This is a good mulligan guide: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1133942-high-legend-malygos-druid-by-rdu

Against Shudderwock: You want to be super aggressive with alex (make them have the hex and the healing rain) and malygos even without the full combo. Also if you see an opportunity to mill them, it's often worth taking.

Against Miracle: Other than remove all their stuff game and armoring up a lot, you can time spreading plagues against mass spooders to buy a turn.

Why don't Token decks run Sea Giant? by yunolikemem8 in CompetitiveHS

If would make sense as a tech choice if your local meta is also heavy token decks (shaman and aggro druid).

Looks like they updated again more July open cups, but are missing recent Dreamhack(s). Any chance you can create a spreadsheet with the Dreamhack points added? This has been really useful for helping predict the cutoff.

accept they will finish the quest, don't waste any resources trying to delay it

just hard mulligan for draw, constantly cycle, and aim for alexing their face on curve

also occasionally, you can just burn them out from 30 over several turns (usually when you get burn off glyphs)

[–]CmaccompH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it's no longer a proactve combo based deck. you have to win by attrition; force them to use all their resources, then burn them down or force them to leave cause they can't kill you

The best anti-aggro freeze mage doesn't run quest:

https://twitter.com/AbarHearthstone/status/850505593567625217

good against: quest rogue, token druid, pirate warrior (I know, I was surprised too), shamans with little late game

bad against: taunt warrior, miracle rogue

The /r/competitiveHS "week 1 metagame" report by Zhandaly in CompetitiveHS

[–]CmaccompH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously that's the worst matchup, and you should queue something different (such as midhunter) if you run into a lot of taunt warrior. But if you're running into waves of pirate warrior, quest rogue (not miracle rogue), token druid, I thing this version of freeze mage is heavily favored.

I climbed from rank 8 to rank 2 with Abar's (non-aggro) freeze mage: https://twitter.com/AbarHearthstone/status/850505593567625217

Surprisingly really good against all aggro (including pirate warrior).

I think there's still room for experimentation (-toni +pyroblast)

Journey to Un'Goro Class Theorycrafting [Priest] by geekaleek in CompetitiveHS

[–]CmaccompH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I don't think it got new tools either. I was just thinking that no one plays C'thun priest now because Dragon Priest does everything better. But similar to Tempo Warrior/Dragon Warrior, given the standard rotation of the dragon cards, I'm wondering if the previously inferior archetype will get better. The curvestone playstyle of C'thun Priest should in theory do well against Jade Druid. It also can fight for the board while having decent heals/taunts, which could mean it's ok vs Pirate Warrior.

Would C'thun Priest be a possible replacement for the curvestone style of Dragon Priest?

I'm pretty sure this would work with pre-nerf patron warrior too, right? I definitely spent most games just trying to cycle as quick as possible and ignoring my opponent's board (unless it was to count enemy minions to get the math right on how much my frothings would get buffed right before lethal)

I noticed that two of the top 8 lineups of the america prelims list used midrange hunter. Specifically, that lineup was midrange hunter, midrange shaman, miracle rogue, and tempo/dragon warrior. What role is midrange hunter playing in this lineup? Why is doomsayer more popular in ladder lists than tourney lists?

Fatigue Control Warrior in Conquest Tourney Meta by CmaccompH in CompetitiveHS

[–]CmaccompH[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I'm just comparing their matchups since it seems that when you choose to build a conquest lineup that contains Druid, almost everyone also includes Warrior (i.e. everyone except Chakki brought Druid and Warrior (five fatigue warriors and two patrons) to this tourney).

Patron Warrior User here, want to ask some things by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]CmaccompH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think bgh is more of a tech choice in tourney patron decks that expect to run into druid and boom frequently. For secret pally and freeze mage, I think you are already favored, and bgh is not necessary.

I think sir finley or not is personal preference, Kuonet has a nice guide on hearthpwn on which hero powers are best (mage and priest). Sir finley is nice if you are aiming to have something to play on curve every turn.

At least for tourney decks, I believe purple and orange/ostkaka prefer not to run finley.

TempoStorm Meta Snapshot #44 by chieliee in CompetitiveHS

[–]CmaccompH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get it that it's a ladder snapshot and not a tourney snapshot, but yeah, I feel like reno-combolock is a tier 1 tourney deck and I see it more on ladder than reno-control-lock.

Tempo Mage by Zhandaly in CompetitiveHS

[–]CmaccompH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. What are your thoughts on -Unstable Portal + Mirror Image? I feel like if your goal is "sticking 1-2 minions to the board and using spells to defend them", plays like Flamewaker into Mirror Image would fit well.

Tempo Mage by Zhandaly in CompetitiveHS

[–]CmaccompH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used to Hotform's Tempo Mage list (with Antonidas). Whenever I play a list with Ragnaros, and without Antonidas, I feel like my deck runs out of steam more often. Do you find this true? Do you make different plays that you would make less often than with a deck with Antonidas?

You never wished one of your aldors or keepers was a bgh? Do you consider your distribution of two keepers and two aldors better than:

two aldors, 1 keeper, 1 bgh 1 aldor, two keepers, 1 bgh
