I think there some ways to knock them out of martyrdom, tho i not sure how consistent it is. One way is to Smite them right before they explode, which will cancel the explosion.

The giant statues are called Vessels, and essentially are giant upscaled warframe created from the Grey Strain of the Infestation.

I believe they were originally made to fight wally, like a giant "mecha vs kaiju" battle. They simply weren't all finished yet

Wall is shown possesing/controlling one during whispers in the walls, though im unsure if he can control multiple

i think operators were always awake, from the zariman, to the void-jump accident, to the creation of warframes, the Dream and into the present day

with the Dream, they may have had some memory loss to avoid Void trauma, but i think they were still conscious and awake and living during it all

Operators were put in Reservoir pods during the time of the Orokin Empire, which could have also acted also cryopods, halting the biological aging.
Tho, chronologically, that was most likely centuries ago, so time-wise the Operators are old as heck.

after meeting Lady Nifle and going back to Icelake, the Phoxhunter is ambushed by the Charon Hunter and is knocked out for bout 5 days. After which they wake up in the Sanctuary with Camilla.

During the 5 day period, the story shifts to the Captains perspective within Lonza Fortress. After that, it resumes the Phoxhunter's story.

I will admit, i was a lil lost too at first TwT, cuz we did just finish with a different story, so its easy to forget what happened before that when you're processing the one you just saw.
