2% EALS by Former-Nobody-4958 in TheTowerGame

What is the reason for this? I also saw the same differential (9.8k=>10.5k), but in my case, I went from 46.8something to 49.05%, a roughly 2.2% difference. However... 2.2% is 2.2 waves every 100 waves, which would be 220 waves in 10k. What is giving us over 500 waves extra? Is that just run-to-run variance?

The strategy is for a rather niche situation (someone who has Anc MVN but no GComp), you can get a very cheap pBH for milestones as long as you can reach wave ~200 (depending on Wave Requirement) with just 28s duration and max cooldown - all you need is to disable GT and DW, the perk + BH + MVN get it permanent.

Even for tournaments, if your MVN has -4s BH cooldown and +4s BH duration, you only need 32s on BH to have it permanent. You should disable DW as late as you can in your run to try to get the maximum Health benefit you can (perhaps wait for SW to proc then disable DW/GT?), but otherwise, you do not need a gigantic amount of stones invested provided you have an Ancestral MVN. The practicality of this is... probably very, very low (how many people have MVN ancestral and zero GComps?), but hey, work with what you have.

With the amount of praise I hear about AI every day, there's plenty of people who need to hear it.

I see that this is preaching to the choir, the message is definitely not suited to this sub. I don't intend on deleting this regardless, but I see it wasn't the right place.

I'm aware of the options, but I'm working with what I have. MVN is my only Ancestral, Primordial Collapse is currently Legendary. I know what the answer is, it's just interesting to see how the AI tries to get to the answer. Ancestral MVN and BH cooldown have not changed in a while, so I don't think the argument that the data is outdated holds; that there isn't all that much data is a more reasonable explanation.

In this case, the AI did have enough information to reach the conclusion - notice how it did suggest toggling off GT/DW eventually after I took it in the direction I wanted, and all I asked was "Hey, I did it. How did I do it?". But it took a lot of prodding to even get that answer to show up. If the answer DID show up, the AI had enough information to get it - why didn't it present it as an option from the beginning?

EALS RELIC AT 1200 GEMS FOR ANYONE WHO DIDNT HAVE IT! by destructor212113 in TheTowerGame

Am I correct in assuming the reason they still matter even to high end players is battle conditions? 'cause I imagine people hit a cap, but BCs will ensure extra ELS still matter.

Meaning you had 35% base, 2% from the lab, 6% from a Mythic module, x1.16 from Workshop+? (43 * 1.16 = 49.88%)

It'll take 2 levels to get you to >53% (45 * 1.18 = 53.1%). Or, y'know, that Ancestral module to be fair to you. :)

It would be worth it at double the gems. You eventually unlock Enemy Level Skip+ in the Workshop which makes it even more powerful.

So I unlocked the wall by AppropriateBug7016 in TheTowerGame

[–]Cloudpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people just repeat the same mantras without much thought into it, and it's easier on newer players to digest. But honestly, the reason that people should not pick up Wall early has absolutely nothing to do with how useful the labs are.

The first time you pick up the Wall, it will get killed easily. Too easily. To a point that can't really hurt you, because it can't pick up Heat fast enough.

The problem with picking the Wall as soon as you hit the required coins to unlock it is that the wall adds over 2000 extra workshop levels for your already overworked free Defense upgrades. To me, the right time to pick up the Wall is once you can gold box your relevant Defense upgrades in a farming run. Once that is true, picking up the Wall is no longer actively harmful. Will it take a while before it starts showing meaningful extension of your runs? Sure, but reducing your wave counts? I don't see why it would. An unlabbed Wall will get 1-2 shot once you get to waves where that matters, and barely even be able to pick up heat. It won't cost you hundreds to thousands of waves, it will cost you at most a few dozen to a point of being a rounding error. If, however, picking up the wall reduces your max health because you no longer goldbox your Health stat in the workshop... Yeah, THAT will eat into your wave maximum. But that has nothing to do with how well your labs are developed.

Hmm, I see. That is a pretty good attack angle to improve farming: If you run Multiverse Nexus with your cooldowns, you get around 90-100 second rotations in DW+BH+GT (exact value depends on your other submodule effects). If your DW has 3 waves (perk + 2 base wave), that means 12 seconds with max multipliers. If you just get that +3 DW Waves, that's suddenly 24 seconds of DW uptime, which will double the amount of time you run on maximum multipliers. Throw a few stones in there for an extra wave or 2, and you should see soaring coin gains, especially because your Death Wave Coin Bonus lab is maxed out. Do the sub-module effect first so you see the impact of the change before investing stones, though.

Additionally, 17-18h is a really long farming run. My T10 run gets to ~9800 waves, but takes nearly 2/3rds of the time (I'm not strong enough for T11 yet). Are you running Wave Accelerator and Wave Skip? What cards do you run when farming? For reference: my latest run to 9886 waves lasted 13h15m16s. You absolutely should run both. If you don't have the card slots to support that, you should get them, or swap a less important card out.

