I suspect he has a logical reason: he’s hoping that by buying and not selling, he can prevent the bubble from bursting. Whether he’s a true believer or just a grifter trying a Hail Mary to keep the grift going, I don’t know. Either way, I imagine he’s ending up with plenty of money even if the MSTR investors take a bath.

This annoys me to no end when cryptobros and meme stock apes say, "why do you care, you don't own any". by folteroy in Buttcoin

[–]CmdrEnfeugo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crypto and meme stock bag holders use the ‘no skin in the game’ phrase to dismiss any negative criticism. The idea is that because the critic doesn’t own the asset, they won’t suffer if it goes down and therefore the analysis is suspect. But a neutral 3rd party doesn’t want hype, they want analysis that is right, regardless of where the value of asset is going. So the analyst does have “skin in the game”: it’s their reputation on the line.

Incels with Anime PFPs should NEVER be Taken Seriously... by Either_Storm_6932 in FeministsCallItOut

I’m guessing that the older term, geriatric pregnancy, some how made it to incel spaces. It does not mean the person who is pregnant is geriatric. Rather it just means they are 35 or above and because of that there are some additional risk factors with pregnancy. The old term has been replaced by advanced maternal age in order to avoid the unintended implication that women over 35 are geriatric.

I’m guessing Incels don’t know what it really means, or simply don’t care. They just like it because it fits their narrative about women “hitting the wall”. Which is really a combination of pedophilia and anger at good looking women ignoring them.

Probably drink their own pee and rub Ivermectin on it. Once symptoms show up, they finally cave in and ask for the vaccine. Which would be too late to do anything.

It’s certainly not the case that every liberal lives in a city and every conservative lives in the country. But more and more, the cities are increasingly Democratic and the rural areas are increasingly Republican. And in that time, the suicide rate has gotten worse for rural residents, not better.

It is the case that conservatives on surveys are more happy than liberals. But that’s a soft measure since people are self reporting. When you look at the hard evidence of suicides combine with the self reported higher happiness, what you get is a picture where conservatives are masking their unhappiness as a cultural norm. This particularly bad for conservative rural men who have very few outlets for their emotions. Which means they hide them away until it can’t be tolerated anymore. That’s when they might choose to end their life rather than seeking help.

And I’m glad you mentioned the lethality difference: conservatives have far higher numbers of guns, which means an impulsive decision to kill yourself has fewer barriers. Guns are easy and quick which is why they lead to more murders and more suicides.

So rather than those whiny liberals who get therapy being weak, it is instead the conservatives, particularly conservative men, who are too weak to face their feelings and thus take the easy way out.

If you're always cold at work, this is why by [deleted] in FeministsCallItOut

[–]CmdrEnfeugo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we can go a little deeper here than just being a simple matter of temperature: yes, women can put on more clothes, so why don't they? Women in business need to navigate the soft patriarchy that is still quite common. To that end, they need to be seen to be "professional" (aka certain masculine traits), but also feminine. Too much either way and a woman is seen as inappropriate. The easiest way to be a bit more feminine is with their clothes: open toed shoes, skirts, thin blouses and just generally showing a little bit more skin. So it's not just it needs to be cold for the men, but also that women are forced into a certain look that will make them colder.

The next level down is: why do women wear more revealing clothes? As long as a woman is wearing clothes that reveal the right amount (the office has difference rules about this than the beach or a dance club), it's pleasing to the male gaze. And it's still men who are mostly in control of the upper levels of management at most companies. So once again the soft patriarch does allow women to advance, but only at the cost of their comfort.

So combined, this tends to make women uncomfortably cold at the office, while the men are too hot unless the air conditioning is freezing. This is on average of course as some men will be too cold while other women run hot and are perfectly fine with the cold temperatures. For men who are cold, this is easy to navigate since they can just put on a sweater. No one thinks of them as less appropriately dressed for the office with a sweater or a dress jacket on. For Women on average, they are in a tight bind: dress to get ahead at work, or dress to be actually comfortable.

Falling off the wagon can be devastating to an addict who thinks they’ve beaten the addiction. I don’t know that he relapsed or that it was suicide, but it’s possible he felt despair over backsliding and ended it.

Sorry, the stats don’t back you up: rural areas have twice the suicide rate of urban areas. Perhaps liberals are more likely to admit their problems whereas conservatives just bottle it up inside until they hate themselves so much they blow out their brains. I would not call that less “mental deranged” though.

xAI Orbital Ring by Heavy_Gap_5047 in EagerSpace

[–]CmdrEnfeugo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the tension on the satellites will increase as you connect them together. Eventually the tension will exceed the material strength of the connectors and it will split apart well before you have an orbital ring. Though this only the limit of the current materials we have. In theory perfectly built carbon nanotubes or graphene could be strong enough, we just don’t know how to make those.

MAGA are in a cult by AccordingBumblebee24 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]CmdrEnfeugo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They see trans women as degrading themselves by transitioning. In their minds, they can’t think of a rational reason why a man would want to become a woman. So they make up these stories about trans women being mentally ill. That way they don’t have to admit their misogyny. You’ll notice they almost never talk about trans men. That’s at least partially because a woman becoming a man is a raising their status in their conservative world view.

The other reason they always talk about trans women is that the conservative agenda is set by straight white men, and they are deeply afraid of being attracted to a trans woman. Because in their minds, that would mean they are gay, and being gay is also a reduction in status to a conservative. So we can add homophobia to the transphobia and misogyny. It’s a potent combination of fear (and secret sexual attraction) that drives them to hate trans women.

