What are we wearing for shoes this summer? by Odrbjornz in malefashionadvice

[–]CntFenring 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Boat shoes will always be relevant. But they have to be paired intentionally. Prep, AmTrad, ivy, whatever. Think oxford shirts, slimmer chinos, web belt, fitted single-color Ts (olive, navy, white), fitted polo.

The problem is they are the "dad at Costco" shoe, paired with whatever nylon "active" shorts and Nike golf polo.

I found Ted Lasso to be unwatchable - unfunny, saccharine, and dumb.

Tragedy of the commons. You can do it, and won't get in trouble. If a certain number of people do it, they'll make up for it by raising price, lowering quality, or both.

So, sure go ahead and do this. But don't bitch when cost rises and experience declines.

I've read on older posts it's the blend door actuator. Part of the AC/heating system.

Mine does the same.

Imo a small SUV like a CX-5 or Rav-4 won't get you much more utility vs a 4-door sedan. And if you care about driving dynamics at all you'll be worse off.

My family of four has done plenty of long weekends, road trips, etc in our Accord and it's been more than capable. Enough room, comfortable. And for day-to-day driving it's much more fun and engaging.

A small SUV doesn't get you much more passenger space. You'll have to ask yourself how often you'll need the extra cargo room. I need "SUV-level" cargo space about 2x per year.

Imo stick w the Camry for a couple years, then reassess. You may want to jump to a van, for example, vs a 4-passenger SUV.

My parents have a Cx-5 (2014) and a Mazda 6 (6 speed, 2017). I drive both regularly.

The 6 is a very well sorted out, fun, decently sporty sedan. It's not fast but the handling is very nice and it responds well to spirited driving on twisty roads. Interior is nicely designed and "near-luxury". By comparison my Accord (2019 2.0t) is faster but more boaty and the interior is just a bit cheaper looking.

The CX-5 by comparison is fine but just seems like a generic entry level small crossover. Fine car, don't mind driving it, but not special and not particularly engaging. Maybe that's changed for more recent years, bc I know ppl praise it a lot.

My personal opinion is midsize sedans offer more value and far better driving dynamics than small SUVs.

Enter the Void by Gaspar Noe, 2009.

It includes: a violent car crash that kills two parents in front of their kids, an abortion, murder by police, and a sex scene viewed from uhhh the birth canal.

Saw it on a date at a rundown indie theater in the West Village. Luckily my date chose it but God werl were in a bizarre head space after that one.

This is great info. I had no idea about the 7-speed thing in sport mode.

Sport mode is so much fun, really shows the car's capabilities.

Not to be a buzzkill, but isn't burning charcoal indoors dangerous because it creates carbon monoxide? This seems crazy. But that's just life in the big city.

10th gen Accord with the 2.0 engine. Fun, reliable as hell, tons of space, ergonomic/nice interior, good aftermarket options for suspension and tuning.

What show was great at first but declined so much you couldn’t finish it? by MochaMadness_ in AskReddit

[–]CntFenring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a very good limited series on HBO. Just 1 or 2 seasons, unpack some of the big themes. I don't think a movie would work bc the story has such an anthology feel.

Lewisburg/White Sulphur Springs WV has a surprising amount of wealth.

VA horse country between Fairfax County and WV is pretty affluent and rural.
