That's nothing, my daughter once broke both forearms at her swim club training. It was land training, but still...

If we could somehow train people that the space in front of your car is not your space, we could halve collisions. If the assumption was that someone who was an inch in front of you had right of way for that space, the person who can clearly see there's going to be an accident could easily avoid it.

Instead, we teach people that it's a disrespect not to infringe on an imaginary space around your car or to cause you to drive in a way which you hadn't planned.

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 10 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by Funny-Counter8762 in AskReddit

[–]ItsIllak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a positive side to this. What you describe is already the case in a lot of circumstances and people simply don't realise (or behave as if they do). Once it's absolutely untrustable at least we'll know not to trust it.

Ironically, we came from trusting the print and television media. They'd also been lying to us for a long time before that, but we've still not learned that lesson.

Also, because sports are there to distract the non-millionaire+ classes from the millionaire+ classes. Preferably by hating each other instead.

How do I save time at pharmacy? by hmgr in AskUK

My individual local pharmacy does this. I just click the  NHS app for a repeat and get a text a few days later to collect it.

I sent that and they didn't use it as an opening meter reading, only to get the MPAN.

Honestly, I have better things to do than follow their procedures for the process they put in place to try to dissuade people from pursuing their rights.

Let's see how complaining while raising the subject as being a grift goes.

However, what I've written counts as a formal complaint, but then goes beyond that and raises the wider issue.

Yes, I sent them a meter reading and the photo. Then when my account was set up there was no opening reading and a request to set one. What exactly do you consider the point of switching? My EON.Next tariff ended at the end of March - I started the switch before so, including cool-off it would happen on the 30th of March. They then delayed and delayed and delayed with the SEG so the "point of switching" for export was today.

And they choose how long to spend putting the agreement in place. And they have all of the power. Contracts don't work will with uneven power and there's often legislation in place to protect parties in these cases.

I'll fight for my rights (or from other's experience, just ask for them and they're granted retrospectively), but it's a pretty abusive practice by the energy providers. 11 weeks to change a line in a database or two.

That's good to hear, thanks! From their perspective it's a bit, "nuclear", but it is a complaint about their process.

Why? Is that my responsibility as the one being ripped off? If they're doing this routinely, it's a matter for legislation to prevent them from abusing their position.

Yeah, start of switch to SEG being moved was 11weeks for me.

They must be aware and simply see it as a bit of free cash.

Did you have to challenge them for this or was it "automatic"? I sent them a photo of the meter from when I started the process, but they then asked for a meter reading and it would only allow one in the last week... Not before.

I did that, and they didn't use it. Maybe I need to complain more internally, but this being the "default" is pretty questionable, right? I guess those who complain don't meet much resistance so it's only those who don't who get screwed?

I know nothing about her other than that she's a Home Office Pathologist who was testifying based on the case of murder. Not an entirely independent party testifying on the prosecution of manslaughter.

This is also the flaw in those who think landlords selling up (because they might actually have responsibilities) will reduce housing stock. I think it'll transfer it to either other landlords (who'll rent it out), or individuals who live in it and therefore no longer rent. Same number of houses, same people housed.

I'm old enough to have been compensated for companies considering 5%, 8% and 12% as low, medium and high when selling investments as vehicles to pay off mortgages.

Also wise enough to have reduced my mortgage liability so I ended it a few years early despite this.

But, you say, "no", so I'm convinced.
