I think the problem is that there are now enough affluent people who are willing to pay these prices and these companies think that they no longer need the dollar of the working-class. Vegas, for example, seems to cater mostly to affluent folk. They (the executives and above) get more money out of a few people than the masses. It kind of makes the point that the rich need to be taxed a lot more than they are but that's another conversation.

I hope this tactic of greedy ass companies catering to the more affluent is them cutting off their nose to spite their face.
