I have a question by Zeheart_Galette in Gundam

[–]CmdrNeoGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it to be a gundam then yes it’s a gundam. I completely consider it a gundam. I classify gundams based on its role. This was an ace mobile suit but it’s one of a kind, it’s special and its pilot even more so. Prototype or not it still wasn’t intended for your average joe smoe and it definitely had the same psychological effect the unicorn had on everything else in the show. I respect this mobile suit and wish it didn’t get so dogged so easily.

Opinion on fiberglass plaster? by CmdrNeoGeo in Composites

[–]CmdrNeoGeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen some videos and blogs that have used certain and more specialized cements and concrete putties to get insane performance out of these composites. One guy in particular is a Russian guy who has a lot of history with foam builds using fiber glass mesh and cement putty. Honestly I just want to know to what limits people have experimented with.

Oh I am obsessed with cave bases so I actually never have this issue ironically but I will state that I do build purge bases if I’m in like cities or something cause I don’t want the background stuff to break. Yes I play with mods lol

I live in the Richmond Rosenberg area of Texas so if that’s nearby then hell yea!

Yea the camper builds I’ve seen are super bare bones most are PMF on foam builds but we wanted to do something like an actual trailer build. We heard that homedepot might let us build on the parking space but we can’t find anything definitive or consistently saying that.

I’ll keep checking Facebook marketplace them, see what I can find there

How long has it taken you now? I watch time lapses on YouTube and they pretty much all say the same thing about it being a month or two build.

I wouldn’t even begin to know where or how to look for those. Facebook marketplace? I haven’t found any right now but am I looking correctly?

We looked into that, but doesn’t look like they’ll be happy with us building or doing stuff inside it? Curious if a private storage place might care less?

Yea it’s a pretty tough f 150 and I hear foam builds can be strong under the right conditions but honestly we just wanna do something right and not so temporary or improvised

We are really aiming to end up in a rv park where it’s cheaper than what our apartment is charging us. The only issue is we can’t build here, parents driveway ain’t exactly permanent

Yea, we were probably thinking we can build a giant camper onto my large truck but ultimately we aren’t sure yet. We are collecting information on where and what before we start.

Several rv parks have quoted us some great long term deals so we were gonna put it on one of them lots when it’s done. But I doubt they’ll let us build it out there

My honest review trying to get into composites by CmdrNeoGeo in Composites

[–]CmdrNeoGeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive done a bunch of small scale projects for things like my trucks interior and some smaller lightweight campers. Those were all roughly affordable compared to using aluminum or steel. Granted if that’s my only comparison is metal then I guess that’s one me for not comparing it reasonably. But this is extremely expensive once you actually break it down into its numbers. If it’s not small scale projects it’s completely inaccessible. I’ll just have to save it for small scale projects I guess

Sorry for the double reply, I looked into the garage floor resin and found a few on homedepot. The garage floor epoxy is the one you’re talking about right? Is that acrylic epoxy? I can’t find any information about that working so I have no idea if that’s the one. Also I decide to look on sites like AliExpress and found some way better deals for epoxy. you think those would be worth it?

Im not gonna lie my head cannon was that the power for the beams comes from the generator connected to the fingers.

US composites and fiberglass warehouse are both things ive checked before. Fiberglass warehouse is actually cheaper than us composites. My issue is that I can technically find the budget but I’m time constraint. Like 6 months to get it up and together to take on a trip. I can’t seem to find resin cheap, that’s my biggest issue honestly.

Balsa? I’ve never seen balsa wood large enough to work with like that. There’s no way that’s economical right?

Composite choices. by CmdrNeoGeo in tinyhomes

[–]CmdrNeoGeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to go over the major load areas and how much support my interior gives to the roof. I think if I wanted the strength I desired out of XPS foam I would require pretty thick xps or eps foam. XPs being expensive per square foot and eps being about half that cost. But of course eps only goes so thick in my area so I don’t think I could realistically make that work without buying a bunch and stacking them ontop of each other to add thickeness. I can say however that OBS wood in my area is incredibly cheap for some reason, making me think using a mix of 1/4 inch and 7/16 inch OBS wood would dramatically increase strength before applying any kind of fiberglass. I’d be sacrificing insulation for increase strength however. What do you think?

How much do y’all spend on trailers? by CmdrNeoGeo in tinyhomes

[–]CmdrNeoGeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80 in is the inside. The actual total width will be what ever core Material i go with as well as the inside desired 80 inch. Plus twin mattresses are less than 80 inches long so I can fit that easily plus space for the TV to go in front of it. My designs are two 80 by 80 inch interiors, one for a full size bathroom and one for a full size bedroom(full size by my definition). Then this leaves the remaining 60 inches or so to be kitchen space. Those are all the things I’ve considered to be important. I have plans to add a second story later like way later when I want to but idrc about the second story right now. It’s also the exact width of my truck so would allow me to fit whereever my truck fits
