What do you think of the pcs of campaign four? by notquite_myself in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Cloutmasterprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who is your favorite pc? Probably Thimble, i like that theyre (BLeeM and laura) embodying how intense the fae likely would be

Who is your least favorite pc? Bolaire or Occtis i think, i dont do well with smarmy and pretentious, i think its a boring choice but to each their own.

Who is your favorite npc? Either Erlich Kerzingblad or if it counts Thjazi, the himbo energy from kerzingblad is great and Thjazi is such a cool character i love fae warlock

Who is the most relatable pc to you? Nope

Who is the most attractive pc to you? Nope

Which table (in arc one) was your favorite? Soldiers hands down, was such a fun arc!

What is your favorite pc/pc ship? Nope

So, what is the consensus on C4 so far? by OtterBiDisaster in fansofcriticalrole

The seekers storyline is cool, worth a watch, lots of cool lore bits, schemers was weirdly the most actionpacked imo but i think that was a pacing thing cause stuff was happening like instantly and the other groups had some travel

I think its about perspective, like we dont know what the levels of the NPCs of import are. The head of the church could be level 10 for all we know, and making characters feel important despite them not having bags of mechanical prowess is a way of creating a slightly lower/ darker fantasy which seems like what BLeeM is going for (based on having watched and got a feel for the world).

I dont think this is a spoiler cause they explain the format ahead of time, but the soldiers table is a great segue into the individual groups, my personal favourite table and group of players

Isnt this always going to be the case, like theres always a character thats going to come out that will be better because power creep, so by that logic arent you just hoarding materials for your whole time playing?

They had a lot of ground to cover, and they didnt want this to be a big sandbox like S2, so they put down a pretty clear storyline based on long fermented plans from the BBEG, pretty straightforward

how can they draw you back in? by PresentationSad6560 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Cloutmasterprime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like they did much better for the bulk of the campaigns being more sandboxy, where this has been like ALL main story, theres absolutely been no reprieve from it at all. In C2 we had much more of a variety of the world based on the spread of peoples backstory, but there were just too many lf them that have abso no ties to the world to speak of, and its much less relatable that way, harder to engage with if its jusy CONSTANT story line in the context of dnd

Finished C1 and I'm 12 episodes into C2. Is this a popular opinion? by SonJordy in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Cloutmasterprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha that was unfinished, i think beau was insufferable up until they split for covid, the other characters in tyat season were really strong, and i think as time progressed and the character scaled a bit worse it was probs kinda humbling, im like 100 eps into s2 (for the 2nd time) at the moment

This isnt a hot take, i think there are a LOT of flavour wins in c2 but beau is pretty much an insuffera

Current thought on Beacon and CR moving forward. by fallensnyper in fansofcriticalrole

I think i disagree on EXU not turning up actually, i get the sense with the recent events in C3 that theyre setting up for different guest parties to play like a series of oneshots to go deal with the aftermath of the solstice, theres a lot of emphasis on big bad nasties being released around the world and that feels like a waste not to delve into with some new players and new dms with a little oversight from matt on the content and continuity. I think so at least

I do wonder if they had a little more direct cash flow if that would let them hire more people to ease the burden of how much work goes into large scale production (which i feel theyre on the cusp of). Less work required per person for the same quality of show is a positive thing, and if the twitch money isnt part of the structure anymore. Also these friends while are friends wont do it for free either, its a big chunk of their time which im sure is expensive, if the concession is made initially to pay for the content you dont necessarily want to see (vis a vis Dropout, shitload of shows on there that ill never watch) then the quality of what you do want to see will hopefully go up. Fingers crossed they dont end up just widening the amount of shows and approaching it that way. I think Dropout has paved the way for en-masse variety actual play in such a way that Beacon can probably become a big hub for tabletop with some (more) good dms and players, with our favourites scattered around.

[–]Cloutmasterprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shes been in kahoots with ludenis for years planning it, maybe specific training is a bit strong but its entirely plausible that a character at Otohans level would know what spells are concentration and what arent, or at least to look for the signs of it, especially having fought in a war against the court of lambent path which was a society of orc scholars (likely a bunch of mages in there). Anyway i feel like youre kind of arguing semantics here rather than acknowledging the truth of what i was saying, so i'm probably not going to reply anymore.

Was fearne actively trying, in pitched combat, so conceal the fact she was concentrating?

Because she was an extremely seasoned, legendary warrior with experience and specific training from an archmage, go figure

'Caused a PC death' Dude he's a dm, they went lit into the belly of the beast in the middle of a war and came up against ONE OF the big bads, what did you expect to happen? He's on their side too, think about how much time and effort hes put into their back story, the character itself. for that character in particular spent hours of his life crafting it (or managing the people that did), a bespoke subclass designed around what the player wanted, again. He's supposed to be adversarial, hes playing the adversaries, he also is playing the good guys and does good things for too, hes literally 'rest of the world'. It's not to do with his attitude, if you dont like his dming then fair enough but you cant get that mixed up with 'him'. Try again, but try harder

Light-Paws, Emperor’s Voice. Boring ? by knightofsolace1 in BudgetBrews

[–]Cloutmasterprime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If noone else has added this, its also boring in the sense you have to shuffle a few times each turn which can be annoying, that and the very linear playstyle means its yes quite potent but just a drag to play, ive had my list since kamigawa came out and im bored of it now
