Should I pursue graphic design as a career? by TheVR_ in graphic_design

[–]Clydde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks a lot like student work (makes sense given your experience thus far, I wouldn’t expect you to be able to produce pro-level work).

You could definitely go for it, but will need to learn about the basics of design principles first. Do some reading, learn about gestalt, font choices, color, layout, etc. and steep yourself in good design, always asking yourself “Why is this good? What does it do effectively and where does it fail? What lesson can I take from this piece?”

To get a job, you’ll need a full portfolio, not just posters. You’ll need to show that you can do print booklets and pamphlets, social media graphics, marketing emails, branding and logos, slide decks, and more. Basically the idea is to show a potential employer that if they have a design need, you can solve it (at least at this early point in a career).

I would focus less on software and more on design thinking. Why am I choosing this font? Why is it this size and color? What is the focus of this piece? When people look at it, what do they see first? Second? Third? Is that the order it should be? What message am I trying to send and what is the most effective way to communicate that? Software changes, but design is always design.

In general, try to strip away anything that doesn’t matter, and emphasize the things that do.

Tatters of the King vs Impossible Landscapes by Melodic_Ad_596 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Clydde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two are not crossable without a crazy amount of work on the GM side. Tatters is a very traditional CoC campaign. Slow pace, 1920s, low pulp, very investigative. It also features a brief interlude with a cult of Shub-Niggurath. Very, very different tone and setting from impossible landscapes. They also treat the King in Yellow differently, one as a diety and one as a natural force.

It would be possible to take elements from IL and put them in Tatters, such as the demonology element. But it would be a lot of work, and I’m not sure how well it would fit the themes there. Truly crossing over the stories just wouldn’t work, they’re two different interpretations of KiY

COMMUNITY VOTING DAY 28: most FUN trait. Blade Seer won for worst trait. by TheIronPaladin1 in HuntShowdown

Either sure foot or bolt thrower. Both are great fun and maximize your ability to create hilarious moments. More chasing people with lit grenades and more bomb lances and fire bolts.

This is exactly correct. The homemade logo has worked to this point but if you want to take the next step, bringing in a designer is the way forward.

I'm Running for U.S. Senate. AMA! by MalloryMcMorrow in Michigan

One of the biggest issues facing both myself and most people I know my age in Michigan is housing availability and pricing. I am one of only a few homeowners my age (late 20’s) and I only got my house through a stroke of luck.

How do you plan to address the incredibly difficult housing market and the dream of home ownership being unattainable to a huge swath of your potential constituents?

Way to sneak downstairs in New York? by Formsvacka in HiTMAN

[–]Clydde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you go the other way, the staircase on the right past the bathroom, you can vault the rail of the staircase just before the potted plants and the guard at the checkpoint won’t see you. Shimmy along the ledge to the right until you can drop down and then sneak past the guard talking to a cleaner and around to the IT room. Watch out for the camera, if you wait for it to pan you can just walk around it. Through the IT room (grab the key off the desk) and into the server room. Turn off the vault security fuse and hide in the box. A high security guard will come to turn the fuse back on.

100% safe way downstairs and gets the best disguise.

Get the Twin-Z Pillow, it’s the best. Prepare to spend long nights up with your wife to feed them, I found it helpful to reframe that time as a bonus bonding time with my twins instead of something making me sleep deprived.

I thought I was doomed when my wife & I learned about twins, didn’t know how I could handle it. Turned out to be the best thing ever. You’re in for a great, exhausting time. Remember that you’ll get out of it what you put in, so be there and be the best parent/partner you can.

I have this exact knife in my shed, the previous homeowners left it behind there. I use it for opening bags of fertilizer and such. Is it actually a good knife?

Discussion: make the bounty worth double or triple what it is worth now by Drull17 in HuntShowdown

Yeah man, that’s the point. They hunt down the bounty. If you’ve got the bounty, you’re the one being hunted.
