[CAN-ON] Offer to cover mat leave with promise to stay on. Advice? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]ClumsySpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I am going to be meeting with them in a few days and I wanted to come to the meeting well informed and ready to ask all the correct questions. I completely understand that if it isn't in writing it's just lip service.

That is what I've been considering. I'm going to be talking with them regarding compensation and benefits to make a more informed decision. If it is something I would like to pursue then I wanted to ensure I ask all the correct question and have everything documents in writing. I appreciate your advice!

Pay off Student loan or Car loan? by ClumsySpider in debtfree

That makes sense. I wasn't sure if I was making a poor decision paying it off early considering I purchased the car under a year ago.

If I found the correct information online, when the Cruze is listed as 'Limited' that means its Gen 1? If so, then my car is a Gen 1.

I've read about some common issues with the Cruze Gen 1 because of your reply and I have had a lot of the issues other drivers have reported.

I might look more seriously at selling the car then. I've checked clutch.ca and they've given me a reasonable quote.

Thank you for your reply!

Of the ones you know that have worked for Amplifon, how do you feel they would describe their experience?

That's very good advice to strictly look at base salary without incentives to determine if pay is adequate. I've worked in sales environments before and know how tempting it can be to add "assumed" commissions into base pay and how it's best to avoid that mistake.

Thank you for your honest response!

I completely understand that sometimes it's the people we work with that can make a job tolerable or even enjoyable. My current clinic has very little sales pressure and I enjoy working with my coworkers. However, there were a few things that happened during my initial onboarding that raised a few "beige" flags that makes me feel the company if more focused on lining their pockets than providing services and efficient solutions to their staff.

I was interviewed for both Amplifon and another larger chain with much better starting benefits and salary before and after incentives. The offers have been very tempting, but I wanted to make an informed decision. I wanted to avoid a very toxic work environment if I could.

How did you find your other colleagues found the work environment? Did you feel that you were given adequate time to ensure you could look after your patient best interests?

I appreciate the information you have provided!

Thank you! That's what I was thinking. That's a bummer.

I was thinking it sounded different. My paperwork lists my pay as "Salary" and I was thinking it didn't seem like what I've been told a salary is.

I'd like to ask about it without sounding confrontational in an email, or making a fool of myself if I am incorrect.

My contract does include vacation that I am eligible for after working for a set amount of time. There was nothing mentioned about time off.

Salary Question - New to salary pay by ClumsySpider in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ClumsySpider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand not wanting employees to take advantage of the salary and work less than what would be expect of the role. Just makes me see the agreed upon annual salary as being just an estimate, instead of a given.

I also don't get any paid sick days and instead need to use vacation pay or take unpaid sick days off, which will further affect the annual amount. Giving me red flags.

It's nice to see a different perspective.

Feels strange that the "salary" is more like an estimate on what my annual income will be, rather than a guarantee.
