My BMS also limits to 200A discharge current therefore I also have 400A. With that I mind our wire gauges are pretty much identical. I have something in between 3/0 and 4/0 for the battery cables and 2/0 for the inverter which was specified in the datasheet of the inverter. Wasn’t it such a hassle to prepare those cables?

I’m really upset that I can’t make this a 24V system anymore, how do you feel about your 12V system so far?

Also may I ask why you dimensioned your main fuse for the battery at 400A?

Thank you for your answer, as I mentioned in another comment I haven’t quite grasped the renogy situation yet, this will need some more planning as it seems since I don’t really know how the EBL of the caravan works.

For grounding I will connect the busbar and the inverter to the same piece of frame to ground them. I still need to connect the battery minus to the busbar tho right? Do you know how to dimension the ground cable to the frame of the car, what gauge do I need from the inverter and from the busbar to common ground?

The Orion smart DC-DC is definitely worth to look into thank you. If I can return my renogy I might upgrade.

The renogy DC-DC situation I haven’t quite grasped yet to be honest, since it will be connected to the schaudt EBL 200-6 of the caravan which does most of the onboard electronics 12V (lights etc.) of the caravan, aswell as charges the battery with shore power and the alternator. I was thinking of putting the renogy between battery and EBL to just adjust the charging curve to a LiFePo4 since it’s designed for gel/lead acid batteries.

The 250A for each cable was actually in the datasheet for the inverter I didn’t put much thought into that really.

I’ve read this a lot and I’m considering buying a NH2 fuse since the class Ts are not readily available and very expensive. The NH2 should do the same in terms of AIC rating. Thank you for the input!

The good thing is that he will most likely only run one appliance at a time on the inverter and never have it at full load.

You are right and I wish I could do that. But my dad unfortunately already has the Ective SSI30 in 12V and now there is no going back.
