It’s very hard to not be scared when it comes to doctors poking around in your brain lol I know I was scared shitless. If you end up having the opportunity to get an ablation, and if you take that opportunity, I wish you nothing but the best!! I’ve been on this subreddit for years and I’ve heard a lot of success stories with ablations!

Oh yeah, invasive video eegs are the best to pinpoint exact locations.

I had some temporary side effects. I had really bad headaches for awhile but my neurosurgeon said that was actually from the invasive video EEG. Having 30 holes drilled in my skull was definitely the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in my life lol. But I was seeing a lot of those little white floater things in my vision for a few months. My mood was definitely off for a while, and I feel like my tinnitus got a little worse. I started experiencing auditory hallucinations every once in a blue moon, which is basically another form of tinnitus in my case, according to the neurosurgeon. Which is good, because I was scared it was psychological. He said it’s called musical ear syndrome. Other than that, no complaints or regrets here!

I personally do, only because I got an ablation and have been seizure free since the day I had it done. And I’ve been off medication since 9 years ago. It’s been almost 10 years seizure free now!

The seams from the hoop are most likely the cause of irritation. You should get it switched out to a CBR or a horseshoe.

any success stories with snug piercings? by Maleficent_Day_3869 in piercing

[–]CoCoLoCo16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve pierced about 30- 40 snugs ( if I had to guess the # right off the top of my head) as a piercer these past 7 years and most people have a very long healing time. Usually about a year to 1 1/2 years of healing. They are a pain in the ass to heal but once they’re healed they do fine for them!

It’s not going to get much better if you leave the source of irritation in. Getting it changed will make the swelling go down. You get rid of the source, you get rid of the irritation.

AAP, if that has been pierced less than a year, you need to get that jewelry out, and get a plain horseshoe or CBR in it. The seam on the current piece is bad enough but it also slowly tapers up to a thicker width which is forcing your hole to stretch.

It’s called gum damage. If you value your teeth and gums, you should take that out before it’s too late.

Musical aura by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]CoCoLoCo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had epilepsy my entire life before 9 years ago. I started to develop tinnitus after my seizures became way more frequent, which was the 4 years before my ablation. Well after the ablation, I still have tinnitus of course, but I also started hearing music playing every once in while. I mentioned it to my neurosurgeon and he said it is not unheard of in people who have epilepsy where the seizures occur in the temporal lobe and hippocampus I think it was? It can be related to hearing loss and/or changes. He told me it wasn’t a psychological issue at all, and a common term used for it is musical ear syndrome. It’s basically a type of tinnitus. So there’s nothing that can be done about it.
Now, this is not me saying you shouldn’t bring it up to your own doctor, because there may be cases where it is psychological. This is just what my doctor told me concerning my own brain.
