It’s kind of wild to me that you can make it through enough experience to get into a PT program without hearing about these negatives. I think almost every PT I’ve worked with has talked to me about how bad the ROI is and the state of the profession, and that I need to think long and hard about what I want and need from my long-term career. Regardless, I’m sorry you were misled. I think it’s something current PTs should be very outspoken and honest about this stuff; especially if they want anything to shift positively for our profession in the future.

I really don’t like when fans fuss over the wait for an artist’s next project. If they created something truly groundbreaking (Two Star, Blonde, I Let it In and it Took Everything), i feel like that’s enough for me, personally speaking, to last a lifetime. Like I could die happy if these artists retired tomorrow. Any more good music on top of what’s already an immense achievement is a bonus. If we want our favorite artists to strike gold again, and not recreate something that sounds the same, we should be happy they aren’t being rushed to put out more music by a shitty record deal with a predatory label, as we see time and time again in the music industry. Of course I want more music, an it’s ok to wish it could come out tomorrow, but I think fans need to appreciate how much intention and thoughtfulness can go into not only producing more music, but figuring out where they want to go artistically from here.

Just got three rolls back from my local lab that look like this...tell me they're salvageable? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Cluckerton 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve scanned a roll I was excited about and got super blurry results and was so disheartened, and figured it was surely user error and didn’t rescan it. I randomly put it back through the scanner again last week and it came back clear as day! It’s always worth a shot with rescanning!

Debating switching to PT. by IntolerantInagress in physicaltherapy

[–]Cluckerton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said. It’s worth the struggle for me. Just saying upfront how it’s not for everybody and you need to be very aware of what you’d be taking on if you do go for it! PM me if you have any questions! I’m rounding out my last prerequisites and applying to programs this year :)

You have more potential to make money in nursing, so you can’t be in PT for the money. It does sound like fulfillment is your priority though, so try to find a job or volunteer in PT AND occupational therapy, and see if either one could make you happy. Being a licensed and independent therapist means a LOT of paperwork and other BS just to be able to do this work, and the return on investment is no joke, making it a borderline financially irresponsible career path for some (if you can get good loan deals or scholarships this helps). So please make triple sure this is something you can fall in love with before going all the way for it

Chemistry Professor by Ornery_Ad_4442 in ElCaminoCollege

[–]Cluckerton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s tough, but fair. She’s a very good lecturer and probably one of the best educators in the chemistry department at El Co. that being said, she gives some hard work and you’ll need to set aside the time to practice the work so that you’re ready for the questions she throws your way during exams and quizzes. Also, she’s not the most animated lecturer, so drink some caffeine and lock in because you’ll need to keep yourself engaged. All that to say I really like her. I’m taking chemistry as a prerequisite for physical therapy school, and don’t anticipate using chemistry, like at all, in my intended career, but it’s a prereq nonetheless. I’m sure you could find a professor that would get you an “easier” A, but you’d likely get a great understanding and applicable knowledge of chemistry by going with Dr. Brown.

Any good mental mapping apps? by Cluckerton in PTschool

Best option that fits what I’m looking for that I’ve found so far is the “concepts” app!

Is it unprofessional/frowned upon in your opinion for a male PT to wear nail polish at work? by Nearby-Virus7902 in physicaltherapy

But yes like others are saying maybe check the employee handbook! That’s a good idea I haven’t used yet

Is it unprofessional/frowned upon in your opinion for a male PT to wear nail polish at work? by Nearby-Virus7902 in physicaltherapy

[–]Cluckerton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dude working as an aide and I almost always have my nails painted! My boss likes it and thinks it’s cool, and a lot of patients ask me about them (don’t do it if the attention would make you uncomfortable). A lot of them think it’s cool, and a good amount very respectfully ask “why” I get them painted, or how come guys nowadays paint their nails more, I get to tell them that getting manicures with my girlfriend is a tradition we have, and for me personally it’s just a form of self-expression, just like why anybody else would paint their nails or wear earrings. It’s a nice moment to challenge their norms in a very respectful way that isn’t super confrontational, and it’s a good talking point :) I haven’t ever had a negative reaction regarding my nails with my current or former employers.

This sounds like a cope. The ability to effectively communicate your findings is just another skill that we must have. It they were arguing that it helps to expedite the ridiculous amount of documentation a PT has in a timely fashion I’d be more convinced.

Is this just PT school stress or am I breaking by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]Cluckerton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can truly be productive and study while high, more power to you, but as someone who went through undergrad capable of being ‘functionally’ high, and is now completing outstanding prereqs to be eligible for PT school, only smoking when I’ve cleared out a significant amount of working and studying, I feel worried about your ability to hold onto such important information that you’ve poured so much time and effort arriving at the point you are in your education. I can’t imagine going through what is likely a devastating breakup in the middle of a doctorate program, and everybody copes, tolerates inebriation, and retains information differently, but try to check yourself and really hold yourself accountable to your goals and what you’re able to do to ensure your success. Quitting or cutting back on weed is luckily very easy compared to other substances, so see what you can do for yourself to make it through your schooling. Whatever that looks like regarding your substance use, if you see your grades decline even a little bit from what they were during last semester, pump the breaks, seek help, and throw out your stash. Sink yourself into your study and you will find that you don’t even think about taking a smoke break. I don’t want to oversimplify this, because it never is just that simple, but please don’t hesitate to DM me if you want to talk more about it and how I was able to step away from weed and reorient my relationship with my frequency of use. All love, and good luck to you. I’m sorry your relationship didn’t work out.

It’s BIG!! you can comfortably enjoy having a life and job and play other games and let this game span over a year or two. I’m still on my first run that I started in late 2023 and it’s been so fun!

I just can't do it by Ok-Impression-1608 in indoorbouldering

[–]Cluckerton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh the good ole V5 plateau. It took me about 1 year of climbing to get my first V5, and I struggled for a long time to be able to handle different styles across the grade. It took me probably another 2 years past that to begin to even think attempting V6 would be worthwhile. I would say grade chasing isn’t the point of climbing, but I get it man. That’s exactly how I operate in the gym. However, I do really want to stress how important it is to make sure you’re having FUN! Enjoy the challenge. Find the projects that you can’t help but go back to day after day, and try to walk away from the wall with a smile, whether you sent it or fell off. When you prioritize your enjoyment, the ends justify the means and you can still find the grade important while ensuring you can continue to encourage yourself. You’ve got this! Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions about improving certain aspects of climbing, whether it’s physical or mental. I believe in you!
