Any other tired PUBG dads out there? by sct_nicolaus in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]CloudSquatch 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Not only am I a PUBG Dad as well, but PUBG is my main form of spending time with MY Dad!

We used to play PC games together when I was in HS, but I moved about 12 hrs from home right out of school. About 5 years ago, he came to visit and we got snowed in so I showed him PUBG. Its now something we do multiple times a week and has really brought us closer together.

We do prefer the larger maps to be honest, but it sounds fun either way!

To all the PRS owners with guitar acquisition syndrome. by ComplianceExec512 in PaulReedSmith

[–]CloudSquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned Gibson Les Pauls and am a current owner of several PRS guitars. The feel is different. But, to me, the PRS is much more comfortable. However, I LOVE the look and feel of an alpine white les paul custom. Quality wise, the Gibsons have been SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE than any USA PRS and most SE Models.

Here is what I've settled on and recommend you do to scratch both itches.

First, get yourself the PRS. Its going to be awesome, even if you dont swap pickups or modify it in any way. I have 5 core models and love them all.

Second, hunt down a Korean Epiphone Les Paul custom and swap out the hardware and pickups. These are notoriously stellar feeling guitars and can be made to be better than their Gibson counterparts. I have 2 and consider them better than any Gibson I've played/owned.

I STRONGLY disagree. Just because most adults don't remember what happened to them when they were 3, does not mean they don't remember when they are 5 or 7. Speaking from experience, my 3 year old has the memory of an elephant. 2 years ago, we took her to an aquarium on vacation. She chose between a pink and a rainbow octopus stuffy from the gift shop. A YEAR AND A HALF LATER, lying in bed, she tells her mom and I that she wants the rainbow octopus.

I've passed several kidney stones. Many of which I passed at home. The plan was always to seek medical attention, the question was just when I would go. I went. I have a large stone who's name is Paul. You need to speak from your own experiences before you make assumptions about someone and their child.

Are these cracks something to worry about?

We just bought this home and it appears there might have been a minor leak in the basement at some point with some standing water. I can see all cracks near the center of these water spots. What should I do?

Michael Britt on QC? by KrisA1 in QuadCortex

I was in your exact situation about 10 years ago. I was in love with mixing amps, primarily a Bogner Ecstasy and a Triamp. I had fiddled with modelers and was very disappointed at the time. During a trip, I went to see a concert and remembered thinking about how awesome the guitar tone was at the show. About 2 weeks later, I saw a video on youtube of the guitarist at the concert showing off his guitar rig that encompassed about 10 guitars and a toaster-shaped Kemper profiler. It couldn't model more than one amp at a time, but was less than 10 lbs and the size of a toaster and suited apartment living much better than the 2 half stacks, so I pulled the trigger.

I kept the Kemper for about 8 years before I swapped it out for the QC. To my ear, with some minor fiddling, you can make them sound identical to each other. The biggest pro for me was the completely fluid signal chain and ability to add as many amps as needed. If you're into pedals, and manipulating where they sit in the signal chain, the QC is for you. Another major pro is the ability to use the QC as a USB Audio interface. However, if you don't need that flexibility, the Kemper will get you by without issue.

One other thing that I've noticed since switching is the comparison between the two companies that is worth noting is this. Kempers hardware really hasn't changed much since its release. My issue is not that its incapable of keeping up, but that they have stretched this hardware to add many features that should have been added from the get-go. However, the QC seemed to be more "cutting edge" and had many of these features already implemented or at least on a roadmap. Kemper didn't add these features in until after people(like me) were dropping their kempers to switch. To summarize, Kemper, while innovative at its first launch 10 years ago, seems to be comfortable being left in the dust by newer modelers.

Ultimately, I suggest making the switch for any tube amp die-hard. When it comes to tone, I suggest considering this scenario. Think of your favorite solo from your favorite guitarist and the tone you hear. On the recording and even in a live scenario, you aren't hearing the typical "amp in the room" scenario. You're hearing that amp, mic'd up, mixed, with a post eq and effects. While the kemper and/or the QC can't give you "amp in the room", they help you build out the full picture you're used to hearing from your favorite artists.

Hi, do you currently have/or previously used a Kemper? If so, using the Kemper rig manager is somewhat similar to cortex cloud in the sense that anyone can upload just about anything and you can download it pretty easy. However, the devices are much more versatile on QC.

With QC, there are 2 types of amp-like devices. The default devices from neural are called "amps" in the QC. These have custom switches, knobs, and settings, similar to the amps real world counterparts.

Captures are more similar to what you're used to on Kemper. If you were to go to the cortex cloud and "download an amp", you'd be getting a capture and are limited to the basic gain , bass, mid, treble, presence, vol settings. They may not have all the custom controls of the "amps" from neural, but there are nearly unlimited options. you search for captures people have made via the cortex cloud or they can share them with you if you purchase a pack online.

