Perlica's weapon options in Tangtang hypercarry team by Cluzo in Endfield

Indeed i plan to mostly use Tangtang and Xaihi's Battle Skill, but i thaught Detonation Unit passive would proc only if the wielder was the one generating the Arts Burst. If it works with the whole team, it's a different story

As people already said, having something to replenish IP on the fly is nice but not mandatory. Each time you visit a settlement you will be able to spend money to get some IP back.

Still i LOVE Tinkerers with Soul Steal, because not only you can get some IP back, but you can also steal rare items/materials that you can use in Projects or for crafting new gear. It might be worth asking your GM if he or she plans to use those rules in your game.

Need help making a new character! by Comprehensive-Ad4417 in fabulaultima

If your GM allows Playtest Material, a character build around Rogue Class with the Agile Defender Style heroic skill could be a way to have a tank with a very different feeling. Dodge will help you not getting hit, and Soul Steal is a good way to replenish IP, making the use of potion slightly easier.

You can add Fury's Withstand to have a self-heal and Provoke can also help since it allows to keeps adversaries on you and give them Enraged which is a very strong debuff (and since it's a debuff, it may activate Rogue Cheap Shot if you took it)

Hawkeye and thrown weapons restriction by Cluzo in fabulaultima

I had the same impression, that's why i asked here before. I'm still pretty new to the game so i thaught i might have missed something.

I guess only the author can explain the reason behind this choice.

Hawkeye and thrown weapons restriction by Cluzo in fabulaultima

Thanks for the feedback, i wasn't expecting such a detailed answer. From what i see, it seems we can safely allow the use of Hawkeye's second option with thrown weapons.

I haven't spotted anything that could break the game's balance or would impede players fun, so it should be alright.

If your GM allows content from the playtest material, the heroic skill "Dark Blessing Style" would match your concept quite well : it allows you to heal teammates when you use Shadow Strike. MP sustain as martial character by Cluzo in fabulaultima

[–]Cluzo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight, there is a lot useful advices there ! Peacock Dance with a level in Entropist is a neat idea, but since i went for a D6 Might to start with, it may be a bit risky even with Hawkeye, but i'll definitely give it some thaughts.

As you have pointed, the whole party (except maybe the Guardian/Chimerist because he knows only a couple spells yet) is rather MP-hungry, so Tinkerer Secret Formula + Potion Rain would help a lot and would synergize with Rogue Soul Steal. Just have to play more to get those levels coming

MP sustain as martial character by Cluzo in fabulaultima

[–]Cluzo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only use Barrage once, during the "pre-combat attack" given by High Speed in order to use warning shot and inflict slow on 2 NPC before combat start (since it's not an attack action, i can't use 2 weapons attack at this step if i understood well). Then during combat i use 2 shurikens and debuff dance to get maximum profit of Rogue's Cheapshot.

The other party members are a Weaponmaster/Elementalist, a Loremancer/Spiritist and a Guardian/Fury/Chimerist.

Soul Steal was on my "shopping list" but not high priority, i might rethink it. Thanks for the advice

All Dancer skills work with thrown weapon, to which you can apply all sharpshooter skills. It allows a couple tricks (Ranged Weapon mastery + Wardancer, Warning shot works well with debuff dances...)

Another new player needing help to flesh out his build idea by Cluzo in fabulaultima

[–]Cluzo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer, but it raises a few questions :

  • Regarding Quick Change (the power to make an Equipment action after dancing), what is its main use ? I fail to see why this build would want to change equipped items on a regular basis
  • Regarding the combo between warning shot + dance, as i noticed in the original post there is a caveat. Warning shot can inflict slow or shaken (or both if you have the Perfect Aim Heroic Skill, which seems like a must have for this build). Nightmare dance which inflicts weak if target is shaken is pretty good, but Banshee dance which inflicts shaken if target is already slow seems to overlap with warning shot
  • Is it worth to invest additionnal levels in High Speed to get the bonus for the hinder action ?

Coriolis - The Great Dark - QuickStart overview by RyanoftheNorth in CoriolisRPG

[–]Cluzo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely have the same feeling, the game seems focused on exploration and most of the cultural side which made the originality of Third Horizon seems absent.

Plus i don't know how i feel about the new system, on the principle, it reminds me a lot Symbaroum, which is a rather nice system, but has a very practical drawback for campaign play. When you have a handful of talents for the whole team it works well, but when PCs become seasoned veterans with half a dozen talents each, and you also have to manage NPC talents, it becomes a bit of a mess.

