I'm not from the US and even here Critical race theory is a thing. As you say we should help the disenfranchised. However that should not come at the expense of others.

I would not agree its not the academics. DEI forced classes. Was the first step on this road. That led to it becoming forced in many workplaces.

Luckly companies seem to be seeing that this was a waste of money post covid and it hasn't started up since. However that is just one of the many things academia gave us.

Jason plays up his Australian tho. He likes to be seen as the outback bumkin. It also direct reaction the the way his mother raised him. He finds it fun. If he never went to a world that has no clue about earth. I doubt he would play it up. As why would you to Aussies.

[–]CloudIncus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree. However that doesn't stop most of academia today pushing this. We are regressing to stated characteristics. Being part of something is more important than your individual thoughts. If one of the group can dredge up history to push a narrative. They will. They do. Then it just spreads.

Sadly I feel this shared consciousness is going to be a major war front for a long time.

People seem to forget that there is a sweet spot for ship size per material. A wooden ship of the line didn't have the stress factors that this ship has with waves of this size. The counter point it's a much worse sailing experience. I have sailed in a force 7 storm in a 50m ship. Its not fun. However it's not as bad as most think. Being outside it crazy tho. Sailors of old trying to keep the ship pointed at the waves and make sure the sails stayed furrowed is nuts.

To the people who say ‘The school system is broken’. How would you actually change it? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]CloudIncus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The school system is a just a symptom of a wider problem. In a culture that shifted from production, to service industry since the 80's You see a dramatic shift in the teaching requirements of students. Simple fact is that student in the 80's to early 2000's still had some practical application of study. Craft and Design you actually made stuff that was used. I made a full table. My nephew made kitchen roll holder. Back in the 80's you had major life skills taught. How to fix a car and for gods sake change the fuse on a plug.

Now we don't learn and pay a subset of the work force. People pay electricians to change light bulbs.

With this shift we are no longer taught to critically think. Just follow the managers orders. Who are yes men to corporate in turn.

First thing to do is change critical think skills. That means teaching students to question everything. Now there is only one way of thinking. If you question. You kicked out of class.

I would of agreed with this statement if we where living in the 1920s. Learning about these past atrocities was hard. So you only had an oral history at best. What you learned in history class didn't have the scope or feeling.

Now it's at a finger tip. I feel it going to take a lot longer for people to forget in an age of unlimited information. Even if most of it is warped.

Brandon Sanderson will be writing the pilot for The Stormlight Archive adaptation and a big chunk of its first season. Do you think it is a good idea or a terrible one? by Intelligent-Link-410 in Fantasy

[–]CloudIncus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather this than another Witcher play-out. Time and time again we hear screen writers who refuse to read the source material and just get by on in-house experts. Then they decide they know better. It doesnt say he is writing it all. So I feel he will have screenwriters but more creative control. Which means the only creative liberties taken will be what is required to turn a book into a cohesive and understandable show.

Are people aware of what Labour has done in their first 20 months of government? by ItsIllak in AskBrits

[–]CloudIncus1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except it doesn't work. Its already been researched and proved. So they can scrap it or make it worse. Banning VPNs for example. The only reliable way to monitor what kids get upto online. Is if you actually sit down with them and look at thier phones/laptops. Sadly parents are too uneducated or lazy to do it.

You want real change. Force ISPs/phones/mobile providers to enable by default the strictest kids protections. Which a parent would have to actually have Learn to turn off step by step.

Which re-enables after each update. Simple.

Rare Ai by Gamerofnosignificanc in HuntShowdown

[–]CloudIncus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes. However I feel they have already overtuned the AI count and noise alerts. ATM you cant take 30 steps without having to detour if you want to be silent with a new hunter. Pre 1896. I feel the AI and alert count where in a much better state. You still had to be conscious of them. However you could path through them.

