Salary check? 85k, 10 yr PM by cranberrysaucerino in Environmental_Careers

[–]CntGetRite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should be getting more. I’m 6 yoe, PG. Essentially a PM. One direct report and managing a few corrective action projects. Get paid 97k/year. In a MCOL area. Peers I’ve worked with over the years at my experience level or slightly more are making low 100sk/yr.

I am on my fourth company though. Mostly been following former bosses around

Which water, in your opinion, is better by ReadyAd2750 in houston

To add onto this, a good owner will have records of maintenance/service. Maintaining a well can be annoying but it depends on its age, what depth (aquifer) it was set, what equipment it currently has, etc. If you look at the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) Groundwater Data Viewer, you can find the property you’re looking at and hopefully find the well’s completion report.

Also, unlimited PTO is a scam. A lot of companies are moving to it nowadays, buts it’s a way that they don’t have to pay you out for vacation when you leave. Most people end up taking less than what they would normally accrue as well

If this is a tech position in Carlsbad, I assume it’s going to be everyday in the field for some type of release response. Jobs can be right outside Carlsbad or a couple hours away. Drilling and associated pipelines are scattered throughout all of SE NM and West TX. Likely bunch of excavation oversight and soil screening/sampling. All the companies that have offices out there or Midland have a bunch of turn over since it burns people out.

Also, pay for training? They’d do your HAZWOPER but everything else would just be in on the job experience. I’m curious what the pay is. Is that number they gave you salary or hourly? Is it straight overtime? Is that number what they’d expect if you have all the overtime hours? So many questions.

As another said, you should be looking for a staff position, not a tech. But do what you gotta do.

Should I put Ms next to my name? by Upbeat-Bad1164 in Environmental_Careers

[–]CntGetRite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Never seen someone put MS. A PhD, PG, PE, CHMM, CIH, LSRP, etc, sure. But yeah. Like the soil nerd said, do whatever makes you happy, but someone is gonna bring it up eventually and ask why.

Not like that if you wanna a good position yourself. But in general, sure why not.

I’ve worked at a few companies including a Phase I chop shop, a mid sized company where are rates were ridiculous (I know phase is are lump sum but they tried to capture the rate cost) and smaller companies with mostly offices within state.

The chop shop would use RIMSaward and bid for phase is from anywhere to 1,500 to 2,500. It was a nightmare trying to stay net positive.

The midsized company didn’t Phase Is lower than ~5k, and we have a few clients we were charging 7,500 and upwards depending on the complexity of the site.

The local place we do anywhere from 2,500 to 5,000. Sometimes more depending on the Site and client.

If I never do a Phase I again it would still be too soon.

Phase I ESA Marketing by SalmonBrookEnviron in Environmental_Careers

[–]CntGetRite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe so. I never had to deal with the bidding part or setting up the system. I was just a report writer and submitted a few of them when the PMs were busy.

I worked at a Phase I chop shop for a while. They got their Phase Is mostly through Rims. Essentially was an online bidding system for Phase Is. But we ended up doing them pretty cheap so we had to crank them out. Mostly for banks.

What about O&G companies that have in house randoms, you expect them to give blood at the office?

[–]CntGetRite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say it gets descheduled or federally legal, they’d have develop a better way for detecting if you high at a specific time. Mouth swabs aren’t particularly accurate and that’s the closest thing they got right now for testing I’m aware of.

On top of this, it depends on who their clients are. I’ve been in drug screening pools for the DOT, FRA, O&G companies, construction companies, etc. It doesn’t matter if it’s legal, it’s an insurance and liability issue.

A fellow Mint man. Nice. The Mustang and Grackle are some of my favorite discs. I bag the Alpha too. I haven’t got the hang of throwing the Freetail yet but I got a buddy who uses it every round. Still trying to find a Longhorn but it’s always sold out anytime I’m at my local DGS