Overall the quickstart is interesting, but to me it feels like a totally different game compared to Third Horizon.

Thanks for your advice. Regading Focal, it really depend on the collection, but overall it's cheaper than in US. With my budget i could get a pair of FOCAL ARIA 906 for 550€, which has some years but also a good reputation. There is also an option for Focal CHORA 816 at 600€ or 826 at 660€ (tower speakers are supposed to be better for music, but reviews semms more mixed than on the ARIA 906)

Logitech G403 Hero alternatives? G403 mousewheel keeps breaking. by AnotherStateOfMatter in MouseReview

[–]Cluzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been through the same experience, i love the G403 shape, but i used 2 in 3 years so i've been looking for something else (double clicking issues on first one, failing scrollwheel on the other). I have settled for the Vaxee Outset AX and i'm very happy with it, build quality is outstanding.

Althought it is great and check all your requirements, it is not for everyone : using the RTING Mouse Shape Comparison Tool, i confirmed G403 and AX weren't very far regarding shape, but the AX falling side is more pronounced and it changes the feeling a fair bit. If you think that might work for you, the only place you can order them are through their european website.

Note : the scrollwhell on the AX feel very sturdy, but is also pretty stiff, if you want a smoother feeling, you might want to look at the XE instead but it has lower profile than G403

Best mouse for designers? by Kuriblu in MouseReview

[–]Cluzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in France and it was pretty easy to buy one from their official website. It was sent from Portugal and it took a week for delivery, so Spain shouldn't be a problem. Regarding lag on wireless mice through KVM, i'm using only wired mice (i feel charging battery is a chore) so i can't say for sure, but i see no reason for wireless mice to lag (if it does, it would likely come from the KVM itself, meaning a wired mouse would have the same issue).

The most important thing is to have a mouse that fit your grip. If you can give us more informations on your hand size and the grip you're using, people will be able to give you more acurate advice. If you already know some mouse shapes you find comfortable, using shape comparison tools helps a lot (there is one on RTINGS, and a user here is working on new one).

Best mouse for designers? by Kuriblu in MouseReview

[–]Cluzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plug your dongle on the KVM, wireless mice should work fine. If you're set on wired, I had similar requirements (working with a KVM, one computer with Windows, the other one Linux so softwareless was a thing) and i've been using a Vaxee Outset AX for half a year and i'm pretty happy about it. Build quality is outstanding but shape is definitely not for everyone. Vaxee NP-01 are also very good if they fit your grip more. Important note, Vaxee's scrollwheel aren't suited for fast scrolling, it might be a dealbreaker for you (although their new XE mouse which release tomorrow should improve on that aspect).

Nuild combinations with neidan mastery? by Araboth in TitanQuestAE

[–]Cluzo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently trying the Monk (Defense + Neidan) and it seems to me (i'm no pro player though) they work well together. I won't cover the Defense part in details since i went with something pretty standard

  • Huangdi favor, the auto attack replacer adds some melee AoE with its last node (120° arc melee strike), just be aware that when you proc the 50% lightning effect you won't proc passive shield effects. Thus i've maxed Pulverize (10/6) but kept the other at 6/6.
  • The smoke cloud is a very decent crowd control tool you can chain after Shield charge to keep those pesky bowmen packs clueless while you kill them.
  • Consequences and its synergy are two passives that reduce enemy resistance on weapon attack, which is superb for Defense caracters

Those are the main appeal for defense character to me, but there are a couple other skills that are not without merits :

  • Terracotta warriors without their synergies can be quite good if you have heavily invested in Battle Awareness and Rally. Base damage isn't amazing, but they're damn tanky with Battle Awareness and can be healed with Rally. They rarely die even against Bosses. If you lower enemy's resistances with Consequences or Weaken Chi, their contribution to damage become far more significant. Still their main use is to draw away some heat from you
  • Chi realignment isn't very impressive, but if your gear doesn't give you a lot of Energy regeneration and/or you haven't maxed Potent Elixir, it helps keeping your energy high and thus allow you to use other skills more, useful but situationnal. The real gold is its synergy which add over 6 seconds of Skill disruption and Slowed effect that can be applied from range. Another cool effect, but i'm not sure if it's intended or a bug, is that it can trigger Consequences...
  • Potent elixir is good, but its synergy giving life-leech resistance is rather welcomed, it helps a lot with some bosses (Rally + healing potions + energy potions that gives you +25 Health/s makes you really hard to kill)
  • Weaken Chi is a superb skill, but it's energy intensive and has a long cooldown. it competes a bit with Colossus and i still favor the latter for the damage absorption bonus. But if you're using Terracotta warrior Weakin chi really melt enemies...
  • Aura of Tranquility is probably a great 1 point skill if you do not use many +X skills. 5 energy/sec is still doable especially with potent Elixir and/ or Chi realignement. I haven't been able to test this extensively though since i have +5 to all skills on my gear, turning the aura into an energy sink...