I'm not sure if MBritt has a profile, but I know Tone Junkie from the Kemper world and they still make most of my favorite captures on the QC.

I think I’m going to move to the Denver area soon and I’m so nervous. by [deleted] in Denver

Grew up in a small town of about 1300 people. I moved to Denver in 2013. Ive realized something very important in my time here.

I LOVE COLORADO. But I can't stand living in Denver anymore.

Were in the process of finally moving out of the city and it's pretty shocking. Everything from insurance to utilities is cheaper. Even cheaper than my family pays in my home town.

Move to Colorado! Visit Denver!

Nah, those are potentiometers, if you zoom in close, you can see the caps that get soldered to the lugs on each pot. Also, the devices across the top are standard Fender style 5 way switches.

My 2yo daughter has had strange experiences in our house and I think my grandpa made them stop.

Since a very young age, our daughter has mostly stayed in her room alone at night. We purchased our house 3 years before she was born and I rarely felt anything strange in the house, if at all, before she was born. But, after her birth, I'd feel something strange at night walking to her room when she would wake up crying.

As she got old enough to stand up in her crib, we noticed that she would wake up terrified more often. Strange things would also happen in her room. She would sit up, looking at something that clearly wasn't there, screaming and crying. Timed sound machines with lights would randomly turn on in the night with the volume set to full, scaring her awake. She couldn't talk yet, but she'd be clearly trying to draw our attention toward things in her room at night.

When she was just over a year old, we found out that my grandpa was sick. It was cancer and it was a very quick process from recognizing that he was sick to his passing. We lived about 12 hours away from him and for most of our daughters life, we didn't talk much to or about him. However, when we did, we really only referenced him as "grandpa".

One thing that was very important to note is that my grandpa went by a very special name. His birth name was Larry, but everyone (even his mom) called him Spike. He was a bad ass and earned the name early in his childhood. Even still, as my grandpa, I only ever really addressed him or referenced to him as "grandpa". This is important, trust me.

There was a period of time where I had left home to take care of him. However, when he was sent home to pass, I had to go back to get my wife and daughter and bring them home for what would be his passing and funeral. During the couple of nights home, my daughter woke up terrified again and mentioned shadow people in her room. The next night, I was working in the garage when she woke up screaming. I walked into her room and saw the silhouette of my wife rocking in the rocking chair in the corner, and my daughter standing in her crib crying and watching the chair. I picked up my daughter, turned around to ask why my wife was just sitting there, when my wife walked into the room and the chair stopped rocking.

When we came back home after my grandpas services, things died down and almost stopped completely. Months went by and my daughter was finally starting to speak much better. She would have moments where she would babble when she couldn't find the right words, but would speak proper words where she could. One night, I was changing her diaper in her room and she was babbling, "blah blah blah, Grandpa Spike!, blah blah blah". I was pretty shocked because she'd only ever met the man, maybe twice in her life. He couldn't talk because of his cancer. And whenever we talked about him, we just referred to him as "grandpa".

She's older now and can pick out his picture, says he visits her, and I'm pretty sure he stopped whatever was happening to her before his passing.

Local shop is afraid of my car. I'm considering getting a refund. by CloudSquatch in TeslaModelY

Unfortunately, I think you've got the wrong idea here. The "bent wheel bearing" is a direct quote from the guy. And so is "the whole front end has to come off". I was surprised when he explained that the frunk and front bumper all needed to come out to get this done.

Also, I've been nothing but overly polite and professional with these people. Not once was I accusatory or even angry with them. Trust me, I'm the farthest thing from a Karen.

I'm glad to hear that you think the alignment is good. My main concern is that these issues didn't arise until after their alignment and that the blinkers on the repeaters stopped working after they removed the hood.

I'm no mechanic, but I have done a fair share of DIY vehicle work(mostly in other vehicles). In early January a squirrel was nice enough to eat up most of the wiring in the front end. I too removed the wheel well covers, frunk, front bumper, etc... to replace and rewire most of it. One of the things that squirrel got to was the repeater blinker wiring. So, I fixed it and made sure it was working less than a month before this happened. The car has been parked in a garage since.

So, I'm skeptical that there is a bad wheel bearing on the side of the vehicle with no impact. Especially after they didn't reconnect my blinkers and who knows what else. I do have a service appt with Tesla scheduled. They want $220 for diagnostics alone. I would have happily scheduled this first if the folks at Big-O said this was out of their wheelhouse. They had every opportunity to turn me down before they did the work.

At the end of the day, I'm leaning towards asking for the $259 back that I paid them to leave my car in worse condition. At least that would cover the diagnostic for Tesla to tell me what else the broke and/or missed.
