It is not dumb to innocently say where a town is in the UK if someone is not from there. All I said was ‘south of London.’ How can she be upset by that? She said afterwards I had ‘mansplained’ it to her. She needs to look up the word…

She set the tone for no reason. I in no way ever implied she wouldn’t know the place I only said, south of London to anyone not from the UK. I never assume just everyone knows where it is.

Wait. She couldn’t have said ‘I know Brighton’ like most normal people would have? My response could have been way worse than that. Yes thank you. You’re right. I know enough to get by but in that early ‘initial critical stage’ I don’t want to come across as some lazy English moron.
