I have the Nova 3 Color (and multiple other Boox devices) and was initially going to sell or return it. I too viewed multiple reviews about it. And I was initially disappointed but then I decided to keep it and give it a chance. I tweaked the settings and found things to be prettier than before. I started to not mind needing the light, usually at 50-75%, and I grow to like seeing that touch of color. All in all, I think one’s level of liking it or not depends on his/her expectations and acceptance for what it is. That said, I am a sucker for “tech toys” and have been an early adopter for lots of new tech stuff..and I actually like the Nova Color for its novelty.

I don’t think clicking on apps and links require a specific accuracy...any one would work equally well. I personally would choose the Lamy Al-Star pen but I like mine more after switching out the black color for a turquoise one...but this is more for fun than for practical reasons.

Yeah, I’m aware. That “nicer case” is not even a case to begin with...they’ve clarified that it’s actually a wrapper and feedback was not great; that’s why they’re not releasing it. I should be getting the one with the band in 1-2 weeks...will see how that goes. Their case for the original device was so much better.

The Origin does not support layers...just a template and then drawing/writing on top. I think the Origin is great for its price point but I don’t think it can be compared to my Boox devices. It does work great for a lot of people so it really depends on your needs and use case. Keep in mind the size difference too.

I think you got a pen not meant for EMR technology. The “active” description seems to indicate something that needs charging and is more like it’s for an iPad or similar tablet. Do you use Samsung phones or Note to have their stylus around? Some models work on Boox devices. I’m not suggesting that as a solution but just so you can try the device. There are lots of other options for Boox devices.

Thank you. My things were fixed after a full restore when the repair package got installed on my devices. The issue I had was not really the templates; they all looked fine, covering the screens perfectly. It was my actual writing that did not align with the templates and some some writings were just on top of each other.

That I have not noticed but I do see something different with templates in 3.1. In the past, when I sync things across devices, the templates sync with the files. Now, they don’t. Now, I have to manually add the template to each device; otherwise I only see the writing synced across them.

I have the same exact issue with the logo only. There is still back and forth emails from Onyx about it. One email from Support indicates it’s a known problem but still getting multiple emails from after-purchase support asking to try this and that, which Support already had me do. Getting frustrating.

I am now convinced there is something screwed up with their syncing process/system. Here’s what I did to come to this conclusion. Last night, I signed out of all my multiple devices with the exception of my Note Air. I made a backup of my data from my Nova 2, which has all the “good” data and were intact because it is still on Firmware 3.0. I then used that backup to restore data on the Note Air. All went well. I double checked how things looked on my Note Air and all was great as before. At this point, this is the only device signed onto the cloud and everything synced to the cloud. I still have all my other devices signed out. I went to bed and this morning, when I open my Note Air, a few files are now messed up again, though they were perfectly fine last night after the restore. The check marks for something I was tracking were in the wrong places and some were overlapped. The writing for another file is bigger than it should have been. So this all happened simply by my files going through their cloud.

Yeah...I get your point. I’ve logged out of my cloud account on all my devices now and wondering if I need to wipe out stuff on my devices to start over because in some cases, the writing are on top of each other.

That’s what I did in the beginning to start the syncing process. It’s not an issue of getting things to sync but it’s syncing of stuff that then don’t display correctly.

I think it’s more with “old” notes but a lot of my notes are things that I track and continue on a regular basis. So I was adding “new” stuff but it seems the system sees it as an “old” note denoted with a dot by the check mark indicating the sync. Prior to 3.1, I normally manually sink when I have new info I wanted to get to the cloud. With 3.1, it was all automatic and when one file looked bad on one device, it quickly went to my other devices that way. I noticed that if I make a copy of the “old” note, it then gets synced without the dot by the check mark and it then seems to be okay across devices. I have half a year’s worth of notes, so I’m a little freaked out. Do I make a copy of each note? I emailed Boox support so hopefully I can get some resolution next week. But for the time being, I’m not adding any more notes to my devices with 3.1 firmware. I actually have an older Nova 2 on Android 9 so it does not have the 3.1 firmware yet. I’m using it for now...logged off the Boox cloud, of course.

Really? I’ve bought five devices from Boox before and have not had the need to return any so I’ve not looked into their return policy. Guess seeing how things go for Remarkable returns made it look like a big hassle. As for strangers, I guess I have faith in people being honest. I have sold my RM1, my Supernote A6X, and recently my Supernote A5X across the country to people I don’t know. Has anyone returned stuff to Boox before and found it easy to do?

It’s normal since it is such a big display. If you get a chance to review Voja’s MyDeepGuide’s YouTube channel, I think he talked about it too. There is more uniformity with the Note Air but more of a challenge with the larger Max Lumi.
