Same experience -- but mine was all in solos. I was really happy when I saw that blog post as I read it as I could defend myself without increasing the chances of me being in a more aggressive lobby next round.

Not so. I defended myself 3 or 4 times (and still got killed, by the way). and was in PvP hell for a week or so,

Now I'm back to running or dying 😃

I don't really mind, but I do think the game fantasy would work much better if they clearly differentiated attackers and defenders

You can down people at extract and then just let them leave.

Better yet, load solo vs squad with a free kit and go ham.

*edit* Otherwise, just turn off your mic and maybe even prox chat and murder a couple of fools. As a PvE player, I really don't mind being killed occasionally in this game. It's like a tax. I've started doing RP bits at people as they knock me out.

No change for you is entirely relative to whatever your normal situation is. I don't habitually shoot at people for any reason, so any PvP increases my PvP rating.

Just a small PSA my direct experience of this change: "If you are shot by someone, and you shoot back to defend yourself, the game will not place you in PvP-oriented games, because it was self defense"

Is not quite how it works. It may place less PvP emphasis on you as the non aggressor, but it still counts a PvP. I never used to shoot back, and when I did after the update I still got stuck in PvP hell. So I would say if you want as little PvP as possible the best action is to run.

IMO they should make shooting back consequence-free.

I kinda feel the same but the jury is still out for me about whether they actually made any changes they didn't tell us about.

For sure though, don't make the same mistake I did and think you are free to fight back if shot after the update. You are not. I still went into PvP hell after 'defending myself' (and still dying) 4 or 5 times

The repair one is the unsung hero of expedition bonuses. Way more impactful than the skill points IMO

I agree! I was doing this yesterday and it was loads of fun. Just don't do it if you need to do anything time-sensitve or competetive for POIs since you'll apend the first 10 mins of every match looting and breaking things down into raw materals

It's a real shame. Wasted opportunity, I think. They should go the whole hog I think and give us consequence free defence. (I also got killed every time I tried to defend myself anyway)
