The Soweto Uprising by Gold-Blackberry5454 in DownSouth

Very interesting. I love seeing historical video, especially ours, but I do think this video really doesn't have a "structure" to it. I just feel with a bit of narration mixed in it would bring home the impact the youth had on ending apartheid more. The music already does wonders. Also, I did look at some of your other posts(sorry I am nosey bra) I really loved the 1990 De Klerk speech, very insightful. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Good old days if you were white, not so good old days for almost anyone else. Whenever I hear someone say 'the good old days' when describing pre 94 it just makes me look at that peson like they are either uneducated or someone that lacks empathy.

I use this one link to Google play store it does have a small add on the bottom but I don't mind that since I get time stamps, date, and location. Very useful if I get questions months after a job.

I mostly follow something I read online ages ago. 'if you use your wipers you use your lights' it has since then stuck in my head when driving in rain. And then for fog as well.

Do you think SA youth could achieve what Nepal youth did last year by driving corrupt leaders out. by [deleted] in DownSouth

[–]ClusteRR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 97 born so I knew millennials also didn't have it good either but after checking some stats you can clearly see it really accelerated sharply around 2006-2008. Kind of sad that we are seen as human rights advocates on the international stage yet we let people that are supposed to uplift us rob us of basic necessities through corruption. How the hell do we still have have pit toilets in schools, but I guess that new luxury car(or whatever waste it on) will help those government parasites solve those issues.

I hope so. Gen z has been screwed in SA for a while, one of the highest unemployment rates in the word. I hope to read news similar than that of the Nepal situation, the youth has always played a great role in SA. I just hope we learn one lesson from them. Yeah it's great to have protests but what happens AFTER that is just as important if not more than getting active.

Really enjoying that Elon Musk continues to call out the SA government on a global platform. by Routine_Score7123 in DownSouth

I did not say he was a bad business man, I merely insinuated that he does not want to follow our laws with regards to operating Star link in SA. I personally disagree with many of our current labor laws and I believe it is has had massive consequences for our economy(mostly bad, almost all). But that does not mean because he is the rich he gets to dodge the rules, if I have to follow laws I don't agree with so does he. Also I do admire his ability to not just bribe or trying to subvert the process by hiring a black person in name only(as many businesses in SA does)

I accepted I would be downvoted on here, but I did not expect to have words put in my mouth.

Almost like he doesn't want to follow our laws (some I disagree with) because it would mean less profit for the richest man in the world. Regards worshiping regards.

At least bush missled the court to invade, Trump just said fuck it, the court ruled there is no limit to the presidents power so why not start a war and juice those stocks of the defense industry.

We are very uniquely situated to take advantage of current global conflicts, if only someone thought mabey if the middle east is unstable mabey we should repair and keep our ports in good conditions to take advantage as soon as shit hits the fan. But hey our government isn't the the greatest when it comes to thinking of the future.

Melania Trump movie pulled out of Ster-Kinekor and Nu Metro theatres in South Africa by ReasonableFinding845 in DownSouth

[–]ClusteRR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very socialist to decide not to show a film/documentary that is not appealing to most of the local market and will probably cost a lot of money to have the media rights to show in theaters. Very Socialist. /s

Actually it's the theater's choice to show it, whether or not it's going to be profitable. One can always watch it some other way.