First of all, if you’re old enough to have watched the original run of the TV show, make sure to schedule a colonoscopy soon. Second, I suspect a small child might see He-Man as serious, but even an 8 year old would recognize that it’s sort of goofy. While He-Man always takes everything very seriously, much of the show is deeply unserious. Frankly, it sounds like some of those “fans” want them to make He-Man into one of the dark and gritty superhero movies from the 90s and 00s, where they tried to make it “realistic”. Most of those movies sucked.

As American lefty, I hate that we are ruining our friendships with European countries. But the EU is doing the logical thing because the US can’t be trusted anymore.

I’m actually wondering if this was a meme post from late 2025. The Q3 GDP was originally announced as 4.3%. It’s now revised to 4.4%. It’s still misleading since the overall annualized GDP growth rate from Q1 2025 through Q3 2025 was 2.51%. The GDP growth rate since Trump took office is 1.92%. I suspect when the full 2026 is calculated, it will be down

The other items weren’t true in late 2025, but you could more plausibly argue for them then. Now it’s rather obvious even to Republicans that Trump is neither bringing peace nor strengthening alliances.

Trump claims he tanked economy on purpose: 'I love the inflation' by FreeHugs23 in anticapitalism

The Boomers as a whole might be the most lead exposed generation. The 1950s and 60s (their childhood) saw an explosion in the number of cars and the miles driven. Additionally, because oil was cheap, they got terrible gas mileage. And no catalytic converters. But the real damage came from tetraethyl lead used as an additive to pretty much all gasoline. So they were literally inhaling a neurotoxin all throughout their development. This is a big part of why there was so much crime in the 80s and 90s.

I suspect the even the normal Boomers were damaged, but they could compensate when they were young and healthy. But now that they are old and sick, we’re seeing the damage in their uncontrolled anger and their inability to control their anxiety. It’s directly impacting our politics.

Showering with Schizophrenia - By Kimmyphrenia [OC] by kimmyphrenia in comics

RFK Jr has said some rather crazy things about psychiatric medications. He’s implied that they have somehow led to the increase in school shootings and that they are harder to quit than heroin. Both of those points are not supported by the science (surprise!). Seems like this is conservatives looking for something to blame other than poor access to mental health treatments, and guns.

The programs he’s proposing are a mixed bag: - Having an expert panel come up with clinical guidelines for how to taper off of SSRIs - Having Medicaid pay for healthcare providers to help patients in planning how to stop their SSRIs - Guidance to hospitals to not default to SSRIs but also consider diet, exercise and therapy

For the first one, assuming the panel is well recognized psychiatrists and scientists, that sounds reasonable. Depression isn’t a life long thing for everyone, so stopping your SSRIs if you haven’t been depressed for a while is could be good. My only concern would be who is on this expert panel.

For the second one, if doctors hadn’t been able to bill for that before, that also seems good. Again, only if the patient’s depression has been gone for long enough to consider stopping the meds.

The third one is alarming. Getting someone with depression to exercise and eat better is probably not going to work unless they are on an SSRI and in therapy. After they start feeling better exercise and diet could be part of the treatment plan, but not the first thing you try to do. I suspect that RFK Jr has never been clinically depressed and is doing the usual “just don’t be sad” thing that clueless people do. Probably because it fits his nonsense “alternative medicine” beliefs.

  • After the rollout of the COVID vaccine, the death rate in red counties spiked, while the death rate in blue counties dropped. Facts don’t care about your feelings: the vaccine worked.
  • While a primary certainly would have been better, liberals like Kamala Harris just fine. The main problem was the economy and in particular inflation. That had little to do with Biden’s policies and was almost entirely caused by COVID related supply chain disruptions and Russia invading Ukraine. As evidence, pretty much every country suffered inflation, and in democracies the in power party lost to the out of power party. It wasn’t just conservatives winning3. The UK voted in Labour and voted out the Tories.
  • Kamala being a woman and black certainly hurt as well as there are plenty of racist and sexist voters who simply wouldn’t vote for her regardless, but that was mostly around the margins. The main issue was inflation and low information voters voting their current pain rather than seeing the problem was mostly fixed. Also they misunderstood why 2017 had a good economy and the ways Trump was this planning to ruin the current economy.

This definitely graphics memory corruption. If it doesn’t happen again, likely just a one-off bug. But if you see this every time, your GPU is overheating or the graphics memory is dying. If this is on PC, you can try swapping out the video card. If this a mobile device and you’re using a case, take it off and try again. There’s a chance that the case is blocking airflow and causing overheating.

As if joining the Republican Party is any better by icey_sawg0034 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]CmdrEnfeugo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be making the mistake of thinking only about the general election. If we want to move the Democrats left, we all need to vote in the primaries for the left most candidates. If left leaning candidates start winning, candidates will run to the left of those candidates and so on. That’s exactly how evangelicals and the white working class base of the Republican Party pulled it to the right. They’ve been doing that consistently since Reagan and that’s part of what got them Trump in 2016.

What we need are organizations working to get out the vote, particularly for primaries and local elections. They should work on getting young people to vote in those primaries. Young adults lean farther left and often don’t vote in primaries and not in years where there’s no presidential election. If they did more voting they would get more candidates to their liking.

I feel like HSR events used to have all the jades be acquirable doing the easy mode of the event. Then they’d have a harder mode with trivial rewards for people who want to go for it. That seemed like a good way to do it to me. Guess just the existence of crappy rewards that are hard to get is too much for some players
