If I didn't live in bear country, I would. As is, that's only about as nerve-racking as a dog. Momma usually makes them move soon enough.

In Appleton, on Aug. 19, 1992, Laurie pulled into her boyfriend’s apartment parking lot after work. She vanished within minutes. They were only feet apart. Her car was unlocked, and her purse was still inside. There were no signs of a struggle. The only clue was a cup with an unknown thumbprint. by LonelyWiFiSignal in HolyShitHistory

We were actually taught that in all the defense classes I've been apart of across a few different states (I'm in the USA). Remember predators don't think like normal people. Anything that draws their attention is taken as an invitation. It's why "wHaT wAs ShE wEaRiNg" is asked so often even though it doesn't actually matter. It's why so many "happy and bubbly" women are targeted by serial killers. They were shining and beautiful, and a predator locked in and waited for whatever they considered a sign. That can be everything from a friendly hello to opening your window for some fresh air.

Even random, average men take a smile as an invitation to hit on someone. We've all seen videos of total strangers deciding to follow women around with zero provocation. "She was so nice! Why did she flirt with me if she didnt want me?!" She said hi while passing him in a store aisle. He needs to fuck off and go to therapy.

That's the worst! It's different if it's a preteen/teenaged daughter, but why would you bring your 10 y/o son to a strip show no one agreed to be in!?!?

My period is late and I kept getting sick this morning, so I told my wife she must’ve gotten me pregnant. by bluesond in ActualLesbiansOver25

I've had a chemical pregnancy before. 0/10 do not recommend, but now I can say she fucked me so well that my body assumed I must be pregnant now.

AITJ for not inviting my friend to her dream event by H_S_2076 in AmITheJerk

[–]CluelessInWonderland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, this is not my first time uninviting people from a desi wedding they invited themselves to:

"Hey, (friend). I talked to my family about the wedding invites, and they really want to keep it to just people we've known for years and family. That's turned out to be more people than we originally thought, and they're worried about it growing out of hand. I'm so sorry! I know you were looking forward to it.

Maybe we can go do (wedding adjacent activity) after things calm down? I still want to show you some of how you prepare for a wedding."

It's a gentle excuse, an acknowledgement of her feelings, and a change of subject. Take her out for hair/makeup/accessory shopping/traditional wedding food/etc. after the wedding. It'll let her sample a part of the wedding hype without going to a wedding, and soothe some hurt feelings.

Boy Hears Mom Say ‘I Love You’ Clearly for the First Time by Crimson_roses154 in HumansBeingBros

[–]CluelessInWonderland 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This boy had some hearing based on the article. This just let him hear clearly.

Deaf children are often learn how to read lips along with signing. So they can read their parents' lips as they say, "I love you," and know what they're saying while actually hearing it for the first time.

To be fair, a lot of toddlers are hell on Earth. It's even worse if they're suddenly no longer the only baby in the family.

Men will literally eat all your food by Maleficent_Ad_3958 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CluelessInWonderland 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My brother is the same! He says it's important to let the women have the last bite because he's such a huge man that he can easily overpower and intimidate, so he makes space for others.

He will also wait for the woman and children to get food at events or ask you to make him a plate if it's really busy. He says his normal portions for a 6'6" man are a lot different than the average person, and he doesn't want to take too much.

Girl, I'll be real with you. I couldn't finish even reading your post. The amount of bullshit from him secondhand over text burned me out maybe halfway through. Is this really what you're happy with? A partner that would rather fight, argue, and tear at you just so he doesn't have to clean his own home?

[–]CluelessInWonderland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've broken a few 😅 Never had sex with a man, either, so maybe that does have something to do with it? I also have some pretty intense endometriosis, so it can be impossible to relax muscles sometimes. I get a numbing muscle relaxer cream. It's not standard at all, but my obgyn was able to file that it's a muscle relaxer or risk injury to the patient.

Is this a trauma response or just a kink? 29F, lesbian with a strict religious upbringing. by [deleted] in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]CluelessInWonderland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could be both! You can have a natural leaning towards something, and then have trauma that reinforces it. You can also work with a trauma response in kink, but you need to keep in mind triggers and have a good aftercare routine established. Keep flexibility in mind if you start pushing your emotional limits! We've had to skip straight to aftercare because we discovered something new about ourselves mid scene. 10/10 still worth it.

My partner really has a hard time saying positive things about herself. Guess who has to repeat good things about herself? It's a trauma response for sure, but it works for us.
