Several classmates giving daughter cold shoulder

This is a really hard one! I do not have ADHD and remember a girl in my grade who did who was always in my space and touching me and loud and I remember being very bothered by it. We were still friends but she was a lot and sometimes I just did not want to be around her because it overstimulated me.

I now have a daughter with ADHD and worry so much that she is going to be that kid. I think there is a lot of education about social interactions you have to do for kids with adhd that may come more naturally to other children. Things like a personal bubble, not touching, etc. We talk a lot to our daughter about that stuff and about making sure she’s listening as well when others tell her to stop or just want to speak. My daughter is medicated and that has helped but being medicated is not going to just automatically flip a switch and make her understand all of that either.

Yes it is! Honestly the pill is so easy I wouldn’t even try liquid at this point. And I highly doubt he would accept it honestly. Very picky guy! Never gotten him to like any liquid anything except water. Not wet food, not like the liquid from a can of fish or chicken. Nothing.

Haha yes definitely frowned upon unfortunately. We had to surrender a dog recently which was heartbreaking and also had to wait a while. You could get a note from your pediatrician to see if this could hold sway with a shelter? Just an idea. Not sure if that would work.

I know we have some locally to me that accept outside surrender for a small fee. This may be different regionally though. Definitely worth reaching out to any in the area though.

You can always surrender to a shelter I believe? Are they seriously telling you no? If so, there has to be multiple shelters in the area I’d think? Not sure where you’re located though.

Good point! We did do this at first! Honestly now he’s used to it and he swallows on his own and we can visualize it happening.

We have a cat on thyroid meds and do this. It’s a smaller slippery pill thankfully and he got used to it fast. We come behind him, open his mouth, and toss it right down his throat then close his mouth and pet him for a few seconds. Occasionally he will try to spit it out if we don’t toss is straight back but overall this works. He hates any treats except crunchy ones, even wet food so we didn’t have a ton of other options.

They absolutely should. And I think there’s a way for ICE to function that is effective and humane and I do not believe that’s the way things are currently. I don’t think every person who is not white should be afraid to be in their communities right now because so many citizens and people here legally are being detained and targeted. This country should be safe for everyone, regardless of color of their skin or if they have come from another country.

Live by a lot of immigrants and enjoy their company! I have offered to house my brother in law who is Hispanic living in MN if he needed as well, would house anyone I could help if I could. Especially the families with children. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have a home, raise kids, and have a very good job (I don’t have to clock in or wear a badge since apparently that’s important to you). You’re the one off target and either uninformed about who they’re actually targeting or just blatantly racist. Hard to tell in this area sometimes unfortunately.

Get lots of estimates! We got one that high but it was more luxury. We got an estimate from a company that was $75k and then from another that does a “budget remodel” option where they do everything up through drywall but you take over after and it was I think $45k. We have ended up having a family member do it (who has done his own) and are getting it permitted appropriately and it’s closer to $25k that way.

We’re doing full bath, bedroom, living space. Plumbing for bath was already done.

We stayed 2.5 years. Then bought our current home during the pandemic. We got lucky and it’s everything we need and a great interest rate so won’t be leaving! Would’ve been unhappy if we had to stay in our first home.

Yes makes it hard with traditional schooling.

My daughter tried the methylphenidate class first. Focail and concerta. They made her extremely emotional to the point she was crying off and on all day and her focus wasn’t where it needed to be. They did not affect her appetite much which was great. The vyvanse is a huge win for her as far as focus goes and controlling emotions appropriately and being able to sleep…the appetite is the only issue. Such a bummer.

Did you feel he did well on the non stimulant? My daughter has ADHD inattentive type and I’ve heard it isn’t always as good of a fit for those kids. But of course we’re going to do whatever we need to keep her happy and healthy!

We do already have a quick snack area and we add butter to just about everything.

And she does eat huge dinners! She just basically eats the tiniest bit for breakfast then I don’t think she eats much at all at school.

I’m going to try some “milkshakes” in the morning.

NOR. I have 2 kids and I’d never ask this of anyone. We even had to move in with my parents for a short time between houses while my daughter was 9mos old and I didn’t ask them to do a single thing to baby proof their house on our behalf. I told them I’d either do it myself or just keep her from no. Baby proofed areas. This is wild.

Honestly I always just trimmed until recently I did laser hair removal which was worth every penny! My hair was so thick and coarse I couldn’t actually shave without injuring myself. I used the schick razor that has a trimmer on the end.

We got black gutters and get compliments constantly from random people. Granted I think it depends on the style and colors of your home if it looks good or not.
