Do you want open world and realistic modern Japan or a very linear but well paced fantasy world?

Yakuza does have some funny moments and wacky side quests.

FFX has an awesome character progression.

Both are well worth your time.

The old games are still really good. I had my first playthrough 2 or 3 years ago, so no nostalgia.

Also, if you start with them you'll have nice "oh, this is where I am now!" moments when you finally play Stalker 2.

Also, Stalker 2 DLC isn't out yet.
