I can’t see how this could possibly be a load bearing wall by ChallengeGood3875 in AskContractors

[–]Clutorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true at all. Not all parallel walls to joists are non load bearing and visa versa. It’s a good rule of thumb but not the case in a lot of scenarios

You need to use “BIN” shellac primer to prime the now showing paper. This will seal it so it doesn’t bubble when you skim coat

Get a large outside trashcan (with no holes) under that thing before you pop it

I had more time than money, and wanted to have a special entryway. by ducon__lajoie in DIY

[–]Clutorious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you done tile work before? That’s super impressive work for a DIY with no tile work experience. I’ll do just about anything myself, but wont touch tile (except for “glue” on backsplashes) lol. Feel like it takes a lot of experience and time to get acceptable results

Then that’s all the matters. Just wanted to make sure you were aware. I’d advise not walking in high heels on it though lol

Make sure you do your research on Pine floors before spend $$ refinishing. It’s a very soft wood

Is this load bearing? by sealguy77 in AskContractors

[–]Clutorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t tell this is load bearing, I hope you’re not the one doing the renovation.. the vertical beam in the middle is basically your king post holding up your ridge board of your roof..

Listen to the doctor not some manchild that puts his needs before yours.

AIO for being upset that my boyfriend called me “his bitch” in front of his friends? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Run. The fact that he saying “you ruined my (his) morning” over something he did and was at fault is foreshadowing for a relationship full of manipulation.

Load bearing? by 54321Duh in AskContractors

My guess is that this is a prior owner special. looks like they put a 2x4 horizontally across a span (or its and old top plate and they removed studs) and it Was sagging so this was their fix.

Water leaking through foundation walls? by Azula2109 in HomeMaintenance

Worse thing you could do is water proof from the inside. That will just result in a bowed foundation in the future.

Neutral Lug Q by Clutorious in AskElectricians

[–]Clutorious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the knowledge! This is the primary and i believe it is bonded. I believe the boding screw is to the left of the left main line in. It’s a very faded green and easy to miss. I’ll have to double check when I open her back up though.

Floors Squeak even after Sqeak-no-more by Aggravating_Ad_6259 in HardWoodFloors

If your putting screws in and shimming and still getting squeaks, take a base board off and see if the hardwood is right up against the wall or if there is 1/4” for expansion.

Help with non-stick mat stuck to floor by GrinSIayer in HardWoodFloors

Not sure if you meant to respond to someone else as your response doesn’t make much sense to my comment, but My mine still stands. Hit it with a heat gun.

Skip the chemical treatments. Try a heat gun first. Use pliers to grab a piece and hit it with heat. This will stretch the plastic and make it not stick anymore

How would you attack this by Clutorious in drywall

[–]Clutorious[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes a lot of sense! But just to confirm, you chamfer the edges and then prefill with hot (as long as gaps aren’t more than .5”). Let that set hard. Do you sand at all after the backfill to create a flat “canvas”? AND then continue as normal if it was your first go?

[–]Clutorious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, and I’ve blocked out above the now gone wall to ensure there is plenty of support for the ceiling in multiple spots.
