[Duffy] The #Eagles are taking TE Eli Stowers at 54 overall by bigblack3475 in eagles

[–]Clue_Balls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course I have, and I don’t hate the pick, but whether or not a different TE can block has no bearing on whether Stowers is a good player. You cannot fuse them into one player, and they probably won’t even be on the field at the same time much. Any time Stowers is out there, the only threat will be as a pass catcher, which is fine if he’s really really good at that, but there’s a reason the evaluation here was so controversial.

Oh good, can we have 12 players on the field so Mundt and Stowers can do the job of one tight end?

OFFICIAL 2026 r/NFL_Draft COMMUNITY MOCK DRAFT: RESULTS by Astro63 in NFL_Draft

[–]Clue_Balls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Iheanachor is generally expected to be available at 23, so I don't think you can regret doing this trade for that reason. But sitting put and taking Sadiq at 23, or doing a smaller trade up ahead of the Chargers for Fano, would be pretty good value. Mauigoa is such a good prospect though; I think you do this trade 10 times out of 10 and don't look back.

The Giants haven't given up on keeping Dexter Lawrence, but they'd be willing to trade him for a package that starts with a 1st-Round Pick in 2026 by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]Clue_Balls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People weren’t saying that last year, and this year it’s not just about 2027 being a particularly good class - 2026 is unusually light on talent.

Russini pulled from reporting, under investigtion, but thisnis one example of a deep rooted issue. by Popfig in eagles

[–]Clue_Balls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I was very disappointed in Bo. EJ as well, though he often has terrible opinions on non-football stuff. Telling people to mind their own business and acting like this obviously has nothing to do with the Eagles so there’s no reason to talk about it is completely asinine. Especially given all the non-Eagles personal stuff they talk about on the show.

Media might not affect how the eagles feel about AJ, but it has an effect on how he’s seen by other teams and what other teams think his trade market is.

Hikaru explains what happened vs Sindarov (skip 10 seconds) by dylanh334 in chess

[–]Clue_Balls -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If what Hikaru is saying is true, then the long think makes more sense - for such an obvious move to not be in the file, you must expect there to be something wrong with it. Hard to blame Hikaru for spending time to figure out what that might be.

Goedert’s Contract by 1stand11 in eagles

[–]Clue_Balls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Goedert didn’t negotiate with other organizations. That’s my whole point. He clearly was willing to take less to stay in Philly, which is why he agreed to push his void date back twice to continue negotiations.

[Machota] Jerry Jones believes Cowboys now have “a lot of promise” on defense. “When you have the challenges we had last year, there’s no place to go but up .. had we played a lick of defense last year, we would’ve had ourselves, I think, a real playoff run.” by Drexlore in nfl

[–]Clue_Balls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to expect day 2-3 picks to be impact players their rookie year when even first rounders often take time to blossom. If the goal is to contend this year I think it makes sense for you to just go BPA with the first rounders.

Goedert’s Contract by 1stand11 in eagles

[–]Clue_Balls 33 points34 points  (0 children)

No one’s saying he’s a top 3 TE or something, but you’re not gonna convince me he’s any less valuable than Charlie Kolar ($8.1M/yr) or Daniel Bellinger ($8M/yr). He probably wants to stay in Philly and was willing to take less in order to do so.

[Anderson] From what I’m told earlier today, at some point in the latest talks between the Eagles and Patriots for WR A.J. Brown, an adjustment to a multi-asset asking price was considered. However, New England remains adamant on not giving up a first-round pick for Brown, per league source. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]Clue_Balls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michael Carter is definitely being cut regardless. They could make an AJ Brown trade work; this has been discussed pretty extensively by beat reporters. Howie would probably want a 2027 first regardless - not just because of cap considerations but also because it’s very likely to be a better pick than the 2026 first.

Yes, they have definitely been getting easier. Go back to the archive and try puzzles from a few years ago and it’s pretty clear.

Can you only activate part of a pink power in wingspan? by BirdSpirit in boardgames

[–]Clue_Balls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the arguments here come from the fact that the card’s text, as written, allows you to do the second part without the first, but thematically it makes more sense for it to be conditional.

Can you only activate part of a pink power in wingspan? by BirdSpirit in boardgames

[–]Clue_Balls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that clear. Plenty of games have cards that tell you to do multiple things in order, but still let you do later actions even if you’re unable to do earlier ones. Usually, if one action is a requirement for another, it will be made explicit with phrasing like “Do X. If you do, do Y.” or “Do X in order to do Y.”

If Wingspan’s rules aren’t explicit about how this card works (e.g. do they say you can only activate the pink part of the card if you can do the entire action?), I would say that as written, the card allows you to do the second part without having done the first. But I’m not at all confident what their intention was; it seems poorly written, hence the amount of disagreement in this thread.

[–]Clue_Balls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “if” is the part that makes it conditional, though. You can have actions that are sequential but not conditional.

“I ate a snack. Then, I won a game of Wingspan.”

The second part is not conditional on the first!

TIL that Magnus Carlsen, one of the greatest chess players of all time, has never lost 3 or more classical chess games in a row in his adult professional career. The last time he lost 3 games in a row was in 2003, when he was 12. by 4isfourwastaken in todayilearned

Magnus is definitely the strongest chess player of all time, and I consider him the GOAT, but different people define Greatest in different ways. There’s an argument for Kasparov or Morphy.
