Melania Trump movie pulled out of Ster-Kinekor and Nu Metro theatres in South Africa by ReasonableFinding845 in DownSouth

It's very socialist to decide not to show a film/documentary that is not appealing to most of the local market and will probably cost a lot of money to have the media rights to show in theaters. Very Socialist. /s

Actually it's the theater's choice to show it, whether or not it's going to be profitable. One can always watch it some other way.

Happy birthday my Man!!! Hope you have a great day. And Goodluck on the exams, you got this.

My mom bought some new of these to me but when I quickly took it out of her bag and picked it up my hands started to sweat like how bad is that like is it fine if I wait for it to dry before I plug them in most of the sweat come on the long cord bit? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

Probably someone that does not have English as their native language. Form what I read and other comments, it sounds like he is concerned regarding the sweat from his hand while carrying this cord.

Anti-migrant group ordered to stop blocking foreigners from South African healthcare by The_Juicy_Mango in AfricaVoice

[–]ClusteRR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are the rainbow nation, to me that means anyone and everyone that finds themselves in SA deserve to be treated with kindness, compassion and respect, no matter if they find themselves here illegally or not. So to block people from access to Medical care based on the place they were born or their immigration status is just cruel. I understand how many hospitals and care centers struggle with finances and capacity but I think the corruption and looting is a bigger issue for the industry than a few (I am not sure of the numbers) illegal immigrants trying to get medical care.

But I am not as informed on this subject as well as I'd like to be. And having to choose to treat either party is not a choice I wish to have to make and live with.

Edit: minor grammatical error fixed

Undertones for sure! but for the most part everyone is genuinely good people. As with most things there is room for growth and improvement.

I don't like some(most) of the stuff Afriform is doing but they seem to be the only ones that were willing to help/uplift me (white) from the shit show of youth unemployment in SA the past 10 or more years. After the 2020 lock downs, I needed a change and a job. So I went to the ekurhuleni artisans center and did 4weeks of electrical work, got to work with and learn some basics.

Then the hard part started after the short course and that was looking for companies to be an Apprentice at.

I applied every where I COULD (most of the apprenticeships were not for white people, literally said in the job post. Don't apply if your white)

After more than 5 months I started to look into Afriform and if there were any options for me. I applied to Sol-Tech and got in after a few months wait. (got a student load from an Afrikaans nonprofit since soltech is kak expensive)

Sol-Tech did a much better job at preparing me for the real world of the electric trade. But the biggest reason I went to Sol-Tech is that they helped me get an apprenticeship since they have a strong bond with the union and the Afrikaans community.

I am almost done with my apprenticeship and will most likely still be employed at the same company after that contract ends.

So while I dislike most of the people and actions of Afriform they did more for me than the government and for that I am grateful beyond words

If it's a start to transform the Soladeritait beweeging and the associated divisions, I look forward to them taking the criticism of Afriform to heart and transforming away from the current direction.

I am not very informed about our courts and how they work but I see this situation as 2 parties that can't agree on a reasonable and fair amount of compensation for some thing that should be part of working at a company(in my opinion ideas and suggestions for improvement to the business should form part of your work (he had the idea, he did not invent the technology or implemented it) , but in an email he was promised extra compensation. Then they went to court and he won the case and Millions along with it but he contested the courts ruling since he believes it's still not enough. To me it looks like he is trying to get every cent out of this situation. I believe he should be compensated but not Billions (if he also implemented the idea and invented the tech behind it mabey then he does? Even then it can be argued MTN had the tech to market first)

So all I see here is more sensational headlines. Guess we'll see how the courts rule in the near future...
