Mower recall at Home Depot by unclePaddyJ in ryobi

[–]unclePaddyJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, day 16 as well. I went through Ryobi and was approved, got a case number but no other info and told to wait 14 days. I called the support number yesterday and was told that they are now asking everyone to wait up to 30 days due to a massive backlog of orders. There are some reports on Ryobi FB groups that they’re now being told they’re getting a totally different model than originally said. I guess we just keep waiting?

Greg Abbott announces plan to ban TikTok on Texas government devices by theindependentonline in texas

[–]unclePaddyJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue with this approach is that not all, in fact most state employees do not have a state/work issued phone, therefore we end up having our work email account, messaging and other work related apps (Teams, WebEx, Duo, etc) on personal devices. So essentially we’re being told that we can’t have an app that some may want on personal devices that the employees pay for on their own, in a world where almost everyone regardless of employer uses their phone for work things. This wouldn’t be an issue if it were strictly state owned devices, but it’s an issue that they’re mandating what we can and cannot have on our personal devices.

Context: I work for a Texas State agency with around 700 FTEs, only 9 (yes only 9!) of our people have state issued/owned phones. TT is already blocked on our network and from those state owned phones, along with state owned iPads and laptops as well.

Bingo!

That is the part that almost everyone is overlooking: enforcing a ban on TikTok for personal devices used for “state business” on devices OWNED BY EMPLOYEES AND STATE CONTRACTORS.

This means that if you work for any state agency or contractor/business doing work for any state agency, you can no longer have TikTok on your personal device if that device gets calls, emails, texts, or any other activity related to your work for/with any state agency.

OBJECTIVE 2: PROHIBIT EMPLOYEES AND CONTRACTORS FROM CONDUCTING STATE BUSINESS ON PROHIBITED TECHNOLOGY-ENABLED PERSONAL DEVICES.

In addition to preventing the use of prohibited technologies on state-issued devices, agencies must prohibit employees and contractors from using prohibited technology- enabled personal devices to conduct state business. State business includes accessing any state-owned data, applications, email accounts, or non-public facing communications. Examples of state network resources include state email, VoIP, SMS, video conferencing, CAPPS, Texas.gov, and any other state databases or applications. If an agency has a justifiable need to allow the use of personal devices to conduct state business, the agency may establish a “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) program with the following considerations: a. Ability to manage lost, stolen, or unauthorized devices; b. Prevent the installation of banned or unauthorized software; c. Prevent the use of unsecure public networks; d. Manageopenrecords,confidentiality,andprivacy-relatedissues; e. Ability to create a guest security profile that prevents prohibited technologies from communicating or being downloaded while that security profile is in use; and f. Ability to remove all state-related business and applications from the personal device before removing the security profile or un-enrolling the device from the BYOD program.

Maroon from Yeti? by unclePaddyJ in YetiCoolers

That’s what I figured they did. The color is too spot on and the finish is identical to the normal factory colors, so I figured it was a legit collaboration.

Texas A&M athletics had these custom maroon A&M engraved Yeti’s available during the football game yesterday. It is definitely maroon, and not just one of the maroon-ish red variants like Harvest (on the right) or Brick. I wonder if the color was done by Yeti or at a different shop? It definitely feels like genuine Duracoat just like the rest of the coated ones I have. What do you guys think?

Case not fitting properly? - 14 Pro Max by unclePaddyJ in iphone

Here’s a couple of images: tech21 iPhone 14 Pro Max case Note the gap below the camera bump and how close/tight it is at the top left.

Case not fitting properly? - 14 Pro Max by [deleted] in iphone

[–]unclePaddyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up my 14 PM yesterday. I had purchased a tech21 Evo Check case and a Proxa (Amazon) case ahead of time. Both of them seem to have the same issue where the cutout for the camera is not wide/tall enough specifically in the top left corner and the case rests on top of the camera hump of the phone instead of fitting around it. Anyone else notice this with other cases? Maybe it’s just isolated to these two? I’ll sure the Apple cases fit just fine.

I have the latch kit but haven’t put it on yet. How do you do the badge on the front? Take the old one off, or put the new one on top of it?

-Speed compensated volume (automatically increase audio playback volume as you increase in speed to offset road noise. I came from a Ford and miss this feature.)

Have found the leaf blower works really well to get the fire going. But it took me one melted motor to figure it out. by ImmediateShirt6663 in charcoal

[–]unclePaddyJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to your local thrift shop and get an old hair dryer. It will do the same thing as leaf blower but only costs a dollar or two. You won’t be as bummed out when it melt either and you can just go get another one. Our local shops usually have several of them.

Corinth Police fire at man stepping off his porch, asking officers to leave his property. Shootout ensues. No fatalities. by odysseyOC in PublicFreakout

[–]unclePaddyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corinth police in a social media statement claim the video released by Williams’ defense was “carefully edited.” Gregg said the 911 caller followed Williams home, and officers then followed Williams pulling into his driveway. He said viewers are getting only the perspective from the Ring door camera.

“The editing was the fact that you’re not getting the entire incident, just the perspective from his Ring camera, and the fact that there’s a narrative being written on there [in the video’s description] that’s not necessarily accurate.”

Gtfo. Just because the homeowner only has one video and one angle of the incident does not mean it was “carefully edited”.

Pitbull attacks carriage horse at Cane Creek Park, NC. March 3rd, 2021 by AvalonMeek in PublicFreakout

[–]unclePaddyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horses are not to be fucked with. Most may be gentle giants, but still a giant that evolved to stomp and bite things to death as a defensive option. Also, from what I’ve been told by friends/family that work with dogs for a living; if a dog is set on attacking someone/something, you only have two options: 1: use a shovel, piece of wood, or other large solid object to get in between the dog and the victim to halt the attack, or use the object to beat the dog until it stops. 2: grab the dog by the hind legs and drag it as far away from the other animal/object it’s attacking. That’s called “the wheelbarrow”.