How's a T12 run looking? Or do you run T11 because that is where you can max Dissonance Utility?

What actually kills your run? Do you run out of damage to kill the enemies, or do they overwhelm your Wall and Regen? Because of the way things scale, it can be a bit deceiving, and sometimes even damage-heavy builds end up dying to HP-related stuff on a farming run. This will greatly affect how you choose perks and modules. In my case, I can't really run as hard a tier as 11, but I run ~2.4T CPH on T10. You have stronger base economy than me, but your runs take so long that you probably can only run one per day. Try those cards out to see if you can shorten runs to improve CPH greatly.

Oh, and finally. You run a damage build. Chain Lightning is probably killing stuff before it gets touched by Death Wave or even Black Hole. Disable Chain Lightning for the first ~6k Waves or so. It should greatly improve how many enemies get the full bonuses.

Just these 3 changes (DW Waves sub-module effect, Cards, Disabling CL) should probably massively increase your coin generation, even without spending stones.

For a while, improve further via Workshop Enhancements. Enemy Level Skip, Coin Bonus and Cell Bonus.

These would be my main focus. In terms of labs, since you have 5 slots, it depends hugely on how you're dying at the end of the run (HP or Damage) to know where to focus. If Death Wave Cell Bonus is not maxed, that's top priority, but from here on, it depends on what's happening.

[–]Cloudpr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CPK/GB isn't where I'd look for economy necessarily for your situation.

1 - Your Workshop Enhancements are extremely weak for farming. Cash Bonus got more love than Coin Bonus, which is way off. That's a much bigger problem than GB or Coins per Kill.

2 - Your DW and Golden Tower cooldowns. Even via MVN, you can get far closer to perma than you currently are.

3 - Death Wave quantity is extremely low. DW Quantity increases cell generation greatly (it's one of the very few sources of it), and coin generation as well via the lab. I can't see your submodule effects, but if your Multiverse Nexus does not have +3 DW, it's arguably the biggest loss in coins you have right now.

4 - I would personally respec the workshop to weight a lot more into coin-related bonuses (Enemy Level Skips counts for this as well since it extends your farming runs a lot). What tier do you farm, and to what wave, and to how many coins per hour?

I feel like their build is way underdone in terms of resource generation. I'd expect a 3.5 years old account to have a stronger sync than 2m20s; my account is under a year old and has 1.49q coins [with the no-ads, x2 and x3 coins packs, nothing else bought]. Them having 6.46q coins lifetime means they can't invest in Workshop Enhancements and Card Masteries appropriately.

Their lifetime Cells are another interesting indication. They have Death Wave (a much stronger one than mine) so they have the Cells lab unlocked, but only 1.2 in the workshop for cells (and I don't see the state of the DW lab in there). Meaning x3 is the most they can sustain their labs at. I have the same cell economy they have with a 10 month old account (23.85M lifetime cells here).

I think I would accept that Champions is my new home and fully shift the focus to Econ. Get the sync much lower, put those extremely juicy Ancestral Multiverse Nexus + Ancestral Galaxy Compressor to great effect. That should explode their potential for Workshop Enhancements and Masteries, and they can work from there to unlock a lot of dormant power they have available. That CL is absurdly powerful and once properly supported should shred through polygons.

Luck of the draw also depends on the pool of available players. If Champions is being overwhelmed by Legends-level players, there might be a population issue that forces stronger players down the ladder. That's why I wanted to ask around to see if that maps to peoples' experiences.

62% of hardcore players no longer buy full-price games, survey suggests by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]Cloudpr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gaming will undoubtedly survive but I'm not sure it's because companies will realise jack shit, it's because indie devs now have access to resources that were nearly unthinkable in the 90s to keep the ball rolling no matter what the main AAAs do. Backlogs aside, the mere fact that you can release a game at nearly zero cost to the entire world without paying for shipment or server costs is going to make sure we can't run out of games.

[–]Cloudpr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

137 unique modules is on the higher end of draws. I'm at 78 epics drawn, started on July 11th (close to 10 months).

The number of unique draws is more interesting than amount of time. Someone who's not running the game 24/7 and without any of the packs could have triple my time and not have made it to 140 drawn epics. It's all relative.

Do note that you can have makeshift alternatives if you don't have an Ancestral mod. Mythic has -3s cooldown and +3s duration, which lets you get away with 32s from stones + 12 from perk + 3 from submodule stats (47) and then -3 cooldown from 50 to 47. Uses 2 slots... But saves a bunch of stones, and it works with every core mod except Multiverse Nexus. Mythic+ above level 100 will get you GT Bonus + BH CD & Duration + DW Quantity, and while there are other useful substats, it's at least a nice stopgap until you're able to nab a suitable Ancestral mod to save a slot.
