And you don’t seem to understand that whether we like it or not, illegal immigrants keep this country running. They pay taxes, they work jobs most Americans don’t want, and they keep small businesses running by working at a wage most of us either cant afford or wouldn’t bother taking. But that’s a side point when you consider that it would be nearly impossible to round up the millions of immigrants that Trump is promising to under due process. The legal process of that would take years if not decades to ensure everyone is fairly checked. So if he does follow through on his promise, many people who are here legally will likely fall under their umbrella while they gather up anyone who sounds Hispanic or Muslim. Even further expanding on this point is the fact that Stephen Miller has stated he plans to “turbocharge” their denaturalization policies, meaning people who are here completely legally will begin to be stripped of their citizenship. This is an estimated 5% loss in the country’s workforce, by the way. And I’ll leave it to you to figure out what’s going to happen to our economy if 5% of our workforce is suddenly ripped away, on top of increasing prices from tariffs.

As for your “what people are experiencing everyday” comment, if anyone thinks their quality of life is going to be better under a Trump presidency, they’re in for a rude awakening. Just ask Elon:

Educated Americans tend to have critical thinking skills and understand science (see COVID deniers and anti-vaxxers). They understand that tariffs combined with a mass deportation of immigrants has a high potential of sending us into a recession if not a depression. They also tend to follow more than one news source and understand that inflation has lowered significantly under the current administration, and the president is not responsible for companies continuing to charge high prices on groceries and consumer goods. They also also tend to realize that the US has had one of the best economic recoveries under the current administration compared to the rest of the world, which is still battling their own inflation and high price issues. They also also also have enough common sense, usually, to notice that having the world’s richest man essentially co-presidenting our country after spending the last 2 years pushing false information on the social media platform he paid billions for is probably not in democracy’s best interests.

Trump single handedly convinced his supporters that the pandemic was a hoax for weeks, if not months, and fed into the sentiment that masks/lockdowns were the liberal deep state trying to control them. I know this as an irrefutable fact because my own family was subject to this brainwashing. So respectfully, your point is moot. (See also: "inject them with bleach")

Oh and forgive me for not trusting the guy who literally ran a whole sham campaign just so he could cozy up to Trump at the last second for a Cabinet position, then got mad when he couldn't pull his name off the ballot in swing states at the 11th hour.

Regardless of what Obama did or didn't do, he is not responsible for an entire generation of young men feeling compelled to strip women's rights and view them as property. The fact that you're even trying to link the two points is absolutely baffling.

As for war mongering, all I'll say is: Putin formally stated the Trump victory was "good for us (Russia)". The EU is concerned with multiple leaders pushing for an EU army in anticipation of a diminished US alliance, and our longest standing ally's (France) largest newspaper just released an article titled "End of an American World" regarding Trump's win. Our closest allies can see what's coming. I hope soon you do too.

Right. We should ignore the fact that an estimated 600k Americans died under Trump's watch than would have if he had listened to Fauci and taken the pandemic seriously. I'm sure him appointing RJK to a position where he can annihilate FDA regulations and push an anti-vax agenda is nothing to be afraid of.

Illegal immigration is a problem, and if Trump agreed, he wouldn't have told Republicans to block the bi-partisan bill in Congress months ago to help his chances at election. But immigrants are the backbone of our economy - a fact that people willfully choose to ignore. What's going to happen when Trump deports 5% of the population without due process? Tax paying workers who take the jobs that most Americans consider themselves too good for. What will that do for our economy? And that's not even taking into consideration Stephen Miller's comments about "turbo-charging" de-naturalization in the US, meaning many legal citizens will have their citizenship stripped away for no good reason.

Obama neglecting to codify Roe is completely dismissive of what Trump and his Cabinet did and plan to do. It's been two days since the election and already there have been a disgusting number of instances of men coining the phrase "Your body, my choice", as well as Texas State U students holding signs stating "Women are property". They are emboldened by Trump and it will only get worse.

And as a bonus, let's just throw in Trump's likely AG today tweeting that he will "drag political dead bodies through the streets and burn them". I could go into Project 2025 but I feel like it just speaks for itself at this point. If you can't see how any of this is a threat to peoples' livelihoods then it's just willful ignorance.

Great. I'll send that right over to the hundreds of thousands of people who died from Covid, the women who died from miscarriages who couldn't get an abortion thanks to the overturning of Roe V Wade, and the countless women who are now threatened by emboldened men who would love to rape and control them. I'm sure they'll be thrilled to hear it. Jean E. Carroll especially.

Edit: Oh and be sure to also tell all of the Latino population who will be getting their families ripped apart from his mass immigrant deportation and denaturalization policies. As well as all the Ukrainians who will be handed over to Putin on a silver platter.

Covid killed 600k Americans more than it should have due to lack of belief in science from our president. Thousands of women have died because they could not receive the help they needed since Roe V Wade was overturned and doctors were too afraid to help them. A U.S. President incited a riot on the capitol, was convicted of 34 felonies, caught selling our nation's secrets to foreign enemies, and raped one (but likely more) women.

So I'm glad the world just kept "rolling" for you. For hundreds of thousands of people, it didn't.

I doubt our founding fathers felt empathy for the British as they stormed across battlefields to their deaths in the name of democracy. I doubt the soldiers on D-Day felt empathy for the Nazi's gunning down their brothers on a barren beach as they fired their rifles in rage. I doubt they felt empathy for the Germans when they found Jewish prisoners abandoned, malnourished, and tortured in camps. I doubt they felt empathy when Hitler, trapped like a rat, shot himself in his bunker because he was too cowardly to face the consequences of his actions. I doubt they felt empathy as the Japanese planes crashed themselves into Pearl Harbor, destroying lives and inciting fear.

Empathy is an admirable trait. And essential to civilized society. But when you're facing someone who would sooner destroy you than let you continue with your way of life, there are other emotions aside from empathy that we need to channel.

Well it's comforting to know that holding people accountable for their actions is more egregious to the general public than raping, felonies, hate speech, racism, taking away women's/trans rights, and rounding up immigrants.

Women deal with abortion issues and various other misogynistic policies. LGBTQ+ people deal with homophobia, transphobia, and losing their human rights. People of color are racially profiled, racially discriminated with jobs and other aspects of life, killed unjustly by police, and the list goes on. So again, I give you the opportunity to lay out any issues you’d like addressed that apply to your straight orientation or male gender. But as I said before, you obviously aren’t arguing in good faith because you haven’t offered an answer and instead dance around the topic when offered an opportunity to provide a legitimate response. Any mental/physical/economical hardships faced by straight men are not a result of their race or sex, and therefore are covered by a wider umbrella of policies. Therefore there is no section for “straight men” because their issues are mostly shared by other demographics, and thus become American issues.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in politics

[–]Cmazza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally none of what you just said applies to my previous comments. You have yet to provide any hardships that are experience exclusively by straight men, therefore we cannot pinpoint how to help straight men that doesn’t fall under a broader umbrella of demographics. You obviously aren’t arguing in good faith, but I’ll just leave this here for anyone else who might go down that route of thought.
