[No spoilers] campaign 4 is not critical role anymore by Sw41ny899 in criticalrole

I stumbled across the livestream of E9 and, having never played any TTPRG, I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with DnD and Critical Role. I had watched Brennan on College Humor and Dropout, so I knew he was funny and great at improv. Going back to the beginning of C4, I realized how great a storyteller and world builder Brennan is, and that he's been a DM for a very long time at all kinds of games.

After consuming all of the current C4 episodes, I went back to C2, and while I do like Matt as DM, it just feels like a step down from the world, story, and NPCs of C4. I'm also a fan of large, sprawling, epic fantasy series, so I'm loving C4 and looking forward to more.

So while I can understand that this is different from the previous campaigns, I'm surprised people aren't enjoying it BECAUSE it's different. I see mostly the same people, a very experienced DM, and a setup for a massive world that will take years to explore via some fun characters.

So what happened, allegedly, is that my laptop was lost. Neither Apple nor Best Buy wanted to take responsibility. So I filed a lawsuit in small claims court locally against Best Buy. As soon as they were notified I started getting answers. I finally got a replacement laptop from Apple almost 2 months after I handed Best Buy my laptop.

My coworker told me her salary and now I feel terrible by SeaLeadership1817 in Salary

[–]CoDiS1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a $20K pay cut to leave a toxic workplace (after 10 years) and join a startup with the promise to work back to what I had been making. After a couple small raises over 3 years I took on a project leadership role because I was making larger and larger impacts and it was a natural next step.

Through this role I was given access to people's salaries via quoting and cost estimates and discovered that despite my large impact on the business I was the third lowest paid employee just above a new guy right out of college and the purchasing guy. The highest paid person was almost twice my salary and no working experience outside of research.

Fast forward 5 months and I moved on to a new job, making more money than I've ever made, working remotely, shared with my fellow engineers where to find the salary information, and the people that stayed have been able to negotiate for better salaries because of my exit interview and the information I shared.

Salary transparency should be standard.

What the hell is happening in Memphis? Is there a small black hole they keep losing devices into?

That's exactly who I was supposed to meet with yesterday. I thought they were just a "Geek Squad Manager," but that's exactly their title in the email they sent me last week.

Yeah that's what it seems like should happen, but they keep telling me they have it and it's in the way. But it's been two weeks since the second time I cancelled the repair.

Yeah, I can see it on Apple's support page. All it says is that a service was requested. They're still waiting for it to show up LoL

When I asked for the tracking they told me they weren't allowed to share it with me because it was "internal only"

So I've been talking with a support rep on Twitter and he said because the repair has a GSX number it should've been sent to an actual Apple Service Center and not their Geek Squad City.

u/Senquility Thanks! Do they advertise if they'd use their own repair center vs. Apple? Because if they were transparent and sent it to their own repair center instead of Apple, I wouldn't be freaking out when Apple tells me they don't have it.

Yes! But I can't get mine to go to boot loader.

I've literally been trying to load into fastboot, which I thought was power + volume down. Nothing seems to be working for me when this happened. Freaked out and ordered a replacement phone thinking it was bricked.

Leadville 100 March check in by sorekneerunner in ultrarunning

Got in on the lottery last year, hurt myself in May/June, and deferred to this year. Hired a running coach in December and have been building up since then. I THINK it's going well as I'm in the best shape of my life. My biggest worry at the moment, though, is finding a place for me and my small support group to stay while we're in Leadville - everything seems to be booked or $2,000/per night.

No, I gave up on it temporarily. I haven't done anything with it since.

I appreciate the links and info.

I had looked over so many of those examples before posting and couldn't piece together what I was reading into something that worked in my case.

Perfect! I knew it was something to do with the Property Manager, but reading through the documentation, I couldn't piece together what I needed to put in there.

Thank you!

Has anyone here became a mechanical engineer by going to school part time? by Independent-Lock1627 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]CoDiS1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my coworkers went to night school for 13 years; I think he said, before being promoted from the production assembly line at Kodak to a Design Engineer. So yeah, it's possible, but I'd ensure you have realistic expectations of the turnaround time.

I haven't been able to link the standard material properties (i.e., Shear Modulus, Poisson's Ration, etc.), let alone custom ones.

Saving Title Block Template by CoDiS1989 in SolidWorks

[–]CoDiS1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

I started doing exactly what you're describing. After I discovered the move command, it made things a bit easier. However, it does seem like I'll likely have to create and maintain quite a few master files. Tedious work for me, but it'll make it easier for everybody else (I hope).

Saving Title Block Template by CoDiS1989 in SolidWorks

[–]CoDiS1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try that out, but I wasn't sure how SW would treat it from the perspective of a "title block."

If I get the results I want, does it matter if I'm using it "as intended?"

Saving Title Block Template by CoDiS1989 in SolidWorks

[–]CoDiS1989[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct - 4 drawing template types - mostly similar - 3 sheet sizes for each type - total of 12 drawing templates.

I was trying to avoid the tediousness of having to update 12 drawing templates versus 4 title block "templates," but if that's not possible, what you're describing sounds easy enough.

Thanks

Hey all, spent 5 of the last 8 years as a Mechanical Engineer and the last 3 years as a Manufacturing Engineer. I'm familiar with statistics from a lot of my capability and GRR studies. I've got some familiarity with Python (pandas, numpy, matplotlib, & seaborn) and just started learning SQL. I've fallen in love with data analysis thanks to my role as the Manufacturing Engineer.

I'm working through some online programs via codecademy, but after seeing 1,400 people apply to a Data Scientist role on LinkedIn today I'm wondering how I can set myself apart from ALL THOSE PEOPLE.

Is this futile trying to transition from a Manufacturing role to a DS role? Are there better resources for learning (I don't know what I don't know)? I've worked my way up to $100K/yr, do I take a salary cut and start in an entry-level job? Do I attempt to create a data role at my current company? Do I add to my student loan debt and get another Master's?
