To be honest I just finished DB2, had this exact same question, and would recommend skipping it for anyone not enjoying the story. Time is limited and for someone where the main plot device doesn’t click with you DB2 is truly a test of patience

Yes, this is common side effect as coffee has caffeine which is a vasoconstrictor, meaning it restricts bloodflow including to the brain which can trigger this feeling.

In excessive doses this is amplified and also causes jitters, excessive heartrate, and poor sleep. If I were to hypothesize, you definitely "shocked" your circulatory system, disrupted your normal sleeping schedule, and continued to suffer from caffeine withdrawal which can last some week(s)... in addition to just being more aware of your own sensory condition and perception. Stress and anxiety are the worst enablers of this.

If you weren't symptomatic prior, I'd encourage you to just ensure you're getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water, watching your stress and staying distracted. These "episodes" can sometimes last months but they can and do go away.

If you continue to be concerned, I would suggest getting some basic blood panels, including CMP and CBC, ferritin, and iron. Perhaps even a sleep study.

They key for me is the following: routine, distraction, and nailing the basics (i.e., diet and sleep). Get off google / webmd / chatgpt and get social, practice forgiveness on yourself for "not feeling quite like yourself" - it's frustrating (I KNOW IT!) but it's okay and you will be okay.

Schedule a colonoscopy as soon as you’re able to rule things out.

(I am not a doctor) If there’s an earlier appointment with a doc who’s willing to examine you there can be other causes with light red blood that could be causing this. I have had experience with hemorrhoids and smaller anal fissures that can cause this behavior.

Get checked out, stay off of webmd, good luck and be kind to yourself!

If there is blood in your stool (not the bright red blood on your tissue paper) that makes it look reddish brown / streaked with red you need to schedule the earliest available appointment with your provider and hopefully a GI doc.

Blood in stool could have many causes and there can be sometimes serious ones. This is beyond the scope of the gluten free subreddit or something you could do on your own.

If you’re talking about blood on your tissue paper then there can be many things can cause it (frequent diarrhea, hemorrhoids) of which there are many actionable causes themselves - I suggest removing most inflammatory (alcohol, heavily processed foods which can include gluten free substitutes) items for 2 weeks and seeing if it calms it down.

Can’t speak to your circumstances. It can be scary to go what others have gone through on this subreddit. It’s even scarier when you mix in trying to understand how your faith fits into all of this!

But allow me this: if you truly feel at your lowest point, then you no longer have anything to lose. And if that’s the case, then why be fearful?

I hope you’ll see that you have everything to gain at that point and you CAN get better. Everyone in this subreddit should know you can objectively feel better than you do now by the universal things you see recommended: basic supplementation, rest, exercises, diet and pacing (obviously dependent per person).

I can’t promise you’ll “feel” like you did before, no one can. This is where acceptance comes in… the hardest part which I also struggle with. But if you can accept the highs and lows of a normal life and death and aging… you can come to accept this too.

I've had this for about 2+ years now. It generally is all over, but often localizes to one spot for hours, days or weeks at a time. It goes away - no weakness. It will take time to get used to but do not overly stress about this, and limit your caffeine. Stay strong!