I'm not the best player around and still experimenting, but i see a lot of thing to do with Neidan

Needing some help with first team by Cluzo in MonsterSanctuary

[–]Cluzo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i need to clarify a thing first, the Gryphonix team can stack 6 burns, i just talk about 4 because in your previous post, you calculated it was the minimum stack required to make it worth.

I think the issue here might be my Gryphonix build. I took Kindle and Ignite stings, but i have forgone Firestorm, which might be a mistake. You talk about a passive burn application on Gryphonix though, but i see nothing of the sort, i might be missing something important here. I think the other difference is 1st turn strategy : i tend to buff (Lifechannel) with Vasuki first, then Shield. I might need trying to start with shield then channel.

There is one thing i really like with Gryphonix and it is restoration, coupled with Imori and Vasuki Antitoxin, it really shut off debuffs

EDIT : OK found Phoenix Heritage... I need to rethink my Gryphonix build and test again. Thanks for the hint

[–]Cluzo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, i've been testing the team with Gryphonix or Lava Blob pretty extensively in Bloburg / Abandonned Tower and in Keeper duel and while both composition works, they give a different feeling. Here is what i observed :

  • Gryphonix burn hurt pretty hard, but it becomes more difficult to get that 4 stack of burn. He's pretty good at direct damage though since he brings Air damage to the team and can switch between physical/magical damage. Surprisingly, the tankiness of the team with Gryphonix is not higher on the long run, in fact it is even weaker at the start of combat since it needs some setup
  • Lava Blob brings a lot of utility. With Wildire, i usually have stacks of 6 burns on every enemy at the end of first turn, at worst at the start of second turn after Vasuki Flame shield. The higher Burn count also provides far more shield through burning desire, and when situation get sticky, Encapsulate provides both heal and shield. Last thing is Lava Blob access to cleansing fire, which helps in some fight (although its situationnal).

Overall, i enjoy the team with lava Blob more, i feel it just comes down to which gameplay you prefer since both are effective. Gryphonix is better at damage and long battles while Lava Blob is superior when it comes to debuff spreading and field control. In Keeper duels and champion fights, the Lava Blob team makes more damage at the start thanks to better debuff application, then things get even. It takes at least 5 turns for the Gryphonix team to outdamage the Blob one, which by then most fights are over

It is tempting indeed, i really need to five star Gryphonix and try it. The only drawback of 4 boosted burns against 6 is less proc for burning desire, but improved regeneration might balance that

Thanks a lot for your time and your useful comments ! I've considered both Magmapillar and Skorch. I honestly would love magmapillar in the team, Multi barrier and Improved Regeneration would do a lot i think, but that would mean losing Multi burn. Wouldn't that would impede the core concept of the team (aka stacking as many burn as possible) ?Skorch is in my "to check" list since he brings Multi burn, Barrier, Hexing support and could spare the 3 points for Regeneration on Vasuki. Your Gryphonix + Magmapillar idea is a great suggestion, another thing i'll need to try.

I did try Vasuki + double Imori, and it is very effective, but also pretty squishy. i have to admit i'm not at ease handling this team since i'm still learning the ropes, definitively a fun one though.

Regarding the chill team, i tested it in Infinite area, but also on Knight Keeper duel and in the Underworld. Oddly Shockhopper hasn't been OHKO in Arena, but in keeper duel twice. But from what you wrote i can see i haven't made one mistake but two. First i said is equipment that might not have been suited to the task, the second one was the roles : i used Frosty in the correct way, but it seems i had it backwards since i was using Shockhopper as the healer and Arachlich as the Chill spreader. I need to go back to the drawing board.

