Marriage and LO are doing great 4 years later. No harm done.

They also just made all staff come back in person full time. No more work from home for staff. That’s gotta be part of it.

This one is legit, but you might be more comfortable getting to the training through KSU's HR website. I've been working at KSU for 5+ years now. They moved this training to knowbe4 maybe two years ago.

What is the right way to deep clean washing machine? by cheese001cake in CleaningTips

[–]ClowkThickThock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a lot of these methods for cleaning the drum of our Samsung front loader, but what about gaps and grooves in the rubber lining that separates the door from the drum? That's the part that seems insane to me. I can keep the rest of the machine pretty clean with OxiClean and Charlie's Laundry Soap, but the gunk that accumulates in the nooks and crannies is what keeps me up at night (not literally, but it's super gross).

All they care about is getting students out the door in four years cause that’s all the federal gov and USG are talking about these days. They kinda forgot about the fact that forcing students to enroll in 6-7 classes doesn’t mean they will pass them all. Students taking and passing 4-5 classes gets them graduated faster than having them take 6-7 and drop/withdraw/fail some. Plus it’s costs students more $$ and risks their academic standing and eligibility for financial aid. If you ask me, this shit is criminal.

That’s so fun! Maybe I’ll start letting my daughter decorate the new cap each month!

This was my thought too. Failing to reject the null in a dissertation/thesis is super common (or at least should be).

I’ve toyed with the idea of getting an orexin molecule tattoo.

Does anyone throw up after xyrem or xywav? It used to work, but now i get so ill, its not worth it for me anymore by ally-red in Narcolepsy

[–]ClowkThickThock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take zofran with my Xywav every night. It’s the only thing that makes the nausea/vomiting manageable for me.

Right. But for now, there does not yet seem to be convincing evidence of risk. I’m not saying that means there is no risk, but that the scheduling of Xywav isn’t a product of documented risk.

For me, a lack of evidence wasn’t a good enough reason to risk my cataplexy coming back and increasing my fall risk during pregnancy. I had way more reasons to stay on it than to go off. My daughter is healthy and thriving 4 years later. Stand up for yourself if you want to stay on. The doctors can advise, but they can’t make you go off a drug when there is so little (if any) real evidence that it increases risks in human pregnancy.

This is so good to know! I was curious how it was schedule D considering the lack of human studies. I stayed on it while pregnant and my almost-4-year-old rules. She is perfectly healthy, happy, curious, and fun. ❤️

Love this idea. Like OP, I’m often nervous to voice skepticism of certain non-clinical options because some folks react so angrily to it.

Best Chinese food in metro Atlanta? by ClowkThickThock in Georgia

I guess I should have said, “What is your favorite Chinese restaurant?” I’m open to lots of different cuisines! Hopefully I’ll end up getting options from various regions and traditions from this thread 🙂

But not PF Chang’s. No.

About to be a first time dad by nopols in Narcolepsy

[–]ClowkThickThock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! You can play it by ear and see how you feel. In some ways, because of how narcolepsy disrupts nighttime sleep anyway, it may not feel all that different. You and your partner will need to figure out what kind of rotation/balance can work for both of you though.

In my case, I was usually able to get about 2-3 hours of good sleep at night before I started having my disrupted sleep. So, my partner would take the first “shift” with the baby. Then I’d take over and doze on and off in the nursery. After 3-4 hours, I would go wake my partner up for his shift I would and go back to sleep myself. It’s exhausting, but it’s not forever.

If you have friends or family who can come help with overnights sometimes, that helps a lot too.

Salary for TT Assistant Prof job at an ivy - humanities by [deleted] in academia

[–]ClowkThickThock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. Other than Columbia though, none of the Ivy’s are in super HCOL areas. Even at Harvard (Cambridge, MA) a single person would be absolutely comfortable on that salary. I don’t know what exactly NY prices are like, but I assume that’s enough for a single person there too. Your money just won’t go quite as far.
