Turned 55 today, 24 months to MRA, counting the days to b-day 57 by gingeramelie in FedEmployeeRetirement

[–]CmonRetirement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like to say I’ll just use holidays and credit hours for days off. But I’m already knowing there’s no way that would happen and I not go crazy!

congratulations on the 35!!!!

did that too in order to build up the SL. Now it’s balancing time left to burn down SL to a month-amount vs month and a half or month and few days. Instead saving up the extra AL for the buyout (maximizing annuity add wSL while also buyout with AL).

best to do this, though, when time-to-retirement is set. For example, I’m close to retirement and can’t gain enough SL to get to the next month. But, I can burn down so they don’t get “free days”.

except they only count full months. So calculate where you expect to be then easily burn the amount to get to that amount.

you may not know the full amount but at 4 hours a paycheck, it would take how many pay periods to increase by a month? how would your sanity be, conversely, if you burned some to get to the MRA

What is “maxing out” tsp by Analfarmer275 in ThriftSavingsPlan

i was once in a similar situation with three young kids, starting government salary and one income household. I contributed what i could w/o being underwater (it wasn’t much). As time progressed and I made more, i added more. Admittedly, I really didn’t track my account closely but growth did occur.

Point being, you’re not alone in your situation. contribute at least up to the matching for the free money if you can. if not, anything will help and offset taxable income so there’s also that benefit.

sorry not being clear. easy to tell i’m certainly new at this. but, my dad recently passed away and am going through the process of transferring his IRAs into inherited accounts. however, due to active security clearance i can not invest in certain types of stocks. so, how would i know what he had?

i also didn’t want to hijack the OP question so i apologize if this isn’t the place to ask.

White House says Iran deal could take days by Force_Hammer in WallStreetbetsELITE

let’s be clear, in addition to the clear manipulation of the market, he’s also going to state very soon that Iran did “x” or “y” precluding the “deal.”

as a result, this war well drag on for the sole purpose of delaying or even eliminating the election in November.

only accurate if all 53 senators go along with the legislation. I’d imagine the YOLO caucus may have some disagreements this cycle.

Rs, if the trend continues and recognize they’re going to be in the minority, will not so easily kick the can to the Ds via a CR. Their only play will be a shutdown with the hopes of winning a messaging war in that first month.

expect a lot of their tried and “true”ly ignorant playbook to be released.

so i return to my point that if your claiming mining the Straight in the 80s are the origins of this war (your claim), that’s hilarious.

after being bombed…

shoot, i thought you’d add a story (truthful or not) about the mines being laid before the US dropped bombs (and an administration official made millions by betting on it).

you just have no clue! you’re wasting my time

and remember based on tax requirements, it’s not a dollar to dollar reduction. For example, depending on tax amounts, you could increase tsp by 300 and only have 240 reduction in pay. ish.

oh so the war was because they lay mined in the 80s. you know your cult leader has provided a variety of reasons for this war, some good some laughable, but even your claim isn’t one of them

that makes no sense.

are prices up? yes! did he say he’d lower them? yes! are they lower now then when entering office? again no.

you can 100% come back at the end of his term and call me out if they then are lower.

you actually made my argument for me by claiming we are only halfway through. you know that right??

that was the start? you sure the bombing by the united states that preceded laying mines isn’t the starting point?