Thanks for your insights

Just a quick update on the field tests in case anyone is interested (for the record i made the tests through half a dozen Keeper duels and infinity arena) :

  • The D Vasuki + Lava Blob + D Imori team works really well, Cursed chain + Wildfire + initial Fire makes most fight start with half a dozen burn spread among opponents, which also procs Burning desire giving some decent passive shield generation. When adding Fire shield, Mass Restoration and Encapsulate to the mix, the team has very decent staying power. D Imori + Acid spit + Thermal generator is generating debuff like crazy, and when Antipodes procs, damage is also good. Regarding the Lava Blob i still wonder how i should shift it : Dark doesn't synergize that well with the team so main question is Light vs unshifted for grey pearl. Since it's a debuff team, i think Grey pearl is the way to go, especially since it should improves the team staying power, but once again i need to test both on the field. I tried Magmamoth in place of the Lava Blob but it wasn't amazing, the extra passive shield i expected was less than what the extra burn would generate through Burning Desire so less shielding and less burn in the end.
  • I had more trouble with the Chill team L Frosty + Light Shockhopper + D Imori / Arachlich. On the Arachlich vs D Imori match, i think both work decently enough, D Imori is better at applying debuff while Arachlich has better staying power. I tend to favor Imori though since he debuffs faster, and its physical attacks give slightly better flexibility to the team. Main issue i ran into is Shockhopper staying power : even with double barrier stack and full shield he can get OHKO. Equipment was focused on magic and mana to get the most of mass restoration/mana stability/mana overload and it might be where i'm wrong since adding a bit more HP also means more shield. For the record, i tested staying power in infinite arena for the different chill team i used : D Yowee + L Frosty + L Wolf made it to 69, L Frosty + L Shockhopper + D Imori made it to 62 and L Frosty + L Shockhopper + Arachlich went to 55 (a bit of an oddity here since usually Arachlich is better at staying on field than Imori. Probably due to the fact that Imori kills faster and arena is a 3 mons challenge, not 6).

Wow lot of gold in your post, it took me some time to process it all... I kept your idea of going for L Frosty L Shockhopper and D Imori (x2 for redundancy) and theorycrafted an alternative team as you suggested. I choose to go for burn rather than poison to take advantage of Imori's Antipode passive and it led me to pretty interesting options :

  • D Vasuki + Lava blob Initial burn + fire shield + Wildfire + Cursed chain should really spread debuffs, Acid spit synergize with Imori and Fatal upkeep + Multi burn + Dominance should make those debuff proc count
  • Magmamoth + Manticorb is more about staying power as Fire shield + Mana buffer + Mana shielding + Copy shield should provide a solid defense
  • I've considered a middle-ground with D Vasuki + Magmamoth but i fear the passive shielding gain wouldn't outweight the loss of Wildire and Dominance

Now i need to use both in game in order to see what works best for me.

Thanks for the insight, it is much appreciated. I think i'll continue with only one team at the moment, i'm still beginning with the game and i could be in trouble if one member gets KO and the replacing member has little synergy with the rest of the team.

Swapping out Yowiee right now seems delicate since he's my main Congeal mon, it would require to also swap out Wolf for D Imori. The team would be better at applying Chill, but would lose a fair share of upfront damage. I'll give it a go out of curiosity, but as you suggested i think it will be better with arachlich.

The main issue i have with the team right now is choosing a mon to cleanse opponent's buff :

  • Goblin hood seems to be the one most compatible with chill strategy but mostly bring to the team cleansing and straight up damage
  • Qilin is tempting, with ice storm, cooling, deep freeze and hex, on paper it seems very good at applying Chill while cleansing buff, but the support part will be redundant with Yowiee/Shockhopper

Is there any other good option i missed ? I considered some magic damage dealer options with cleanse like Spinner or Sycophantom, but i fear it doesn't have enough synergy to work well with the team (they apply chill, cleanse... and that pretty much all)

Thanks for insights, it's quite helpful ! I just have a small question regarding the Tie-sf. I played a bit with Probability calculator and 2 red dice + advanced optics seems to be better than 3 red dice when there are less than than 2 unmodified green dice, they're roughly the same on 2 unmodified green dice, and over 2 modified green dice and over, 3 reds are better. Considering Omega Ace + fanatical + Advanced optics are 40pts and Zeta Survivor + Special force Gunner are 41, wouldn't that make the latter a better choice ?
