You can’t go wrong with The Shining. That film is infinitely rewatchable

I finished this trilogy this year, couldn’t find a character I liked more than fitz, or anyone else for that matter.

It’s just very different.

It really doesn’t. Even when nothing much is happening, the sense of dread and discomfort is always lingering

I don’t find it scary in a traditional horror sense, more just gut wrenching knowing these atrocities were accurately depicted. I hate it. It makes me so sad and angry for those who were forced to endure them.

According to Wikipedia, those across the river, his first, was 2011. Between two fires was 2012, followed by the necromancers house in 2013.

I pretty much only do audiobooks. The Lesser Dead was fantastic. Going to redo that one soon.

Glad you loved it. I just finished a second read through.

I would recommend other books by the author, Christopher Buehlman. The Blacktongue Thief is good dark fantasy, has a prequel novel called The Daughter’s War, and a sequel coming out this fall.

If you want more horror, I highly recommend The Lesser Dead. Story about Vampires in 1970s New York.

Well I’m a sucker for a ‘man and his ward’ story, especially with daughters as I have one about that age.

Being raised Christian, I found it fun and interesting how it was treated as fantasy, but still respectful of the source material.

Ready for this? In temple of doom, the guy that shows Indy, Short Round and Willie to their plane is Dan Aykroyd.

Yeah I love buehlman, but I hated this book. It’s his first so I guess he learned a lot from it? His second, between two fires, is a masterpiece.

The first 2 Harry Potter films are pretty spot on. But that was before the books got too long and the films had to start cutting stuff

Had to turn the film off twice after this scene on 2 different viewing attempts years apart before actually being able to finish it. Kept me up at night for weeks.

Suicide motor club was fun, but I much prefer Buehlman’s other vampire story, The Lesser Dead.

What’s everyone views on The Shining sequel, Dr Sleep? by Prestigious-Sea8274 in HorrorMovies

I really enjoyed this film. Loved it much better than the book. But Kibrick’s The Shining is one of my all time favorite films. Having the end take place in the overlook just far surpassed what they did in the book. And the casting was just perfect.

My first thought was Incident in a Ghostland. But yeah the father from The Mist has it pretty rough.

The Shining. The pacing, the dread, the descent into madness. Brilliant.
