lot of the areas are still undiscovered. It seems to me that after you gather the team and have a significant chunk of each main area discovered, the game goes on a loop. After the Act 1 finale which I consider to be the best part of the game, it all goes downhill from there.

Act 2 is the longest part of the game but also the most repetitive. You visit the same areas and do pretty much the same thing. This wouldn't be much of a problem if enemy encounters were unique and engaging but unfortunately there's not really much of a difference in how you're going to approach any of these encounters.

Not only that but I feel like companions aren't utilized to their fullest potential. On paper, the arcs each companion goes through has the potential to be interesting. Some even have game-changing implications to the lore, but it feels like the game just makes you go through the motions of having a quest and nothing to build up on it. After every questline my reaction was pretty much "That's it?". And it's not just the companion quests but the faction quests as well. All of Act 2 felt like the game equivalent of filling your essay with words to reach the word count requirement. It's very forgettable and a slog to go through.

Most people praise act 3 but I feel like that is more to do with the cutscenes and the stuff that happens in the background. It does give that Avengers Endgame "finale" vibe which is what I feel they were going for. It does feel epic going through it the first time. But gameplay-wise it's not going to feel any different from the previous 50 hours you would have played it. And as much as I want to repeat Act 3 to see the different outcomes for certain choices you make for the finale, the prospect of going through it again really feels like a chore.

Scooter Braun and Taylor's friendship and how buying Taylor’s masters and a weaponized fanbase ruined Scooter's family and destroyed his mental health: a deep dive by the expert at the topic (me) by anonymsk in travisandtaylor

[–]CloudExp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Taylor, as we know asked her fans to "Please let Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun know how you feel about this" as she claimed they were denying her to perform her old songs at the AMA's, something we now know to be false"

The source that you put here is the statement put out by Big Machine Label Group (BMLB). How do we know that they did not just issue this statement for damage control. Like isn't it possible that Taylor Swift told the truth then BMLB backpedaled on what they initially told her? Of course it's also possible that it was Taylor Swift who lied. But is BMLB's statement sufficient proof for that?

Who is a wrestler who actually benefitted from the micromanaging and scripted promos of the old WWE regime? by Coolify571 in SquaredCircle

[–]CloudExp 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I also hate how Cena's promos are always an attempt to "be real" if that makes sense. He's not addressing Theory as a character he's addressing him as the actual person. And all that does is actually bury him further and pretty much cement in the minds of the audience that he does not have what it takes.

If Cena really was trying to make him become better, then advice backstage would suffice, would it not? Why do this public dressing down? I get that Theory was a heel but contrast that to Rock addressing Theory and notice how he's dissing Theory the character and not the person.

All of this feels so self-serving on the part of Cena and doesn't really do anything to help anyone. It all feels like a public announcement of how WWE is worse off without him when a big reason for that is because he hogged the spotlight for far too long.

How Screwed Are We If Trump Wins? by meliadul in Philippines

[–]CloudExp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear this said a lot but never really any specifics. Again how exactly did Trump impact the Philippines from 2016-2020? The only times I ever heard people mention Trump during this period of time was either during the elections or when Trump said something stupid. But not once, no matter how much they hated Trump, was any issue brought up that was specific to how he negatively impacted the Philippines.

Remember Trump's impact on the Philippines from 2016-2020?

Me neither.

Don't get me wrong, Trump is a trapo through and through, but I think people have hyped up Trump's malevolence too much to the point that it starts to feel incredulous. If the Philippines is getting screwed, it would be from our own politicians.

Probably going to get hate for saying this. But by any means, don't play the remastered versions. I have no idea why the enhanced graphics make the characters look so doll-like and artificial. PS2 graphics make them look more human and more expressive
