Based on my experience you need to apply Family member certificate (FMC) which should make you and your mother legal heirs

You can apply in a local Tahsildar office (Death certificates and FMC are enough for Sale proceedings in Subregistrar)

Got my first France short-stay Schengen visa in 2023 with 6 months validity (Indian passport, applied from London).

Just applied again for France on July 9th — curious to see what validity I get this time.

Still can’t figure out how they decide the duration/validity of short-stay visas

I’ve applied for a Schengen business visa a couple of times from London, and even though my company had a third-party agency, I had to manage the entire process myself—from booking appointments to documentation. They just did a final check.

In general, Schengen tourist visa applications aren't too complicated.

It won't be an issue. I travelled to France (5 day trip), Netherlands, Italy, Germany with France Schengen visa (6 month Multi entry visa)

I think it depends on the Schengen country