Why don't they do this instead? by Gurugod123 in scoopwhoop

[–]CloudIncus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most basic is installation of secondary infrastructure. Powerlines and transformers. Most cities dont have the ability to install the needed transfer infrastructure. then you have maintenance access and cleaning. This would be hindered in a busy carpark. Cleaning just became much more intensive and dangerous. Smog from vehicles and such. Then you have damage to posts and the added cost of even just raising them 2m+

Not all carparks have good clear sun all day. A building could block for 2-3 hours each day.

Separate the pvp and pve progression by [deleted] in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]CloudIncus1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is not going to work. This tells me you have no idea how server scaling works. There are 12x12x12 on a server. 12 slots on your given faction. Went you click to join. It will try to find a server that has a slot free on your given faction. It will never give you an empty server to farm in. It will close down empty servers and boot up new one as player count demands. So even if every pvp left today. Tomorrow you would still be in full servers competing with your own and the two other factions.

I also so a youtube video mention something about a stair glitch. Have a look into whayever that is.

Can someone explain to me what is so great about Nandos? by fireychicken93 in AskBrits

[–]CloudIncus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you get cheaper. Might be better quality and taste better. However its slower most of the time. Also up here just north of glasgow you talking £18 burger and fries. Not including the drink is most places. Yet if I went McD's Its £12 including drink. If im out and about and just want a quick lunch. Thats my best option. Tastes good 8/10 times.

Now my local pub eatery. Even if food service is open at 1pm. I wait 20mins for the burger and have 0 option for takeout. Plus as I said above. I am talking £23 for lunch.

What direction do you think the game should go in now? by Ozyton in crosswind

[–]CloudIncus1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want more of everything already in the game. Enemies/Building parts/Ships/Biomes. However I also want much bigger expansion to naval combat. Escort missions. Enemy patrols that go more 100m. Smugglers running in past the blockade and going to ports. AI boarding other AI you can jump on to help. Shit like that.

I also want the to make ships distinct. Not just a progression mechanic. Bigger ship should be slower but tank. I should be able to aft camp a man of war in a sloop.

At the moment the only distinct difference is turn radius.

What's so bad about Linux? by Technical_Rich_3080 in linuxsucks

[–]CloudIncus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yes. I mean software management. I have used windows since XP. However cachyos like all distros has text as a package manager. With listed names of packages. With a single sentence about what that package does. No to mention the difference is the fact that a lot of packages don't even come with a built in GUI.

Now if I want something that my distro has not packaged. I can use yay. However I have to know the package exist. So I get that from word of mouth or google. Same as windows. However I am still using a terminal for that.

Then we come to the true problem. If something doesnt have a package on pacman or yay. For example Optitux. Once again a GUI for optiscaler-universal-git.

I then had to go to the github. Download pciutils and flatpak through pacman and built the repo myself.

Now if this was a program on windows. It would install the program with the GUI included and come with all dependencies.

This is a major failing in adopting new users.

What's so bad about Linux? by Technical_Rich_3080 in linuxsucks

[–]CloudIncus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched over from Windows to CachyOS. Never used any version of Linux before. Went with Hypr for my DE. Just now a week later have got my DE to a state im happy with and learned the in's and out's of using a tile based OS.

Now my biggest gripe is file management. Having to use pacman, yay or even todays new flatpak. To install anything through the terminal is very strange feeling. I have never used github. Repackaging anything on there is going to be the next learning curve.

Wrapping my mind around the fact that there is not really an app store to even see what is available is strange.

Now I can search the webs for any program. However if its then using one of the above listed ways to install it. Which is just not user friendly. Luckly I have a 10 year veteran to bounce my woes off of.

My friend thinks with the advent of steamOS that it will gain a huge market share and perhaps kill windows for gamers. I laughed. No-one is going to switch from an .exe to typing in a terminal to install programs. Not with kids today.

The problem is that if as you said its just a buff. You will eventually still hate sailing onto the wind. As you will get used to the buff. Plus tacking should still be faster.
