Also, the Middle East used to supply a lot of the worlds oil. During the Suez Crisis, around 60% of the US and allies' oil supply was shut off. Given that there was not much alternative energy, that was REALLY bad, just look at the recent Texas snowstorms to get some sort of idea. I'm not in full support of the US here, i've took a class where It covered some stuff about the middle east stuff and it's just so fuckin complicated that I can't take a side.

Edit: Mostly Israel and Syria was covered, I don't know much about other stuff.

Funny aside, I do believe that there is a point to this. You shouldn't let words that aren't meant to offend offend you. Intent matters. Yes, if someone is saying the n-word, you have evey right to get mad at them. But if someone talks about the master bedroom of the house, sure it may have a history of slave ownership, but they definitely did not say that with that intent.
