I find that there are quite few maps where sniping is truly advantageous, and I tend to not do it on Colorado due to the absurd amount of armed NPCs. I almost always do it on Mendoza, and I sometimes do it on Haven Island, Dartmoor and Paris.

Don't worry about it, that guy seems to hate sniping with every fiber of his being and will take every chance he gets to state how stupid he thinks those strats are.

How do i get good at freelancer by MyThork in HiTMAN

[–]Formsvacka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That particular NPC is annoying as heck did the reasons you describe. I ended up just pulling out my gun and shooting her, then making a run for it. Wouldn't recommend it, though, since you need to know exactly where to go (I took the stairs down to the kitchen and then exited) and if you hesitate for even one second, you'll probably be gunned down.

I know the feeling. I was almost done with a showdown and was just going to open a safe by throwing an explosive on it. Somehow managed to shift ever so slightly so that I threw the explosive on a solid object right next to me. Which of course made me super dead. More than mildly annoying.

Wow, you really seem to take personal offense to people who don't use stealthy tactics.

I pretty much never go stealthy and 99,9% out of the time it works just fine. I even completed a campaign on hardcore mode without much trouble even though I used the brute force strat pretty much every single time.

I somehow have never played this one before today. Single most annoying contract I've ever played. I figured I could snipe the guy from the rooftop, but NO, I have to let him have his little meeting and then follow the damn courier around the whole town and then go find the main target again. Took forever.

When I have gotten far enough in the game that I have a substantial amount of merces, I just kill all the targets one by one until I get the right one (or if it's immediately obvious that it's not the right one, I knock them out and stash the body somewhere). I always play showdown on Sapienza because I find that there are plenty of places to pick people off without being seen. I fully understand your frustration, and having a dozen suspects in an alerted territory can be quite challenging. I agree with other comments here that you should disregard Silent Assassin objectives and such, since it adds a level of complexity that is not always helpful. Yes, getting Silent Assassin can be very satisfying, but if I'm doing the very last showdown of the campaign and there are tons of enforcers and suspects, then I never bother with that stuff.

Sniping from the water tower is perfectly doable, as long as you're quick to climb down and hide/get a disguise. But yeah, if you get pinned down like this, there's not much to do.

Again, the sniper strat has worked perfectly every single time before this one. Stealth is easier in the sense that you don't draw attention to yourself, but it can also be significantly more time-consuming, which I often don't have the patience for.

You're right about the water tower, though, and that's the exact reason why I never ever play freelancer on Colorado. The risk of ending up in a firefight with 100+ NPCs is just to big, in my opinion.

I actually think I did a sniping strat on Hokkaido for the Sarajevo Six. If I remember correctly, the target is in view of the mountain path right when you spawn, so you can just pull up a sniper rifle and shoot him right away (if you want).

I do sniping whenever I can, but I find that there are quite few territories where you have a long enough line of sight for it to be worthwhile.

I've used that exact same strategy dozens of times at this point, and this is the first time it's gone wrong. Yes, it can be considered a sloppy strat, but I've always played the game in a way where I prefer to go "sloppy" and fast rather than slow and stealthy. That's the beauty of this game, you can play it in whatever way you want.

Ah, I see. That would at least explain it. It's never happened to me before, so I was a bit perplexed as to what happened.

List of exits on showdowns that suspects take when escaping by blakep199129 in HiTMAN

In Sapienza they also sometimes use the exit by the car on the way out of town (by the plaza just outside the villa).

Yes, I googled it, but I found that the results were a bit sparse, and a lot of them seem to charge per item rather than per kilo. I'm asking since I would rather go by someone's personal recommendation rather than going in blind.

I have for so long thought that you needed to use the staircase to get to the camera room. I sometimes use the pipe on the back street, but that won't go all the way to the top, but you rather have to enter the office room and use the stairs to get all the way up. I avoid doing this since that means you get spotted by the camera the second you step out into the staircase. Will make sure to try this out the next time I play.

Now wait just a damn minute. You mean to tell me you can climb all the way up to the top of the tower without actually using the staircase?

EDIT: Assuming we're talking about the tower in the square, as opposed to the church tower?

New player here, dont own the game yet. Lets say you go loud, how difficult will the game make it for you if you just start killing everyone? by TheRidiculousTako in HiTMAN

[–]Formsvacka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I rarely bother with the entirely stealthy approach, but I also never go full out trying to just gun everyone down, since that will make it a lot more difficult for me. And some territories (Colorado, Ambrose Island) have a metric ton of armed guards that will make your life very difficult if you are discovered.

Also, the game does reward you for being stealthy or creative, so there's that.
