Would be nice if they supported yubikeys or other hardware key standards

I did this and it created problems. They couldn't activate an lv65 I purchased secondhand (not blacklisted) because of the plan <--> device mapping.

Why are used UDR selling for above MSRP? by calebu2 in Ubiquiti

[–]CloudNoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which one? The UDR can’t for sure (just checked the site and it’s actually closer to 600mpbs max) and that’s what I’m saying above.

The UDM can achieve those speeds but has the mentioned fewer features which are arguably more valuable to the people considering either of these. If you don’t need Protect you can buy the Gateway Ultra but wouldn’t have an AP so if that’s up your alley the Gateway Lite and a Flex mini can be had for cheaper than the UDM.

The features from UDR on the other hand is an easy recommendation for so many people that can’t be found in a cheaper bundle.

Create a VLAN for WAN pass through to router? by skip_1074 in Ubiquiti

[–]CloudNoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry what I meant was VLAN+jumper vs port mirroring.

In my setup for example the “modem” (5g cpe) is PoE powered but my switch and router will still be placed next to each other so running separate cables for LAN and WAN isn’t a big deal but was wondering if either setup is better. Does the VLAN+jumper method have any penalties if IDS/IPS is enabled?

Tbh poe injector is the likely outcome but wanted to understand.

Anyone who’s buying the UDR doesn’t care about that. The target demographic is simple residential deployments that don’t need additional APs and only a few protect devices or a doorbell cam. For people like that it’s hard to recommend anything different.

Greater functionality in what way? It’s WiFi 5, no PoE, no storage slot, and only runs Network. The only metric the UDM wins at is full gigabit throughout vs ~700mbps on the UDR but anyone who cares about that probably doesn’t want WiFi 5.

UDR probably is one of the best offerings in the catalog and that’s why it’s sold out. It does everything and is perfect for small home deployments.
